House in San Diego with my mom and how much fun we had, they said we HAD to do a night at Keys on Main! So we got a hotel room, went out to dinner, and headed there afterward. We ended up opening and closing the place, and we had an absolutely fabulous night! We had plenty of drinks, put in a ton of song requests, and sang along to so many of our favorites. Since it wasn't super crowded on the Friday night we went, they were able to play a lot of our requests, which was awesome! We were also sitting right up front, so we got tons of interaction with the performers, which made the whole experience even better. The entertainment was so much fun, the atmosphere was upbeat, and we laughed SO much! They even gave us all a tramp stamp when we walked in the door. I'm not even kidding! Such a funny little touch that fit right in with the whole vibe of the place. If you love music, singing along, and having a fun night out with friends, I highly recommend giving Keys on Main a try. It's the perfect place to let loose, laugh, and make some great memories. We had the best time and would absolutely do it again!

What was a huge turnoff, though, was the constant push for bigger tips for song requests. At one point I genuinely felt like I was at a strip club, just without the lap dances. I understand tipping entertainers, but the whole song-request/tip dynamic felt a little excessive. Then came the drink bill. Our drink-only total was $172.07, which is a lot for what we had. The receipt was also confusing when it came to the doubles, so I asked our waitress to explain how they were being charged. Unfortunately, she really couldn't explain it clearly and mostly just kept saying, "Sorry." A double Tito's with Sprite was $26, which is pretty ridiculous to me. This isn't some high-end establishment in Las Vegas where you expect every drink to cost $20+ because apparently you're also paying for the privilege of existing in the building. And while $15 for a martini can be reasonable depending on the establishment, these were noticeably smaller than a standard martini. The entertainment was fun, but between the aggressive tipping culture around song requests and the drink prices, the overall experience felt more expensive than it was worth. Would I go again? Maybe. The entertainers were good enough that I wouldn't completely rule it out, but I definitely wouldn't be rushing back. And next time, I'll apparently need to take out a small personal loan before ordering a Tito's and Sprite.

I recently visited Comma Karaoke for the first time after moving to Washington about 2 months ago…read more Back in California, I already had a favorite karaoke spot, but some girlfriends invited me here for a Sunday night out, so I figured I'd give it a try since I haven't done karaoke in Washington yet. We got there around 7 PM and it wasn't too busy (probably because they opened at 6 PM). There was just one male staff member at the front to check in with. No security, as far as I could tell. One thing they are VERY strict about is no outside food or drinks. There are signs posted everywhere, and they even checked our bags before we went in. Personally, I didn't really mind since the karaoke places I used to go to in California had similar rules, but if you're going to enforce that policy so heavily, I feel like the food should at least be worth it. Unfortunately, the food here was pretty mediocre. The yogurt soju was actually good, and the waffle fries were decent enough, but the gyoza tasted average and the fried spring rolls are a cheap knockoff of lumpia. They also gave us complimentary popcorn, but I'd still recommend eating beforehand if you plan on spending a couple hours here. One thing that surprised me was that none of us got ID checked even though we ordered drinks. Maybe we just looked old enough?? As for the karaoke experience itself, it was fun! If you've never been, they'll walk you through how to use the controls to find your songs to sing. We originally booked one hour but ended up extending it to two. The process here is a little different from what I'm used to since you decide upfront how long you want the room for, whereas my old karaoke place just held onto an ID and let you stay as long as you wanted before paying at the end. Not a biggie, just different. The place itself was freezing when we first walked in, but after singing for a while it became more comfortable. We were provided two microphones, and highly encouraged to use the disposable microphone covers, probably for cleanliness and for sanitation purposes. We were also given 2 of those little handheld percussion instruments (forgot what they're called) that you can shake and clap along with while people are singing to add to the fun atmosphere. The song selection here is fairly huge. The physical songbook is kind of outdated, but once you figure out the system controls, you can search songs by artist, title, and even country. English songs were definitely easier to find compared to songs in other languages, so I'd recommend using the booklet to find exact song numbers if you want international songs. The scoring system was also kind of hilarious because none of us could figure out how it actually worked. Sometimes it felt tied to pacing, sometimes volume, and other times it just seemed random. Some songs also felt slightly off timing-wise. Still, we had a lot of fun messing around with it and singing everything from rock songs to classics to upbeat pop songs. There's definitely enough variety for everyone to find something they enjoy. One downside is that the rooms are not very soundproof. About an hour into our session, another group came into the room next to us, and whenever we paused between songs, we could clearly hear them belting out sad songs at full volume. It was lowkey kind of funny though. When we left, we noticed there's a small square window at some of the rooms, including ours, and wondered if anyone could just peep inside.. In general, I'd say Comma Karaoke is just okay. The karaoke itself was enjoyable and the private room setup is great if you don't like public karaoke, but if the food tasted better, it would have massively improved the experience. There are plenty of [Korean] food options in the same parking lot, but I would rather just sing and eat at the same place. We also drove about 30 minutes to get here, so I was hoping to be a little more impressed. Still, if you're in the area and just want a casual night out with friends, it gets the job done.

He told me ID would only be needed if we planned to drink. I let him know we are Muslim and don't drink, and he said that wouldn't be an issue and went ahead and reserved a room for us. A few minutes later, I received an accidental call back from the same number and overheard him talking about us to someone else. He mentioned our religion in a disrespectful way, called us "weird," and said he would upcharge us and put us in the back room. This was incredibly unprofessional and discriminatory. It made us feel completely unwelcome. I was just trying to celebrate my religious holiday, Eid, with my friends. I would not recommend this place based on this experience.

When I saw that Pauly was coming I couldn't believe it , but in my excitement I booked the wrong day. However the amazing staff rebooked Frank B to the correct day, THANK YOU! Don't was day of show and I showed early, they placed me dead center about 6ft from the man himself.... Ordered a tasty beverage from the bar and appetizer per the contract of the ticket... Now the food wasn't bad so if you're hungry make sure you grab a bite. The stage is very small but who cares it's enough for the comedian to pass around. Everything is perfect for the stage view whether you're up front or at the bar... I had a blast and will be back for a chuckle soon..

I was a bit nervous with some of the recent negative reviews but I'm happy to say that I didn't have a bad experience at the Tacoma Comedy Club at all! When we entered, we were greeted by staff who explained how everything worked which I appreciated as they do mention the same information online but it is a good refresher. We were also given a card with our seat numbers on it which was interesting as I thought it was a first come first serve situation. They were doing happy hour when we arrived and we decided to get their 2 for $15 appetizers which we got the boneless wings with lemon pepper and pretzel bites with cheese. Happy hour orders do not count for their two item minimum, but we're fine with that as we arrived pretty early as we were pretty hungry. The food didn't take too long to arrive and it was delicious. I'm not really into boneless chicken as I just have had some bad ones but the ones here are tender and juicy and the lemon pepper rub was great! I'm sad that the veggies don't come with the happy hour order and I also was told that they don't come with veggies by the cashier, which was odd. The pretzel bites were also really good and the cheese dip that came with it was fantastic! As others arrived an employee asked us for the card and escorted us to our table, however as he was explaining the rules it was extremely hard to hear him due to the music. I do think they should turn it down a little or speak up as I didn't catch a single thing he said. I did have one issue as both the people we were seated with and the people in front of us were talking a lot and we didn't know how to let someone know as they were talking every so often during the show. But I didn't know how to report that, especially if they are sitting right behind us. Anyways, for our two item minimum I got the Cinderella and lemonade while my boyfriend got the lavender lemonade spritz and the dessert pretzels. The drinks were made to perfection and the flavors all shined through. The dessert pretzels were pretty good too! He has such great experience and he helps you find out what you might be missing and fills in the gaps when you need it. He is super knowledgeable and he spends a bit of time sharing exactly what he will be using and why. You feel like you know the important pieces of being a DJ and you know you're in good hands. It's clear he enjoys this work and he has just as much fun curating and running the event as the people enjoying his music! That all being said the huge plus we felt was that he was on top of the timing for the event. He kept us informed where we were in the timeline, when we were getting off track and he gave us our options about how to get back on track for our event. For us it was the pictures our families got super chatty so everything got delayed and Johnny came up to us and gave us how far behind we were, and told us we can just move on to dinner or we could cut out the shoe game and give everyone some more time to get our pictures in. My favorite place on the planet is the Comedy Cellar in New York City. But we've made a point of visiting all the legendary clubs--Zanies, The Laugh Factory, The Comedy Store, and many others. Those places may have more history, but I honestly don't know that I've ever been in a nicer comedy room than Nate Jackson's. It's almost TOO nice! The staff was absolutely amazing, from security to the servers to Nate himself, who was out walking through the crowd and interacting with everyone. I'm a huge comedy nerd. I've seen every comedian on my bucket list, including Dave Chappelle six or seven times. But I never imagined I'd get to see Chappelle in a proper, intimate comedy room like this, especially right here in our own backyard! I cannot thank Nate and his team enough for bringing him to town and making a comedy nerd's dream come true. Seeing Dave Chappelle in a room like this was an experience I'll never forget. I can only imagine the absolute chaos behind the scenes trying to pull off shows of this magnitude. But you would never have known it from the staff. Everything ran beautifully, and everyone was professional, friendly, and on top of their game. Top-notch experience from beginning to end. Nate, you've built something truly special. I absolutely love the new location, and I can confidently say it's one of the finest comedy clubs I've ever visited.
