There were few people in line at 11:30am on a Sunday. Perhaps they were all at either St-Viateur or Fairmount or at one of the many summertime events happening, but I won't complain. The service was very prompt and the staff were polite. I ordered the saumon fumé on a sesame bagel and ate it there. This hit the spot. The bagel was nice and dense, the hole was large (like the traditional Montreal style bagel), and it wasn't too heavy on the cream cheese. Definitely worth the trip to Griffintown to get one of these!

Even the smoked salmon tasted very low quality. The bagel did have a nice crunchy texture on the outside but the inside was way too soft with not enough chewiness. Perhaps I'm biased since I really believe I had some of the best bagels in Manhattan but this place did not even come close.

Sesame and all dressed is a 0.25 cent charge and the cheese bagel is a 0.50 cent charge. They make them fresh and it's fast service and efficient. I've also eaten at this location and it is quite busy but when it's not the tables are nice except for the back corner that is a bit dark.

What initially perked my interest was from their vegan Indian selection. Found myself eager to test out their Vegan Chicken Vindaloo, which they heated up for me from the prepared food fridge. (The range in Bagel on Greene's prepared food set warrants a further investigation if you live nearby.) Since it was something I've enjoyed all my life, I order their round, baked traditional Potato Knish... somewhat in size between the frozen Mini Knishes my mom always made as a side and the larger New York Lower East Side's Yonah Schimmel version. Of course, the Karnautzel long sausages caught my attention. I was expecting to get brown Deli mustard, but only Yellow and Dijon were available. Finally, two new for me Zero Sugar sodas to drink: 7up and Dr Pepper. Note - Other options available beyond a bagel/deli selection include: a small buffet tablet with other heated items, Spring Rolls, Spicy Potato & Vegetable Rolls, Cheese Rolls, non-traditional Knishes, Pakoras, cookies like Gingerbread Men. My Vindaloo tasted great... the vegan chicken substitute did not make me miss the chicken!!! The Knish, topped with poppy seeds, was pretty good. The Karnautzel, less my thing, wasn't that bad too! Those Zero Sugar sodas... didn't miss the sugar either! All good! Bagels on Greene isn't a fancy place, but the reasonably priced, wide offering of tasty items should provide something of interest for a meal. On every morning of our recent four-day visit to Montreal, we stopped here for breakfast. The wide range of croissants and other baked goods, both sweet and savory, made for some tough decisions, but the selections were unfailingly fresh and delicious. With large picture windows, seating, and bagel production able to be watched, it ended up to be a good choice. Chose Kettlemans Pumpernickel Bagel with Light Cream Cheese, a Cinnamon Puff, and a Coffee. The friendly attendant provided a pager while he prepared my baked goods. Kettlemans house coffees happen to be Lavazza, so selected the Dark Roast option. The great, super fresh Bagel also was half coated in Sesame. All was perfectly delicious at Kettlemans - plus sitting there enabled me to see one of their bakers rolling bagels, people watch, and charge my phone! Noted they had other enticing specialty treats that, had I not been on vacation with a full agenda, would have tried. Might consider next time trying their Sesame Bagel Dog! Visiting Montreal for the first time and the Canadian hockey club team stadium store. Had a long…read moreday of walking through this very large city, enough to build up anxiety in any common person. However, got close to the end of our day and saw Kettlemans Bagel store across the way from the stadium and decided to give them a try. They were not to busy at the moment, I'm sure when the hockey season is in play they get packed. The gentleman that took our order at the check in was nice and patient. I'm sure that it didn't help that we did not speak French, which seems to be the main language here in Montreal. I got the BLT and tots, the family got sandwiches as well and tots. They did have a little hiccup with our order, they forgot one of the tater tots. I let them know and they were super apologetic and made another fresh batch for us. They have an area where you can see them cutting up the dough and roll up the bagels to be made. There is an outdoor seating area (it's like a patio) or you can sit inside mostly barstools and a couple tables with chairs. The Bathroom you need to get the key from the counter, bathrooms were a bit on the dingy for being a locked up bathroom. The restaurant itself looked clean and well kept. The sandwich was good, bagel was a bit on the chewy side. Like I said the staff was nice which was the best part of the visit here.
