I've been going to this bar for probably about a decade now. It has been through several different…read moreincarnations and three different owners in this time. It has remained one of the coolest dive bars I've ever been in. In the last couple of years, they started serving some really, really yummy food. I get the Philly cheesesteak, but have them use cheddar and put extra onions on it. It is absolutely to die for. Steve, the mastermind behind the majority of the menu, also recently added on Browned butter cocoa puff marshmallow treats. ZOMG! They no longer just have beer and wine, they have hard alcohol now. This is resulted in some, how you say, "more interesting" evenings than it did before, but overall the crowd is really friendly and supportive of the nightly karaoke singers. Had my first date with Flava Dave there. I don't drink and neither does my now husband (Flava Dave) so we go up and do duets and call ourselves The Sober Barflies. The karaoke hosts are always a lot of fun. Flava Dave picks up fill-in karaoke shifts there occasionally. Sam Cori is adorable, upbeat, and a classically trained singer and songwriter. She makes *another* performance of Bohemian Rhapsody fun and fresh again! We even had Gabe (one of the Karaoke hosts with a heartthrob vibrato bass voice), sing the music for our wedding and host karaoke at in my parents' sizeable rec-room afterward! He knocked my folks out signing Unchained Melody, their song, at our little reception. A lot of momentous occasions, birthday gatherings, and bachelorette parties take place there. I've seen a number of people get proposed to, and once saw a very spontaneous, actual wedding. There's a lot of really cool history in that place. It's over 100 years old and it's an official historical landmark in the United States. There's a lot of lore behind it. Stories of being haunted. It's a really amazing place to see. Plus, it's shaped like a coffee pot, how can you beat that?

This place has a fun history dating back to 1927! The building has served many purposes over the years, serving the public as everything from a fast food drive-thru to a speakeasy. The building has also been featured in several films, including "I Love You to Death," and Cameron Crowe's "Say Anything." These roadside America kitschy buildings amuse me greatly, and I'll always go out of my way to visit them when I can. Bob's Java Jive doesn't disappoint!

I came here for my birthday as they have an amazing free birthday package and I really wanted to…read moreget my pink crown replaced as my dog broke it thinking it was a toy. We arrived around 9pm-ish on a Saturday where they had live music playing at the bar. We asked to be seated away from the bar as we wanted to have conversations and felt the music was too loud to do that and our hostess was more than happy to accommodate that. Our server Wizz was absolutely the highlight of our visit as he ensured everything we ordered was brought out, checked in us at appropriate times and had a great sense of humor. Unfortunately, they were out of the pink crowns which seems like it is a popular choice as our server shared they only had the yellow and blue one. My brother got the sausage pasta, my boyfriend got their beef fried rice, my mom and I shared the Just the Basics seafood boil, and we got onion rings to share. I know last time I did the birthday package, I was only allowed to use from the alcohol options of a margherita or a Blue Hawaiian but I prefer fruity drinks and the Blue Hawaiian is a slushie drink. Luckily it seems you can choose a Roy Roger or Shirley Temple (used to be for kids' birthdays) and I went with the Shirley Temple. It was okay, I feel like it was more Sprite tasting and not much of the grenadine. The food arrived and everything tasted great. We were really impressed with the seafood boil and everyone got to try it out even though it is suited for one person. The yum yum sauce that comes with the fried rice is heavenly and my boyfriend who doesn't use too much sauce doused his fried rice with it but it was absolutely the best. My brother enjoyed his sausage pasta as well. We got our ice cream which was refreshing after all the food we devoured. They even brought out the magic candle which they say is reserved for parties of 6 and more but it just shows that Wizz wanted to make my birthday memorable. Two employees came over with Wizz to sing me happy birthday which felt genuine and not forced like at other restaurants. We got our photo which also came in this cute green frame to take home, that's a huge set up as I was just given the photo when I last celebrated my birthday. Definitely looking forward to come back to use the $10 gift certificate and for an amazing time.

When online to see where the best wings in Lakewood were and several sources said, zesty…read moresteakhouse. So on a rainy Sunday night, headed over there to have some wings drinks and seafood boil. It is definitely the old black Angus. The decor is almost the same. And on Sunday night, you could hear the jazz in the lounge, which was nice. Ordered Long Island iced teas and they were all alcohol so if you like alcohol, this is your place. I asked for extra Coke which they gave me with no problem. The appetizer plate had hush puppies, onion rings, celery, mozzarella sticks, and the infamous wings. The wings lived up to the expectations and we will definitely be back to have wings here again. Also ordered a feeling crabby, seafood boil with snow, crab, head, shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes in the house special sauce, and it was very good. Almost as good as Captain crab. And the crab here was done perfectly. Definitely coming back to try more things on the menu Our total with two drinks, appetizer platter and feeling crabby with tax and tip for 3 people was $110 (& we did have some leftovers) Was so busy eating that I forgot to take pictures (next time)

My review is very specific to the food and the chef. I…read moreordered the chicken nachos with pico de gallo and all I can say is, they were/are the BEST nachos I have EVER ordered. This was the first time I have ordered nachos and didn't think "I could have made this better at home." I had to compliment the chef in person and she told me that the pico de gallo is homemade and it absolutely showed. If I heard her correctly, the chef told me her name is Orecia (I'm SO sorry if that's spelled incorrectly or I completely got your name wrong) and all I have to say is this; Chef Orecia, keep making such incredible food and I hope this establishment knows how LUCKY they are to have you! You are incredibly talented and I will be telling EVERYONE I know about your delicious food!

Make no mistake, the venue itself is great. Good sightlines, two bars, and a bunch of great pinball…read moremachines. But I can't in good conscience recommend going to a show at this place. The security here was completely out of synch. Once the crowd started surfing, there was nobody up front to keep it safe, and people were getting seriously injured and dropped since we couldn't catch them to help them down. Worse, at one point one of the bouncers stood in the middle of the pit and assaulted one of us during the headliner for no reason, leaving nail marks and bruises. The owner did try to make things right but frankly, the fact that it got to that point is on them. Go if you have to, but if a band is playing elsewhere nearby, I'd recommend going there instead.
