We only waited about 10 minutes for a table, but it got very busy shortly after we were seated and wait times increased quite a bit. It was a sunny, warm day and we sat outside under an umbrella, though there wasn't much shade coverage. The overall vibe is a casual, waterfront fish shack--laid-back and lively. We started with the stone crabs. While the crab itself was great, the mustard sauce was a little too mayo-forward for our taste and wasn't our favorite. For my entrée, I had the hogfish special served over sweet potato mash with green beans. The hogfish was fresh and delicious, but the sides missed the mark--the green beans were overcooked and the mash was a bit watery and lacked consistency. My husband and daughter both ordered the whole fried fish (yellowtail snapper that day), and they both said it was perfect and absolutely delicious. The fries were good, and while the red beans and rice were just okay, my husband really enjoyed the zucchini and tomato side. Service by Olivia was spectacular--attentive, kind, and always on top of everything we needed. We come back here every time we're in the area. We ordered the calamari, hogfish, crab cake sandwich, and a daiquiri. The highlight of the meal was definitely the hogfish -- it was excellent and I really enjoyed trying something local. It was well prepared and easily the standout dish. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn't quite measure up. The calamari came out cold, and the accompanying sauce felt generic and underwhelming. The crab cake sandwich had a similar issue -- it lacked freshness and depth of flavor. Have wanted to go here for a long time. Love the location on the back bay of Fort Myers Beach by the crab boats. Great relaxing environment. We went for lunch and did not have to wait to be seated. Service was very attentive. They even have local beers, love the support for our breweries. We got the grouper Reuben sandwich and grouper tacos. Our friend got the whole fried fish. Rode the bus across the bridge and then walked a little ways to get to this great place because parking is difficult. It was around noon on Sunday & we were able to be seated waterside. Guys had Yingling and we started with the best smoked fish dip. I had yummy Yucatán tacos with their chips and hubby believe it or not - - smoked chicken wings. I stumbled upon this bar right by the water, and the setting is stunning--especially with the Christmas lights during the holidays. I sat at the bar and had a fantastic experience thanks to the bartender; she was the highlight of the night and incredibly helpful with beer recommendations. Speaking of, the beer was delicious! We arrived at 5:30pm on a Friday and were quoted about a 45-minute wait for a table for four -- and they were pretty spot-on. As we walked through the space, the energy was undeniable. Live music, bustling tables, and a crowd clearly having fun. It stayed packed the entire time we were there. We kicked things off with the Moonshine Mussels (do yourself a favor and request extra bread -- that sauce is liquid gold) and the Loaded Chips, drizzled with tangy blue cheese. Then came the unexpected highlight: Stone Crab Claws -- fresh, cold, and absolutely incredible. We ate dinner at Dixie Fish Co Friday evening. We put our name in and told the wait time was 1 hour - 1:20 minutes. We walked next door to Bonita Fish company and had a drink at their bar. Our table was ready in roughly 45 minutes. The Yucatán Shrimp was wonderful. The grouper we had was ok but as good as I was hoping. The most disappointing part was the service. Our server was nice was but not super attentive. There were multiple times that I saw her chatting with another staff member excessively while standing near the bar, but she was clearly waiting for drinks but also used the time to socialize and I simply wanted a glass of water and another time a to go box. She didn't come check on us and tbh I felt like she didn't want to be there. We have eaten at their other restaurant (Doc Ford) and it was fabulous. So I'd recommend either Bonita Fish or Doc Fords over Dixie. read more

Stopped by Dixie fish co for lunch Sunday afternoon and had a nice experience. The wait was not long at all for us and we were seated promptly within 5 mins. The service was excellent -- our server was super friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out just right. The drinks were strong (in the best way) and hit perfectly with the warm weather and waterfront view. I ordered the build-your-own entrée with shrimp- Dixie style, fries, and coleslaw. The shrimp was slightly overcooked but still full of flavor, and the seasoning was delicious with the garlic butter. I also got a half dozen oysters -- they were on the smaller side but still fresh. It was worth the wait! We came during prime dinner time and was able to grab the last open parking spot in front of the restaurant. We waiting for about an hour but due to the raving reviews we decided to wait and see for ourselves. Started with fried green tomatoes and ceviche. Entree we ordered the hog fish with risotto. My boyfriend and I did a kamikaze trip to Ft. Myers to watch the beautiful sunset. Having arrived in the late afternoon, we were ready for dinner. Our hotel recommended the Dixie Fish Co. , and they were dog friendly so we decided to go. The restaurant is situated right on the water and has some beautiful views. And the outdoor seating allowed our dog to come with us. It was a rainy evening, but there was enough cover to keep us happy and dry. Michelle was our friendly server, and we quickly ordered fried green tomatoes to start. My boyfriend got the fish and chips, and I had the coconut encrusted grouper sandwich. The fried green tomatoes were perfectly fried and served with a delicious remoulade sauce. (I don't have a picture because we were pretty hungry, but they were great!) My boyfriend loved the fish and chips, saying they were crunchy, tender, and delicious. My grouper sandwich was so big and delicious, I could hardly get my mouth around it! (The dog, who is less discerning, loved it all) If I had any complaints, it would be that our waitress kind of forgot us after she dropped our food. It's hard to decide where to go for seafood since there is a plethora of restaurants between Fort Myers and Cape Coral. Located along the sunny shores, many places offer a fantastic taste of the coast with its fresh and locally sourced seafood , especially fish. Was going through Yelp to find a restaurant that serves whole fish and found Dixie Fish and Company. Service was prompt and friendly. It's an open restaurant, no AC, just ceiling fans, and surprisingly it wasn't hot for July 10th. There was a bit of a wait, and they were super busy for a table, but we were able to sit at the bar. The grouper cheeks appetizer was good, a tad salty. My friend and I had the whole fried fish of the day, yellowtail snapper, and wow!! It was incredible! The sides were zucchini and red beans and rice were also good, but I barely ate them because I wanted to finish the fish. And I finished the fish alright.... Nothing left but the skeleton. The food was star of the show even though the atmosphere was just calm water and lovely and jovial souls surrounding us. It was a 50min wait when my friend and I got here for dinner. We decided to wait and it was worth the wait. We enjoyed the view while waiting to be seated since this place sits right on the water. Location is going to be challenging once the snowbirds arrive. Parking is tight now. The views are very pleasant. I'm not a fan of high top tables and it seems most are just that. The fish and chips (American chips, not the usual English fries) was an enormous serving of 3 fat filets, shatteringly crispy exterior hiding a soft and tender chunk of fish- delicious, especially with their home made coleslaw. Going to go back in a month to see if it was as delicious as we remember! Service was initially pretty quick, but the place was crowded and we did not see our server again until long after the meal was finished. From what I could see, this is an all outdoor seating restaurant, unless I missed it, there was no indoor area. Food was alright. I got the loaded Nachos and Fried Grouper Cheeks. Nachos are nachos and came out fine, but I expected something more memorable from the Grouper Cheeks. Hard to distinguish from any other fried fish nugget. For the kids, chicken strips were small and boring, and the Mac and Cheese was legit Kraft Blue Box from the grocery store. Ohh, almost forgot, we had oysters and they were really good.
