The Bahia requires that you designate a coordinator for the day, but you are free to either provide your own or work with one of their select coordinators (in which case the additional cost is folded into the contract). We opted for one of their coordinators, and are very happy that we ended up working with Jamie. She first met us the night before the wedding at our informal rehearsal, where she displayed incredible patience as we rehearsed our entrance skit over and over and over again, running significantly later than she was supposed to be there. The next day, she immediately became a solver of crises, discoverer of oversights, decorator of the reception venue, orchestrator of wedding party members, and - as if that wasn't already enough - learned to operate the sound console for the audio. When we found ourselves without a towel and needing to dry our hands, she instantly offered her sleeve. In short, every issue that came up while Jamie was present (from well before the guests arrived until we started dinner at the reception) was resolved seemingly magically, and every detail that could have slipped through the cracks didn't. Through it all she was also a warm, encouraging, and supportive presence, and even though we had just met, it almost felt like she was a member of the wedding party. I booked her early and we initially just did a couple meetings to discuss our vision and needs regarding coordination, vendor contracts and florals since we did not need a full-planning service, only partial. The last 2 months is where she really shined, helping us follow up with vendors on details, setting deadlines for me to book rentals, reviewing contracts and constantly doing sanity checks when I needed it.
