Mike did a great job at our wedding. We had so many people telling us how great the wedding was. Many people saying it was one of the best, or the best they had ever been to. Mike was a big part of that. He worked well with me on the music selection before and during the dancing and he took requests from all the guests and we had a lot of people dancing all night who didn't want to leave. He worked great with our coordinator and all the transitions in our wedding went very smoothly. His emcee skills were excellent and he had charisma, excitement and confidence in his announcements. Note: If you are having a wedding, hire a coordinator, or designate a friend of family member with a well put together plan. Don't expect the DJ to be your wedding coordinator and then blame him for your own lack of preparedness like another review here did. Mike is highly detail oriented, which is very important for a wedding. It does mean he's going to ask you a lot of questions beforehand and make you aware of a lot of things you probably had no idea mattered, but they really do. You don't want to have some clown who doesn't know how things work and sells you on the illusion that this is an easy job and all you need to do is find the lowest bidder. Then they go and screw up something special like your toast because there's a bunch of people not paying attention and the sound is too low. Happens all the time when you skimp on your DJ. Take my advice, it's one of the most important days of your life. Pay for a DJ with a lot of experience and knows what they are doing. I cannot say enough about how amazing of a job Mike did at our wedding. As some people may know, the last minute tasks of a wedding are insane. You plan, plan, plan and then the day comes and you have a million things to do before the event. The last thing you want is somebody showing up and needing your attention. Mike was not one of those people. He showed up on time (which is very impressive since our wedding was in the middle of woods in Bella Vista), he asked me where we wanted him to set up, and then he left me alone. One thing that Mike made very clear before the wedding day was that it is our wedding, but he has a lot of experience on how to make the reception as much fun as possible. He is not kidding. I seriously cannot imagine how much different our reception would have been had Mike not been our DJ. He was professional, funny, and engaging. He also did a great job of staying in the moment and playing the best songs for the moment. My dad did a toast which included detailing my first word (cheeseburger...) and after the toasts were finished Mike played Jimmy Buffet's song Cheeseburger in Paradise. That may not sound like much, but it certainly didn't occur to me that it would be a funny inclusion. Also, the crowd LOVED it. This man knows what he is doing. From the beginning he was very detailed about the timeline of events and logistics to get the best sound for the ceremony and reception. He was open with his advice and experience but also more than willing to stand back if you had things handled yourself. He guided the guests and kept things running smoothly. Every song on our list was played and he handled requests graciously. We hired Mike for our wedding this past summer. I will start with the positive. We gave Mike a playlist of songs that he had to play during the dancing part of the wedding... he did an AMAZING job mixing the music and keeping the crowd going. The music choices were from us so can't give him credit for that, but his mixing was great and the dance party was phenomenal. He worked later than projected because we were having such a great time on the dance floor. The whole crowd really appreciated it. Now for the negative part of the review. Wedding vendors can go either way when it comes to handling the stress of a wedding. They can go with the flow and do their job with a smile on their face or then can absorb the stress and displace it on the members of the wedding party and guests. Mike did the latter. There were a couple of moments where members of the wedding heard comments made on the microphone by Mike that were negative and unnecessary. I believe this was due to the "flow" of events at our wedding. We were under the impression that if we provided him with a song list for each part of the wedding (cake, bouquet toss, first dance, etc.) that he would lead the reception with no questions asked. This was not the case... he approached us a couple times with questions and we had to have wedding party members communicate with him and help him with the wedding events timeline. There were other forces that made this difficult and I have to say Mike did the best he could to keep the crowd moving and perhaps we didn't provide him with enough details because we assumed he would lead the reception in his own way, but he showed a negative attitude during the process. I am giving him 3 stars because I feel that being a DJ at a wedding is a HUGE responsibility. You are the MC/Host of the wedding and you need to be positive, friendly, and energetic. Even though Mike did amazing job with the music, he was lacking in the attitude department. If you are going to hire him I would recommend sitting down with him and spelling out the wedding timeline so that he knows EXACTLY what you want and are expecting. Make sure there is no room for questions on the night of the wedding. read more

Things started out awesome with Mike, up until the day I realized I was no longer getting married. Not only was he rude and unprofessional when we tried to contact him. We called numerous times, ahead of the wedding date that way he would be able to fill the space for the date, and he had no problem texting but could not answer his phone (knowing he was in the wrong) I am going to school for business management and number one thing when it comes to customers is, never text your problems or issues with business. Always phone call or face to face. When he texted us he had the nerve to tell us he was "very upset so had to go work out at the gym to let off steam" yet here we are heartbroken we are no longer getting married. Instead of handling the situation in a better manner, or even asking if everything was okay or how we were handling it all; he made it about him. So we spoke with a lawyer and let him know what he was doing was not only unprofessional, but illegal. The contract stated it was none refundable if you don't cancel within 90 days, but it was already void due to the fact we signed it 30 days before the wedding date. So right there, the contract wouldn't hold in court. We will take further action, but just wanted to let everyone know how unhappy we were and how he should have just simply gave up back out money, made it simple. Instead I will make sure that everyone I know personally does not hire him. read more

I can't imagine having had a better DJ to work with for our wedding than Mike. He was great to work with, meeting with me multiple times well in advance of the wedding, getting what we love, like, and definitely don't want. He also had valuable suggestions on a layout for our outdoor reception that maximized guest involvement on the dance floor - we followed his suggestions, and it worked very well. We were so busy prior to the wedding, we didn't have a lot to give him, maybe 8 or so songs, so he intuited music that fit perfectly. We had a delay in start time for our wedding ceremony caused by an auto accident that re-routed traffic, and so Mike's extensive experience paid off as he played music that was perfect for the delay. He also worked with me so that I could have a live worship team for part of the ceremony, and recorded music part of the ceremony. At the reception, as soon as that first Stevie Wonder tune started, the dance floor was electric and lively, and everyone had a great time. He made it fun and knows how to keep the party going. Mike's fee is very reasonable, and he has something like 15 years of experience, so you really can't go wrong. If you're getting married anywhere in the Northstate, I highly recommend DJ Mike Flanagan to be your DJ. read more

My husband to be and myself met with Mike about 6 months before our wedding. We liked him but did not officially sign a contract till about a month later. We did not give any money at the time of the contract signing, he had said to pay him later would be just fine.Time goes by and we hear nothing from him. We then contact him a few times about a month before the event, about paying him and the playlist. He responded about a week later. We then set up an appointment about two weeks before our wedding. The day of our meet. He calls us 20 minutes after our appointment time. He tells us "It is nothing personal, I like you guys but I booked another wedding on the same day, I haven't received any money from you and so these other people already paid me ..... so I don't know what to do..." he said..True we did not give him money..... But we have a signed contract.This is not professional. If you have a signed contract with someone wouldn't you have the common courtesy to talk to them before booking another gig 2 weeks before an event. maybe to some, but obviously not to all. Later I then heard from a friend that he had done the same thing to her about 2 years earlier. But even with all the stress that we ended up facing we found a DJ, a better one, so maybe it was devine intervention to prevent us from getting the DJ that was not right for us. read more
