She was also incredibly kind and reassuring whenever we felt overwhelmed or lost in the planning process. One of the things we appreciated most were the customized timelines and checklists she created specifically for us. They kept us organized, on track, and confident throughout the entire planning process, and everything ultimately couldn't have gone more smoothly. She had a way of streamlining our choices and guiding us toward decisions that felt right for us without ever making the process overwhelming. Karen was truly an incredible teammate, and it was clear that our other vendors were always excited to work with her. She consistently went above and beyond, and you could see the result on our wedding day--no stone was left unturned. We booked Andrea Abel in Fall 2019 for wedding coordination services for our Summer 2020 wedding…read more We met once with her in person for a venue walk-through, then COVID shut things down and we had to reschedule our wedding. Initially, Andrea was good about communicating with us, and assured us she'd be available on our new 2021 date. She said that the services we'd already paid for would just transfer to the new date. However, Andrea kept saying she was waiting on an attorney to help her draft an addendum to our 2020 contract for the new 2021 date. We reached out periodically to check on the availability of the addendum and each time she'd say no update. (In comparison, we had already signed addendums with all of our other wedding vendors within 2 weeks of setting the new date.) Literally 15 months went by and there was no addendum or update from Andrea. Sadly, by the time our rescheduled Summer 2021 wedding date arrived, Andrea had completely stopped responding to **all forms** of communication. We tried all the previous ways of getting in contact with her, including calling her cell, leaving voicemail, texting her, emailing her, and messaging her on her client portal (HoneyBook). Complete radio silence. Andrea ghosted us, took our deposit, and left us without wedding coordination services. Initially we tried to give her the benefit of the doubt; perhaps she had fallen ill with Covid, or some calamity had befallen her, such that she was completely unable to respond to her clients in any way? But we saw she's been posting new updates on her Instagram page, so she's definitely alive and able to communicate! To this date as we write this review, we have had no response from her, not even an apology or excuse for her completely dropping the ball on all forms of communication. Thankfully, we proceeded with our wedding with the help of family and friends. But, given our awful experience with Andrea, we feel compelled to warn others. We are extremely disappointed with the dishonesty and lack of professionalism from Andrea Abel and do not recommend her at all.

Cue the "looks like we have to spend money on yet another vendor" eye roll. I know, I feel you... but hear me out. Fast forward to now, 60-ish days post wedding day, and I can confidently say that I didn't just need a coordinator, I WANTED a coordinator. More specifically, I wanted Andrea and her team at Events by Abel. Despite the fact that we hired her for day of coordination, this woman went above and beyond, and made sure I was on track and comfortable with my planning progress for OVER A YEAR. During each check-in meeting, and more importantly on the big day itself, Andrea was kind, thoughtful, professional, funny, prepared, and ready to tackle whatever was thrown at her -- and then some. Despite the flaws, our wedding was flawless in my mind, and the bulk of the credit goes to Andrea. I recommend her without reservation.

I had a VERY specific vision for the night and they completely understood it from the beginning and helped bring everything together better than I could have imagined. From all of the planning leading up to the party to the actual day, they were both amazing. Alana made the whole process feel so seamless and I always felt like my vision was understood and in good hands. You can tell she genuinely cares about her clients and wants the event to be just as special as you do. There were even things they brought to my attention during the planning process that I hadn't thought of (which is saying a lot because I'm very Type A and genuinely thought I had thought of everything ). They had me consider little details I never would have thought about on my own and it ended up making such a difference. And Lauren was seriously ON IT. She was so organized, responsive, and thorough with all of the coordination leading up to the party. On the day of, she went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of the entire time. I never felt like I had to check on anything or make sure something was getting done because she was already on top of it. There were even things that came up the day of that they handled and solved before I ever knew there was an issue. That alone was worth everything to me. I was actually able to enjoy my own party, be present with everyone, and take it all in instead of worrying about what was going on behind the scenes. Alana and Lauren make such a great team and I genuinely don't know how I would have pulled off this party without them. Everything came together sooo beautifully and the night was everything I hoped for and more. I cannot recommend having an event planner or at least a day-of coordinator enough. It is worth every single penny and working with Godoy Events made me understand exactly why. I'm so grateful I trusted them with such a special milestone and already know exactly who I'll be calling when it's time to plan my wedding!!

I was definitely in the "i'm not like a regular bride, I'm a cool bride" category ( we might actually be more difficult, sometimes being too chill is actually harder ) BUT Melanie kept the important things super organized and made sure I had plenty of say in every decision. I didn't know how much I needed a Melanie, but now that the wedding is over I can say with confidence my wedding would have been a hot mess without her and there's NO WAY I could have enjoyed my day had she not been there. I got to soak up every moment of wedding day bliss instead of worrying about operational stuff. I had multiple dance performances planned and she made sure everyone was ready! Including me!! I had full faith in her ability and I knew she always had my best interest at heart. I'm in project management for my career so I was curious just how much help I would actually need in the coordination department. But Julia's insight and experience proved to be absolutely invaluable. There were a lot of moving parts for my formal wedding - very specific furniture and lighting plans, multiple music changes from musician to dj etc., and very detailed timelines that were pretty tight - I was demanding a lot from everyone involved that they would be on their A game to make it happen. There is close to no one I would trust to manage all of these moving pieces - except Julia! She was on it all from the first meeting til the end of the after party on the big day, which allowed me to relax and enjoy the evening with my husband, family and friends. I had a very specific vision that would not have come to life with out her!!! Frankly, they should be charging double for their services - they truly go above and beyond and add that much value to the planning process and big day. In the months leading up to my wedding, Jaclyn was so great about answering my questions, providing recommendations, and gently providing nudges for making decisions and staying on track. She asked questions at exactly the right time to get me thinking about each step of the wedding planning process in a manageable way. I was especially impressed with her communication style. She was so upfront about her schedule and would frequently let me know when she had weekend wedding events and ask if I had questions before a period of less communication. This let me know that (a) she dedicates herself fully to events, and (b) gave me the opportunity to ask her anything pressing in advance. She made herself so available for all of my questions and had an impressive response time. Jaclyn is a great people-manager. She's a pro at this and knows how to handle the different personalities of my vendors, family, and wedding party. She exudes calm and professionalism. I felt so taken care of and supported throughout the planning and especially on my wedding day. She solved so many issues I would've been an overwhelmed mess dealing with myself from vendors snafus to flexible guest counts to ensuring my ambitious wedding timeline the day of was fulfilled. On the day of my wedding, she brought a Marry Poppins bag to the bridal suite that could solve any problem you could think of that a bride or bridesmaids might have. I consider myself a detail-oriented planner, but much more than that is required to pull off a wedding. Jaclyn matched my energy, but went above and beyond considering things I never would have thought of. She made sure my husband and I's vision came to life and that everything went smoothly. We are forever grateful for having her help guide us through one of the most magical chapters of our lives that could have otherwise been incredibly overwhelming and stressful. Fellow couples having a destination wedding, look no further!!! To start, Kayla is truly a powerhouse of an advocate for the couples she works with and is responsible for making our wedding day be the most magical day of our lives. We know that without her, the wedding weekend we had and the circumstances of our wedding day wouldn't have been possible without her. We were so fortunate to have her in our corner through all of the ups and the downs through our 1.5 years of planning. Kayla is an absolute professional. Everyone always says your wedding day will not go perfectly and Kayla executed a 3 day weekend of events with very stressful weather concerns flawlessly while making it look easy and like there wasn't a stress in the world. I know that she protected my husband and I from so much stress and concern through our wedding and we are so grateful of the professional that she is. Kayla is organized, engaged and communicative. Multiple people from our wedding party from both budget and luxury end weddings have shared nightmare stories about their wedding planners being disengaged, uncommunicative and disorganized. However, Kayla exceeded our expectations in every area. She was communicative and responsive to both my husband and I through our entire wedding planning process and beyond, both as individuals and as a couple. She was engaged with our vendors and with our wedding planning. Also, as a type A bride with difficultly letting go of control, she was as type A organized as any event planner could dream of being and any bride could hope for! Often, the wedding planner is often forgotten or standing on the sidelines but not here - my family, wedding party and guests have been raving about Kayla since the wedding over two months ago. She kept a large bridal party focused and organized which is near impossible to do and helped everyone feel prepared for a chaotic weekend. So much so, the weekend was so calm and not chaotic for us at all. The things that could have gone wrong, didn't go wrong because of her and her alone. Kayla also made the wedding planning so fun for my husband and I from beginning to end. I have dreamed of planning my wedding for so long and it was very important for me to have a part in the planning process and not just be along for the ride. Kayla allowed me to walk alongside her through the process in a collaborative approach to wedding planning and not just be on the receiving end of decisions. Lastly, my husband and I both have strong personalities and opinions that often differ and she was patient, kind but also direct and honest with us. We needed someone who could provide us direct opinions and be transparent and honest through the entire process. She was able to do this exceptionally which furthermore describes how professional she is. We will be forever grateful to Kayla and the gift she has given to us of an incredible experience wedding planning and by allowing us to be a guest at all of our wedding events so that we could be present with our friends and family.

I'm very detail oriented and organized and even before I started wedding planning I didn't think I needed more than a day of coordinator and I was so wrong. My husband and I were originally getting married in Cancun Mexico in November 2020 but we had to postpone it to May 2021 but then travel restrictions forced us to postpone again and move our wedding location completely. We found a venue in San Diego we liked but they required us to hire a planner. By this point in the wedding planning process I was fed up and just wanted someone who could essentially take the lead and tell me what I needed to do. From the moment I had my first phone conversation with Kayla trying to find a wedding planner I immediately knew I wanted to hire her. Talking to her didn't feel like she was trying to sell me, she told me her whole philosophy and why she became a planner and how she works and how she grew and trained her team. She told me what was important to her and those things are what matched exactly what I was looking for in a planner. I could tell she genuinely loves what she does and is so passionate about being the planner that the couple needs. Kayla is the absolute sweetest but when she has to, she will lay down the law which is the perfect combination. She will have those honest conversations with you about your budget and if they matched your expectations and when those need adjusting. She also helped us stay on track in planning our new wedding in under 5 months. She made sure we were thinking about every detail and that we had a plan for everything. She helped us stay focused on what was most important to us, but she also made sure Sean and I were taking the time to still enjoy each other in the planning process and sent us some popcorn seasoning for a movie date night in. The month leading up to our wedding, it felt as though we were the only couple Southern House was working with and we're sure that is how every couple feels when working with Kayla and her team. Kayla accomodated to my busy work schedule and knew that texting and hoping on calls during my lunch breaks were the best way to get answers from me. She made sure all the major plans and details were buttoned up a week before our wedding so we could relax and enjoy the days leading up along with our wedding day. Kayla and her team exceeded our expectations on every aspect of planning and executing our wedding day. This day would not have happened if it wasn't for Kayla. Kayla went above and beyond. She worked with our other vendors and threw in extra surprises for Sean and I. Even though she wasn't there physically she was in constant communication with her team. Jessica, Jordyn. & Kellie were so amazing day of the wedding. They were so professional and executed everything perfectly.
