Devlin Energy

Devlin's installation of a Tesla Powerwall at our Cape Cod home succeeded but was a complicated…read more experience. Of the dozen installers Tesla recommended (after two years on Tesla's waiting list), only Devlin responded offering a quotation. Their price was compatible with the general install market (well known to be overpriced). The sales process was quick and offered us responsive opportunities to customize the installation. The move to installation planning and scheduling would have failed of its own accord due to turnover of staff and their chronically ignoring emails and voicemails. No one ever picked up a phone. Using extraordinary strategems for five months we were finally able to secure an install date but it was cancelled the afternoon before the promised date. A second promised date months later was also aborted during the afternoon before the promised date. In both cases this was because the schedulers had not secured a battery when they committed to a date. As we had already paid more than $16,000 eight months before, we had to invest more extraordinary effort to secure an install within the tax year to obtain our tax credit. When Devlin secured a battery the installation turned out to be technically and artistically excellent. We are very pleased with the result, though owners have to read up and think carefully about how to configure the Powerwall's charge/discharge configuration, which is not explained, not transparent, and not intuitive. With these caveats we conditionally recommend Devlin so long as the intending customer fully understands the lengthy and strenuous effort required to complete an install, given the marked contrast between the firm's technical and management competencies evidenced by our experience. Difficult as the experience was, we would never have been able to install the Powerwall had Devlin not bid on the project. We have corresponded with the owner who is aware of these problems and who may move to resolve them going forward.

I will update this review as needed. I contracted and gave a…read moredeposit to Devlin for an energy system 10 months ago. The system was finally installed a week ago, after paying Devlin 95% of the total cost, but the Town inspector did not approve the installation so the system is not operational.

Had our Sun Power solar system turned on recently in Barnstable Village and we are loving it! It…read moregenerates plenty of power to run all electric appliances, central AC and charge my Tesla. E2 Solar made the process simple and their professional crew was outstanding. Something to think about if you live on Cape and want solar is our limited amount of sun. Even though Sun Power panels are a premium product and priced accordingly, they are the best at capturing diffuse light(when it's cloudy) and that was very important to us. Highly recommend E2 Solar!

We literally just turned our solar system on yesterday - so I don't have a history yet, but our…read moreexperience with E2 has been outstanding from beginning to this point. Their sales person was thorough, knowledgable and we never felt we were being pressured or rushed. They were willing (and not every provider is) to have their engineer come and go up on our roof (in addition to the satellite estimate for production) to inspect our shingles, etc. - they were 22 years old and needed to be replaced (which was not unexpected), but he also identified some other things to address. Other vendors wanted us to sign the contract before they'd do that! E2's in-office administrator has been relentlessly helpful, friendly, knowledgable and has made getting through the applications and approvals (from the State, power company, etc) a non-issue. She has taken a lot of time to explain things and help us navigate what can be very confusing details as you get going. E2's installation crew was, if anything, over-qualified. There were three certified master electricians on site (as required by law for the size of the job). Apparently, not every company fully complies with this requirement. Their installers made a point of working around our concerns for ground-level gardens and the house and the whole thing happened in a few days with virtually no disruption to us. I can't think of one area where E2 didn't excel. I can't speak to longer term service or quality, but we went with them because we believe that SunPower offers a better quality product and E2 is local and have been around. Plus, three of our friends/neighbors are working with them as well - so...safety in numbers? An unqualified rave so far. !!!!
