Being in the industry for over 20 years, to my surprise the bartender said "let me ask the kitchen, we close in 45 minutes.!' 45 minutes to close shouldn't even be a question to ask the kitchen. Then she came out and said they were still serving and takes off. So we are looking for a place to sit and she says' you can't sit there, there are no servers.' Ok so maybe you should have sat us after you told us you were still serving 45 minutes to close. The service just progressed to get worse. The food itself was pretty good but the portions were ridiculously small. Only one side with main dish and my date ordered the duck and got literally 4 small bite size pieces of meat, $32. My halibut was also very skimpy and the Brussels sprouts were burnt, $38. Not once did the server even come back to ask how the food was or I would have had her get me a different side. I wish I would have taken a picture of the food. The food itself was good, minus burnt Brussels sprouts but it's a good thing we got an appetizer too or we would have still been hungry. The server is lucky my date left 20 because I said to leave 10 and I don't even know if that was deserved. I am in the industry and we always overtip but not in this case when it's more than obvious the server doesn't even want to be there. So all in all it was not a good experience. Overpriced for the portion of food and the service was awful.

This place is a unique little oasis in the heart of oil country, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like a welcome escape from the hustle. The diverse menu, featuring expertly grilled steaks, burgers, pasta dishes, and award-winning appetizers like their excellent tavern wings, keeps things exciting - no two visits feel the same! The food here is absolutely top-notch. So far, I've tried the cedar plank salmon, which was perfectly cooked with a smoky flavor that paired beautifully with the sides; the bread pudding, rich and indulgent with just the right amount of sweetness; the prime rib burger, juicy and packed with bold flavors reminiscent of their standout prime rib French dip that other guests rave about; and the penne vodka, creamy and comforting with a kick that hits the spot. Every dish has been executed flawlessly, using fresh ingredients that elevate even the simplest meals. It's clear the kitchen, led by the amiable chef Gerald, puts real care into their constantly evolving menu. But what elevates this place to 5-star status is the incredible service from the entire staff. All the bartenders and bar managers are wildly attractive and bring such vibrant energy to the bar - they're attentive, fun, and always quick with a recommendation or a perfectly mixed drink, making you feel like a regular from day one. Kaylee is fantastic, and Bree is an absolute rockstar, handling the crowd with effortless charm and skill. Their energy matches the friendly vibe of the whole team, from the front desk to the servers, who go out of their way to ensure everything is just right. It's the kind of hospitality that turns a good meal into a memorable experience, especially when you're far from home. Pictured here are some of their new seasonal drinks that I highly recommend trying: the Pumpkin Spice Old Fashioned, with its warm, autumnal twist on a classic, and the Grinch Goes Hard, a festive, potent concoction that's perfect for the holidays and packs a delightful punch. If you're in Williston for work or passing through, do yourself a favor and stop by the Tavern at the Grand. Great food, outstanding service, and that cozy bar/lounge setup make it the best spot in town. Highly recommend - I'll be back for more!

The bar section is somewhat trendy, but with a green backlight that is more or less distracting and unnecessary.towards the entry there is gambling for some reason (slot machines and a table for what looks to be black Jack or poker). On the other side of the gas fireplace there is a dining room. I've never tried their food, but their cocktails are delightful. They offer a variety of classic and signature cocktails as well as beer and wine. You can see the bar is full stocked with all sorts of whiskeys and other spirits The service was mid. Our server was pleasant, but our drink order took at least 15-20min. I know some of these cocktails take a while as they are artisanal, but I watched her pour a beer for our table and set it to the side while she worked on cocktails for 10min letting the beer warm up. Also, the cocktail menu listed all the prices, and someone in our party ordered an older fashion for $10, and when the check came he was charged a double ($22). We reported the mistake and were told that the menu hasn't been updated with prices, which is completely ridiculous. If this were the case they should have told us when we ordered Some tips: This place is an ideal happy hour spot to unwind with friends of coworkers. It wouldn't be a terrible date night spot as well. The blueberry margarita is actually phenomenal. I with there was a little more alcohol to balance the sweet, but it's still tasty Cheers!!

H&M's Steakhouse -- A True Five-Star Experience in Watford City…read more Living in Watford City, North Dakota, you sometimes come to expect restaurants to be inconsistent -- service can be inexperienced, food overpriced or overcooked, and timing hit or miss. H&M's Steakhouse is the complete opposite. From the moment you walk in, the service is warm, attentive, and professional. Glasses stay full, staff are welcoming, and your food arrives quickly without sacrificing quality. I've eaten here since they first opened, and to this day I have never left disappointed. The steaks are exceptional -- true top-quality cuts, hand selected, perfectly seasoned, and flame grilled exactly the way a steak should be. In my opinion, these are the best steaks in North Dakota, and I would confidently put them up against Ruth's Chris Steak House any day of the week. The rest of the menu is just as impressive. The HM Pasta will feed a grown man for two days, the sides are generous, and if the baby carrots are on the menu, order them. The desserts are homemade and outstanding -- the crème brûlée is one of my favorites. What truly separates H&M from other restaurants is the ownership. The owners are heavily involved, often cooking the steaks themselves because they genuinely care about quality and consistency. In a town where restaurants sometimes run out of basics, H&M somehow always has the full menu available and ready to go. Another rare quality is how much they value customer feedback. The owners personally address concerns and truly care about the customer experience. And I would be remiss not to mention BJ -- hands down the best waitress in McKenzie County. If you're lucky enough to get her as your server, your evening will be warm, fun, and incredibly attentive. Whether it's a client dinner, large gathering, date night, or takeout, H&M consistently delivers excellent food that is professionally prepared and beautifully plated. My recommendation: Start with the huge shrimp cocktail, order your favorite cut of steak -- the filets, bone-in ribeyes, and New York strips are all outstanding -- add mushrooms, grilled jalapeños, and definitely the baby carrots. Pair it with a glass of wine or cocktail and finish with one of the homemade desserts. Watford City is fortunate to have a restaurant like H&M's Steakhouse. Once you eat here, there's a good chance you won't want to go anywhere else for steak again.

Service is basic and not as helpful as you would think based on first impressions. It's nice looking soon as you walk in but don't let that fool you. Music on loudly in lobby which doesn't seem to bother you at first unless you have a room just above the lobby area. AT 10pm is loud as hell. Of course I asked them to turn it down and they turn it off for the nigh. There's breakfast in the morning in a large room just beyond the front desk but the downside is that they have reconstituted eggs and microwaved bacon so I'm eating out because that just turns me off in the morning. I'll grab a banana and that's about it. There's a work out room with free weights & cardiovascular equipment. There's both an indoor hot tub and pool next to each other and some tables and chairs on the inside pool deck..towels provided but if you're a female, I suggest to pass it up since all the perverted men come down there and probably pee in the water. There's an outdoor sun patio with chaise lounge chairs to relax in but for my stay, the construction of the parking lot paving and building across the street isn't desirable at all. But..it will eventually complete and you can relax when its all done that's if all the perverted men in town aren't staring at you up and down. God forbid you look them straight in the eye. They would construe that as an invitation. They have free coffee, tea and hot water all day in the same room they serve breakfast..nothing special. Property is near the main drag so you can access everything fast but watch out for careless drivers. It's all an accident waiting to happen. Wal-mart is next door as is the airport and once again it's perv central. You can walk to both although I wouldn't suggest it. Do your homework about this town first before you venture out on foot. It's not something you see around here I almost forgot to mention that if you travel with any valuables and you'd like to lock it up..each room is equipped with a safe in the closet that you choose your own pin to use. If you get lower level rooms, be prepared to hear stomping of elephants above you. People here have no consideration for the folks below them and in addition if you are in a room on the 1st level near the lobby, you hear absolutely everything..so I can't stress it enough. Bring your earplugs but hopefully you can hear your alarm go off in the morning. So far every night I've been here thus far (6 nights) I've been awakened to slamming of doors, noisy lobby sound system that's way too loud (apparently the installer put speakers in wrong), neighboring rooms who patrons can't find their "inside' voice etc. I feel like a walking zombie most days. I get to leave here for another establishment on the 1st. Thank you for small miracles. I hope my next experience is better.
