Dixon is situated at the top end of Pydar Street. It is a shop selling similar items to Currys and Comet but at higher prices. The shop is very tacky inside and as the staff are on a battle for comission they can be really pushy. read more

Needed to walk in buy it and leave as difficult keeping a 2 year old safe in an appliance shop. However it wasn't quite that easy. Arrived to a manager going for his break and handing over to another member of staff. They spent 20 minutes supporting another family who didn't know what they wanted. They did check the stock for us on the item but couldn't serve us as the where handing over for break and serving this other family. The other person who working the TV section had spoke to everyone else browsing except us. 40 minutes later and the manager was returning from break and we're still stood waiting with a toddler who is about to wreck the joint. Given my partner was now cross he approached the manager and told him if we didn't have a TV purchased in 5 minutes we where leaving. How strange that within 5 minutes a TV was in the car. Shocking service - Confused if they want to make money or just help people browsing. Could have got it more easily offline but wanted to support local business. Back to online shopping next time. Small car park.

However this car park fills very quickly at peak times so I would recommend getting there early. The store itself is quite large with a balcony above the shop floor where there is a Moban shop. There is also and enclosed plant section on the side of Homebase. The staff are usually quite helpful and the prices are quite average. If you are doing up your house I would recommend looking in Homebase to buy your materials as they do have a lot of DIY goods.

I bought my most recent phone from here and found the shop overall to be very good. The prices are slightly higher than on over networks on pay as you go but there are ways to save money. If you are already a O2 pay as you go sim card with credit, it is worth looking here as they let me get a new phone without a new sim card for cheaper. Another way to save money is to bring in an old phone to trade in, they will then take £10 off the price of your new phone and send the old one to charity. Although it can be quite busy the staff are friendly and I did not feel rushed. They may not be the cheapest but the staff are good.

For starters when you get there you have to walk up a flight of very utilitarian stairs before you see anything to write home about but once you go into their enormous hall of mountains of fabrics in edible colours, I warn you, you'll be like a little kid in Santas Grotto. It is just sooo incredibly huge, there are fabrics and yarns and notions I had never seen before. The colours were like something out of an old masters painting. It took all my effort to tear myself away. I thought places like this only existed in America....TG we have this........a real emporium!
