I could say without a doubt it would never had been stress free or run so smoothly without the huge help of Jessica and her wonderful team aka her daughters (amazingness runs in the family). We were on a mission to find vendors who were able to work with us on flexibility and responsiveness. After a search high and low, I stumbled on Jessica! She really set our minds at ease and was super responsive. Never took very long to answer any questions or concerns we had. Her line of communication was always open. She also has a "I'm not a push over attitude" which is what you need in a wedding coordinator. She will get your vendors in line if any step out of line or are slacking or needs to be done right away. These were all great signs so we decided to go with Jessica as our day of coordinator. We spoke multiple times about what we expected and she covered all the bases even ones we totally didn't think about. The day of the wedding, we felt in good hands and the proof was in the pudding. Walking into the ballroom, I was taken back! The centerpieces and decor exceeded my expectations. She went above and beyond. It all was perfectly placed and beautiful. At some point before the reception, there was a little miscommunication with the DJ but she made it a point to make sure he understood our vision and not what HE thought was best. It was so awesome that I changed the name from "baby shower" to "baby wedding" because it was the most beautiful baby shower I or my friends and family have ever seen or been too! She is very crafty and made everything by hand. Everything that was there was authentic and original. She really puts a lot of time and thought into everything she does, she even goes above and beyond expectations. AND I am NOT exaggerating that at all because my boyfriend is the WORST! picky, boojie, fancy "Everything has to be perfect" worse than a bride on her wedding day kind of man. I've waited four years to write this because I needed to capture what really mattered. I needed to…read moredo it justice. Time has only made it clearer. Leila was the single best decision I made for my wedding, and not because she executed what I asked for, but because she understood what I meant. I never had to translate myself to her. She met me exactly where I was and elevated every idea without diluting any of it. My wedding was at the Safari Park, and I knew from the start what I didn't want: nothing theme-heavy, nothing literal, nothing that screamed like a "safari wedding" (aside from the giraffes grazing nearby). I wanted references that lived in texture, restraint, and atmosphere, not in props (understated elegance). Without me having to spell that out, Leila designed custom invitation suites with white-on-white embossed leopard print (who would even think of that?! Brilliant!!) It wasn't a pattern you could see across the room; it was something you discovered in your hands. It was a whisper you felt more than noticed, and that single choice set the tone for everything that followed. She understood the difference between symbolism and gimmick in a way I didn't have to defend or justify. The design choices carried through to the wedding itself, especially with the greenery. I came in wanting statement hanging installations of foliage. Many planners would have just told me it wasn't possible or promised it without checking. Instead, Leila pulled the venue blueprints and electrical wiring maps to see what the building could safely support. When we realized true overhead installs weren't feasible in that space, she didn't take it as a shutdown. She took it as a creative constraint. Her solution was to custom-build an elongated U-shaped head table wrapped in a canopy frame from which Edison bulbs and greenery were suspended. It was structural, intentional, and stunning. It gave me the presence and intimacy I imagined, but in a way that was more surprising and honestly even more beautiful than my original idea. Guests still talk about that installation without fully realizing the engineering and restraint behind it. And then there's the part of wedding planning people rarely talk about: how much of your energy gets consumed by other people's questions, expectations, emotions, and logistics. I was very clear that I did not want to be the point of contact before, during, or after my wedding. I didn't want texts asking about parking, schedule, seating, weather, gifts, hotel information, etc etc. I didn't want my brain pulled in a hundred directions when I was trying to be present for something that will only happen once. Leila took all of it out of my hands. She absorbed the noise. She protected my headspace. She let me experience my own wedding instead of managing it. I didn't fully appreciate how rare that is until I saw how many brides were overwhelmed on their own wedding days, running interference while I got to be in the moment. Leila is not just a planner or a designer. She is someone who listens beneath the surface and translates nuance into decisions. She can look at a space and see both meaning and math. She doesn't just make things beautiful; she makes them make sense. She respects budget, time, emotion, and architecture. She catches details before they become problems and turns constraints into the most memorable parts of the experience. Working with her felt effortless because she was doing the hard work where I didn't have to see it. If you want a wedding that looks like a template, there are plenty of planners for that. From our first meeting (and working around my hectic schedule at the time) right up until the day of our wedding, Sunflower Event Planning was so easy to work with! Shantay answered all of my questions (and I had LOTS of questions) and offered lots of advice. She let me run with my own ideas but also offered help whenever I asked for it. I really liked that Shantay emailed me about a month before to check in with me and see how I was doing and she did this about a week before my wedding as well. She asked my opinions about things I would have never thought of and gave great suggestions. As soon as she had all of my vendor's info she was in contact with them setting up a time line for the deliveries as well as the pickup. On the day of the wedding she checked on me a few times to see how I was doing and how I felt everything was going. I love that she kept in contact so much - even day of! She had my timeline on her at all times and when we were ahead of schedule, I got to choose how to fill the time, which I so appreciated. Most of our families were from out of town so we didn't have anyone to collect the gifts and extras from the venue, luckily Shantay agreed to keep our stuff for us for a couple of days so we didn't have to worry about it. When we got our belongings from Shantay, she let us decide when a good time was, she brought all of our stuff to us and even helped us unload it! I truly cannot say enough nice things about Sunflower Event planning - I was probably the most relaxed bride in history because there was no reason to worry - they had everything under control! Shantay was very responsive to emails, texts and phone calls and so encouraging every time we spoke. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone hosting a party! Our venue's coordination team did not compare to Megan. We mostly hired Megan to help us with our planning prior to the wedding since we were planning it from the Bay Area (and our wedding was in San Diego). We started working together about 10 months before the wedding and she attended all of our coordination meetings - bringing up things I never would've thought of on my own and helped to try to get us the best prices. She helped brainstorm things for our vision of the wedding, and offered tons of advice along the way. Once things started coming together she was a HUGE help in coordinating all my vendors, setting up a detailed timeline (this was seriously key) and following up on any and all unanswered questions. She managed all of our vendor contact - which was sooo helpful. Everyone knew to go to her before coming to me so I had a filter before any questions came to my inbox. When our timeline was nailed down, she did a great job of communicating it with everyone and making sure that everyone was well informed. We didn't have to worry about anything! On the actual day of, we had Montana as our onsite coordinator. She was also amazing!! She made sure everything went to plan and there were no snags in our timeline. I had little gifts for the bridesmaids that I wanted set up before we arrived on site, and she made this happen. We actually ran out of alcohol (twice!) and she was a hero and ran to the store to the grab us what we needed. I cannot thank her enough for doing this! I didn't have to worry about any of this during the day - she just confirmed once with us and the bar was restocked before we knew it. Not only was Megan amazing as a coordinator but she's an awesome human as well. She made sure that I was happy with everything and was SO readily available whenever I needed to chat - whether it be about a vendor, or any other detail that came up. Megan came recommended and trusted by the venue so we had faith in hiring her. She more than delivered to our expectations. With only six months to arrange our vendors Megan helped coordinate the various points of contact allowing us to focus on the personal logistics of getting married (legal, insurance etc) which took so much stress off of us. Each of our vendors praised Megan's thorough approach and organized planning when we went for our final walk-through. The day of the wedding Megan was busy ensuring our table arrangements matched our vision and communicated to the other vendors where to set up. She was everywhere. Megan also checked in with each of us personally to make sure everyone was moving according to schedule. We had heard that many weddings feel like they are running behind or pressured for time but we had none of that - likely due to Megan's great work. When the cocktail hour and reception came around there was one issue of bees attacking some of our food. Megan was on top of it and managed the situation wonderfully.
