Gleison, one of the owners, came out the next day to take a look at the property and give a free consultation during which he was very nice, helpful and clearly passionate about his craft. His crew did the work the day after with Gleison working alongside. They were efficient, professional and did quality work in just a few hours cleaning up the entire front and backyard of pine needles and leaves and then mowing, aerating and seeding at a very reasonable price. He seemed more interested in talking than listening; I would try to ask a question only to be interrupted so he could explain the work he did for the previous owners of our house and other people in the neighborhood. I definitely got the sense he's been in business for a very long time and has long-standing clientele in the area, and I also sensed he didn't seem to want my business. I then sent a list of follow-up questions to his office; standard things like asking if they are insured, if they are licensed for home improvement projects, what type of crew will come out, if they've had any past legal disputes, etc. Apparently, they took offense to these questions, because the office manager told me the list of questions was insulting. She also made a point to mention she's been the office manager for 24 years, and that the company has supported the local community for 36 years. They withdrew their bid. So, just be aware that this company, in my experience, really didn't seem interested in new business, but will waste your time by going through the motions of giving quotes for work they don't seem to really want. Last note: this was for a hardscape project; I cannot speak to their landscaping services and how they handle that business.

I have been using Smart Landscaping for years and was previously happy with the service. This year…read morehas been the worst year working with them and I will no longer work with them. Here are some of the reasons: - They never notify us when they are coming so if we do not take our lights down in our bushes, they end up destroyed as they say in their contract they are not responsible. We have had to replace several lights and also ripped furniture covers. I watch the crew just rush through the work without any regards to quality or our things and do not care if they destroy them. - They supposedly removed weeds, however we ended up with poisonous India Poke weed in our flower beds. - Our lawn had several yellow spots and despite reaching out to them about it I never heard back. - We do not do lawn mowing with them and they mowed our lawn with the Fall clean up and charged us for this without asking. It was not outlined in the contract that they would do a lawn mowing with fall clean up. Its unfortunate that this service has gone down hill. I liked working with them for years and had been happy with them in the past and hopefully this review will help them adjust their practices.

I contacted Jose about having some prep done for a patio we were planning to build. We had a family…read morefriend who would lay pavers, so we really just needed the site to be dug out, base put down, compacted, and screeded. Jose came out and gave us an estimate that included burying the downspouts to avoid water dumping on the new patio. He was prompt, communicative, and gave us an estimate in a few days. We scheduled them to come the following week. He and his brother showed up right on time, and promptly began digging things out. I was impressed with what they were able to do in a single day. Because rain was in the forecast, they were flexible on coming back a second day to screed the final paver base. It rained particularly hard and it became clear that there was an issue somewhere. When they came back a few days later, I pointed it out to Jose and he promptly dug out the spot and ensured it was properly filled in and compacted. They finished the job and cleaned up. After the first day, they left the site relatively clean (considering they knew they'd be back). Overall, I would 100% recommend these guys and would love to have them back to do additional projects at our home. They were responsible, competitively priced, and wanted to ensure things were done right.
