Three months ago I would have rated the The Bypass restaurant in Crosby a 5. Today I rate it a 1 and vow to NEVER eat there again!! Since September I frequented this establishment a dozen or more times. Today the manager not only insulted me by claiming I just wanted "FREE" food but also blamed me for their kitchen screwing on 3 separate orders I had placed on 3 separate occasions. I continued to frequent The Bypass even after mistakes were made. I am an understanding person.
The first incident occurred after I had ordered 2 separate orders to go on the phone, it was a Sunday. I arrived to find that only one order had been made and it would be a 40 minute wait for my son's burger. I was upset and asked if we waited if the burger would be free. It was a young girl who said "YES" she would pay for it because it was her mistake. She had taken both orders and forgot to turn one in. I could tell she felt badly and I asked for a side salad for my son instead. She gave us a large salad box and said she would pay for it. I told her that it was ok I would pay and she only charged me for a small salad. I told her we all make mistakes especially with how busy it was in there and that I did not plan on waiting 40 minutes anyway and I did not expect her to pay out of her pocket for anything. She displayed excellent customer service skills. I paid for ALL of the food and left a tip. I returned more then once after this.
I decided a few weeks later to trying ordering food to go again. Once again, I show up to find only one order of food. This time a different waitress said that she misunderstood me on the phone and offered to have us wait. I declined because I had ordered food to go so that I did not have to eat there. The Manager introduced himself, I did not ask to talk him he just appeared and asked me what the problem was. I told him that I had frequented the restaurant and that on both occasions I had called in orders I had received only one order of food. He said "So 100%" of the time. I hadn't thought of it like that and I said "well yes I guess so." I pointed out a waitress that had served me on several occasions and she confirmed I frequented the place and that I had never had a problem with my food in person. I paid for my food. The Manager apologized and told me the next time I came in to eat he would "take care" of me. I have eaten there once since, seen him but did not ask him to take care of anything.
So, a month has passed and today my sister and I went for supper. It was the same waitress that misunderstood my order on the phone so I was very specific about my to go order Cajun Chicken Alfredo without vegetables just meat, noodles, and sauce. My sister and I ate there. There was only one other table occupied when we arrived yet it took over a half hour to get our food. While we were eating they brought out my to go order. Then showed up 5 minutes later with a different order saying they had gotten mixed up. When I was finished with my meal I opened the to go box to find that the order was wrong. We were ready to leave at this point and several tables had arrived. I told the waitress I wanted to speak to the manager that was so nice before.
This time he was a complete ***! Stating that I shouldn't have ordered what I did I should have ordered Chicken Alfredo which wasn't even on the menu I was given! I told him I was not going to wait for him to make more food because we were leaving. He talked in circles for 10 minutes and told my sister that if my order of food was so important I should have agreed to wait for it. I asked him what he planned on doing about it, after all he did tell me the last time that he would "TAKE CARE OF ME" the next time I ate there and it just so happens that this was the next time a problem with my order occurred.
He asked what I wanted. I said I believed he should comp my food for the inconvenience. I am a frequent customer and this is the 3rd time. He had the nerve to say to me "OH SO YOU WANT FREE FOOD FINE" ... I immediately got offended and said. NO, I don't want "FREE" food. I will pay for it. Bring me my bill NOW. He said, well you ate your meal and we have never charged you for food you didn't receive. I asked him why he would tell me the last time I was there that he would "take care" of me and then when I ask him to make good on it he claims that I was complaining for FREE FOOD!! What kind of service is that!! I have never been treated so poorly by an establishment!! Apparently, when you tell customers you will "take care" of them it means you will insult and upset these frequent paying customers when they take you up on an offer. read more
