My husbands family primarily listens to Spanish music and my family primarily listens to English music, with that we were worried about how things were going to go but everything went smoothly! Both sides had a blast and were dancing all night! He knew exactly how to mix both types of music and really got everyone together! We couldn't have asked for a better DJ! We have had a HORRIBLE experience with Dj Ron 808 . He has REFUSED TO REPAY us $3068.49, that we paid him to coordinator and DJ for our wedding back in 04/04/2020. As we all know Covid-19 happened in March 2020. Due to the unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel our wedding entirely. We contacted DJ Ron right away and he agreed that the wedding would not be possible and agreed to repay us. His contract states, "If DJ Ron is unable to provide services, DJRON will refund the deposit within 14 days." It has now been 878 days since he has owed us our deposits and payments. He first stated that he was going through hardship and would not be able to pay us the amount right away, we allowed him time to pay us back and has now refused. Although the 2 vendors that I hired independently repaid us immediately with NO PROBLEM. Mahalo to them for their Aloha spirit and their professionalism! We did our best to work with DJ Ron 808 for the sake of seeing our money again. NO LUCK!!!! He has made up lies and excuses on why he will not refund our money. He claims that we rescheduled to have the event which of course is untrue, I only have one contract with him and when I disagreed with his false statement he began to become aggressive and rude over the phone when I tried to contact him to resolved the issue. He and has threatened to sue me if I share my bad experience on Yelp! and on wedding websites to warn others. I can prove all of my statements with text messages and emails. It was pretty traumatic to have to deal with this issue on top of having to cancel our special event with our closest friends and family. He took our money and has no intention on paying it back. It was nice to see DJ Ron 808 at a recent OYE (Official Yelp Event) back in January 2018 at the Lahaina Loft. We hired him prior for a party we had at our home when we were rockstars. Just like at our private event, his set up at the OYE was very professional, with a chic-looking, stretchy material that hid the equipment legs & cords. Little touches like that make a huge difference! But, that's just the beginning of it. His equipment is top-of-the-line with quality sound and lighting. DJ Ron was such a great find, thanks to our wonderful coordinator Fay of Aloha Maui Weddings. He met with us twice before the wedding to review songs/scheduling, and even has the skill/knowledge to design awesome custom mash-ups! We had one in particular I remember of "We Found Love" / "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" that was clever and perfectly incorporated. He got all of the song choices as we requested including our little special first dance set up. Specifically, we wanted an intermittent slideshow playing in the background as we danced to our song. He helped us swing the set up to have a screen in the back, and the projector showing it smoothly. As a note to future brides, a perfect way to take some of the edge off of solo slow dancing for 4.5 minutes in front of your friends/family! Once the dance party was going, it didn't stop! We had DJ Ron for our small wedding on Maui. We only had about 20ish people and some of them I knew wouldn't want to dance, like my parents. He got everyone, EVEN MY PARENTS, to dance! He played many of the songs I wanted knew when he had to mix in his own songs to get the party started and keep it rolling. He also brought a really amazing wedding picture booth vendor with him. We had such a great time dancing and listening to music that I was sad when it was time for our last dance--since it meant it was time to say goodbye to our DJ! DJ Ron was recommended by The Plantation House. We hosted our 35th Wedding Anniversary Party there and what a fabulous night it was! From my very first phone call with Ron, I knew he was professional, articulate and truly vested in making this special celebration nothing less than amazing. He put together a song list of all our favorites that we knew our party of 22 would dance to all night. His set-up was so professional and the backlighting surrounding the venue was better than I could even hope for. He did special effects and took 100 photos I sent him of our friends to display all night on a screen that just blew everyone away!
