In reviewing DJ P Rock, LLC And Paul Rivers, I will outline the details of our business contract and arrangement with him. We placed a FB ISO on Georgia Wedding Resources for at the beginning of April 2022. We narrowed down our search after being inboxed by DJ Paul Rivers of DJ P Rock in response to our inquiry. We confirmed his availability for our event which was an employee team building event held once per year on our farm.
The event was to be held on April 28th from 6-10 pm. DJ Paul indicated both in FB messaging and in the contract that he would arrive at 5 pm to set up. Once confirmed and contracted, we paid the deposit. The contract stated 6-10 pm for the event and 5 hours total for the booking which included set up time starting at 5 pm. (Let me be clear here that even if a dispute arose over the arrival time of 5 pm, with our event starting at 6 pm, DJ Paul would have absolutely needed to arrive by that time, but no one did...but I digress.)
On April 28th, I confirmed payment had been received that day and re-confirmed that he, DJ Paul, would be arriving at 5 pm as stated other times in FB messenger and the contract. DJ Paul confirmed and indicated he did receive the payment via Zelle. As a side note, Zelle has a no refund policy for ANY reason, fraud/nonreceipt of purchased or contracted items, or scams so BUYER BEWARE. In other words - and this is a kicker - if DJ Paul nor his sub did not show up, we would be out the $325 fees paid. Zelle will not refund.
On April 28th, we began to set up for the event ourselves, DJ Paul did not arrive at 5 pm. Any reasonable and professional business owner would have looked at GPS and communicated the lateness with evidence (pic of traffic on GPS etc.) At 5:20 PM I FB messaged him and texted him with no response. At 5:25 I called him and called him again 10 minutes later at 5:35. With the second call, DJ Paul texted me and said he was on the phone and running late via the number he had given me as his number and the number I used also for the Zelle payment. DJ Paul indicated HE was stuck in traffic. Mind you, WE initiated the communication about where he was and why he was so late.
At 6 pm, my husband who works the GA Wedding Industry as a photographer, got involved with DJ Paul on FB messenger and discovered it was not in fact DJ Paul that was coming, but a sub-contractor named Marlow Damartian. DJ Paul NEVER indicated anyone else was coming, the contract stated himself as the DJ with an arrival time of 5 pm for set up and a 6 pm start time for our event. Imagine our surprise to have this info shared at the time our event was supposed to start and all the while texting and FB messaging us using the self pronouns, never indicating anyone else was coming. Mr. Damartian was never put in touch with us and we only communicated via FB and text with DJ Paul, who NEVER called us to tell us, 1.) they would be late, 2.) that he, DJ Paul, was not our DJ as contracted but that he had subcontracted the work out, and 3.) what restitution he would be making. Keep in mind we initiated all communication about this huge debacle.
At 6:40 PM, a FULL hour and forty minutes after the confirmed and reconfirmed arrival time as promised and a FULL forty minutes after the start of our event, DJ Marlow arrived and quickly set up. He explained he left work at 5....LEFT his day job at 5 pm for an event that he was supposed to have arrived at by 5 pm. DJ Marlow was professional and calm despite walking into a hostile environment. In DJ Marlow's defense, he was never given anything but our address to my knowledge to communicate for himself. He set up quickly and though we had to completely rearrange things for the evening, including scrambling for our employees who had to work closing shift (they were not able to attend as much of the event hence our 6 pm start time,) and despite the issues we still had a good time. We will be recommending DJ Marlow and will use him again.
To this end, DJ Paul, after being challenged about the entire debacle offered us a $100 refund. We will never recommend DJ Paul for these reasons: 1.) complete lack of transparency, 2.) complete lack of professional courtesy and communication, 3.) sent a sub-contractor without communicating this as we chose DJ Paul based on recommendations, 4.) the arrival of said sub-contractor without prior communication about the late arrival except that which we initiated when said sub-contractor was almost two hours late, and 5.) the lack of professional remorse leading us to believe DJ Paul is uncaring and unsympathetic to his errors and lapses. read more
