It's very warm/hot...due to moisture, lights, heaters. Not the worst fish store experience I've had, but I had to deep breathes to stay calm while moving about. Super packed with "stuff", so you'll prob find what you're looking for. Seemed somewhat on pricey side for tank decor, but fish seemed more normally priced. Haven't bought from them yet. Didn't find fish I was looking for. Not totally opposed to returning, but not thrilled to return either. So...just a 3 "meh" for me.

The fish selections continue to be amazing, and I have awesome interactions with the staff. Most recently, one had a Majora's Mask tattoo so we just HAD to have a full conversation about fish with a side of Zelda. Video game jokes aside, whenever I have a question about the fish, or even if it's not a question and it's just one I know I want, the staff are always upbeat, enthusiastic, and you can tell that this aquarium life is their thing. At the time, it was the only place that had rummy-nosed tetras, those cute clear fish with the red 'noses' and spotted tail fins. I enjoyed going through the small, yet busy aquarium section that's just to the right when you enter the store. Straight ahead are some live animals and supplies. I will say that while the fish selection is nice, sometimes I see a lot of dead fish in the tanks. That's never a good sign, and can be off-putting to anyone who's as experienced and knowledgable of the world of fish as I am. Otherwise, if you're in the area, I'd say check them out. But watch out for dead fish in the tank, that reflects poor health! And the prices aren't bad either.

She hooked me up with pellet food for my betta, frozen food for my betta and bottom dwellers, and 2 amazing XL amanos (replaced my dead nerites with them). Megan is your gal if you need fresh water tank advice, she knows her stuff. I will be going back this weekend for another XL amano if they have them. Possibly another plant, we'll see. Let's start with the store itself; it's clean, organized, and lovely to just walk around and admire. You can tell that Adam has so much passion and love for what he does. He's also extremely knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to saltwater fish, setups, installation, and anything else, he's your guys. I went in with my husband because our corals and fish were dying and we were on the verge of giving up the hobby entirely. Adam and Greg assisted us in resolving the problem, and we left feeling confident and hopeful, which is something we haven't felt in a long time because all the other stores just push you to buy random items instead of actually giving you proper advice. Adam gave us great advice and suggestions without making like we needed to buy anything from him, wasn't pushy at all, didn't make us feel embarrassed, ashamed or stupid because of our mistakes (which other stores would do). He put us at ease and encouraged us to continue our saltwater aquarium adventure. Those two men deserve all the kind words, but I'll keep it brief. This is my new and permanent favorite aquatic store in the DMV area.
