I found this place by accident - and my eyes almost popped out of their sockets. I know they've a big online presence but I'm talking about their 'bricks' premises. For starters when you get there you have to walk up a flight of very utilitarian stairs before you see anything to write home about but once you go into their enormous hall of mountains of fabrics in edible colours, I warn you, you'll be like a little kid in Santas Grotto. It is just sooo incredibly huge, there are fabrics and yarns and notions I had never seen before. The colours were like something out of an old masters painting. You won't find a bigger selection of fabrics and general haberdashery in Truro than in Truro Fabrics. The staff are very friendly and helpful with queries on things like patterns and they also have an amazing selection of offcuts. To give an example, I bought material to make 4 bridesmaid dresses in there including all underskirt etc for £40 total from their offcuts section. Well worth a visit. read more

Not always as helpful as they could be. Telephone manner of a staff member on enquiring about an order was quite rude. Misleading about timing of orders. Some staff much more helpful than others. Labelling and pricing of fabric quite haphazard. Large selection of fabric and haberdashery but to be honest I doubt that I shall shop there again due to the unnecessary impolite and unhelpful manner of the person on the phone. I have not encountered an attitude like this person's previously although I have overheard staff discussing customers in a derrogatory way and been in the store when another customer was dealt with in a less than customer friendly way when she tried to return some unwanted wool. read more

I haven't been to the store, but I have used their web order service, and let me tell you, never again. First, they delayed with order dispatch for a week and half and when they finally send it, it was to the wrong address. 200 euros worth of fabric, that they won't refund now. I ordered some fabric from Truro Fabrics for a customer on Thursday. I had a tight deadline (4 dresses to make for Tuesday) so I phoned up to make sure it would arrive in time to get the dresses finished as there was not yet an option for next day delivery on the website. The girl I spoke to told me if I gave her my name she would get it sent out the same day. I went ahead and ordered the fabric on line, by that point the next day delivery option had appeared so I paid the extra (over £7) just to make sure it would come the next day. When it hadn't arrived on the Friday I phoned up again to check on my order to be told that it hadn't yet been sent and would definitely arrive by Saturday. When it still hadn't arrived on Saturday I phoned up AGAIN to be told that it would now arrive on Monday between 1 and 4:30, giving me one night to make the dresses! It is now Monday and I have just been told that the fabric was delivered next door at 12:49!!! I turned up at 1 because that's when I was told it would arrive. No note to say it had been left next door and now they are closed meaning I can't get it until 7:30 tomorrow morning giving me all of 9 hours to make 4 dresses. If I don't get them made I'm going to lose money and have a really disappointed customer! They weren't even that apologetic about it. Terrible service, I definitely wont be using them again!!! I have only given a 1 star rating because there doesn't seem to be an option to give zero stars! read more

Brilliant selection of materials and fabrics the staff are very friendly and the prices are reasonable. The shop is a bit like a maze tho take your radio and torch lol. read more

I've shopped here quite regularly as sewing is a huge part of my business. I've not really had an opinion on the customer service before but I've never come away feeling like a valued customer! But being completely ignored at the counter when no other customers were waiting and then having someone else being assisted before me made me feel very undervalued and I certainly won't be shopping here again! read more
