Dieter was absolutely phenomenal as our DJ for our daughter's bat mitzvah celebration. We had very…read moreparticular requests, and Dieter exceeded our expectations - our daughter has some noise sensitivity issues (like a lot of kids do) and she does not like loud parties, or even the noise level that most parties are at. At the same time, we wanted the kids to have a ton of fun with games like Coke & Pepsi, musical chairs, hula hoops, etc. For the adults, we wanted to be able to talk without having to yell over each other, so we were looking for more of a "festive luncheon" vibe, rather than over-the-top ostentatiousness.
He really managed to do all of those things beautifully -- the kids had an absolute blast the whole time, and the adults were all so happy that we could still talk to our friends! When our daughter did a ceremony of sand-pouring (which we did in place of a candle-lighting), we had sent Dieter specific songs to play at to start at specific timestamps, and he nailed every single one perfectly. For the dancing, he played all the songs we wanted (including some fairly obscure Hebrew ones!), and hit the noise sensitivity perfectly -- low enough so that the adults could hear, and high enough that the kids were up and dancing and playing games the whole time.
He would be fantastic for any party, but in particular, he would be great for anyone who can make both kids AND adults have a great time. As one of our guests said, "I loved seeing all of her friends dancing, playing games, and just having a glorious time. A party that works for everyone, young and old, is rare indeed."
He made our day so special and since we are not party planners, he made everything so simple and made excellent suggestions, and the photobooth was a ton of us for all of us (we think the adults might have actually done it more than the kids did!). Because of Dieter and his team, all of our guests said the reception was very "us" and so much fun for all of our guests - exactly what we wanted.
Having been to a lot of parties that our daughter has been to, and as we first explored a reception, our daughter wasn't totally convinced she even wanted anything. Afterwards, when we asked her, "Was this the kind of thing you wanted?" she said, "100%."
Finally, speaking as someone who works in the Jewish community, I will say that Dieter truly understands that a bar / bat mitzvah reception truly should be a "simchah" -- a day of joy that celebrates the hard work of the child, their connection to Judaism, and a way to have fun being with extended family and friends. For our daughter and our family, Dieter nailed it.
