This school is garbage. Plain and simple go someplace else. 3 out of the 5 instructors were respectable the other 2 should move on. Job placement is a joke and half of the certs are junk because they're in house. In the end its all about money 30k a student and the facility is trashed read more

What a disappointing experience for my son. We drove 15 hours to this school. Only to hear from 3 current students, who were also his new housemates, that the place was a sham. We thought we did our homework, but after hearing this first hand from students, there was no way to deny the fact that the place was a joke. We pulled out of the school within less than 24 hours of arriving and a week before classes were to start. Wasted trip, and all that fun stuff... but that is on us. Here is where things get ridiculous...the school helps you to arrange housing. They hooked us up with Michelle Allen and Irene Stefanopolous who own several rental properties in the area. We made contact with Irene on July 25th, 2019. Arrived in New Jersey at 2 pm July 29th, signed our lease and paid $1275.00 ($600 rent, $600 deposit, and $75 key deposit). After talking to my son's housemates, we had a lot to talk about, so we went to a hotel to work things through. By 10 am the next morning, we informed my son's new landlord's of the situation and that we would be heading back home. Irene was going to call Michelle and get back to me as to what they were going to do. After a day and a half with no response, I reached out again and received a response from Michelle who was waiting to hear from the school about what happened. The school??? What does the school have to do with you renting to my son??? Anyway, I called Michelle and told her what happened. She of course expressed her disappointment with our experience, but hoped I realized that as a matter of business, they were unable to return any funds to us. They had missed opportunities to rent the room in the time that they had offered it to us. I am a businesswomen as well and understand all of this and understand what it means to sign a lease.... but really??? We were in the state of New Jersey for less than 24 hours! And, there was another room available in the same house that my son was in, so they certainly did not turn anyone away on our account. A life lesson for my son and a really crappy representation of humanity. Business is business and I get that, but there is such a thing as grace and kindness. As I told both Michelle and Irene, even in business, those who offer grace in a situation like this tend to prosper more than those who do not. If I could rate this place with a zero I would. I'm a recent graduate from divers academy and I have plenty negative things to say. First off they start by saying your family now. Well your not there are few instructors that are to help and take care of students and a teacher that is nasty and wants to fight student. It's a place of false advertisement and lack of integrity. I've reached out to the school multiple times since I have left because I still have no job. Tammy brown the "leader" and owner of the school will not answer a phone call or return voicemails. The lady's in the front are simply amazing and try there best. I was tossed through the courses because of a small class. I felt like I was taken advantage of. I was not taught properly for a course and squeezed it in the day before my final. I gave a surprise visit to Tammy and the school and told me to come back after 4 and was disrespectful to me. As I was speaking to someone in the front office and catching up Tammy came over and gave her a code and pulled her away. Once again disrespected. I paid this school to treat me like garbage or a fly on the wall. Find a better school! It's misleading and false advertising to the fullest! read more

Divers Academy is a complete waste! I just graduated from there a few months ago. To start, the admissions process is a joke because as long as you send them a $125 check, you're accepted. The first month of school you dont even see the water, an instructor who is not even a commercial diver teaches you things you'll never need in diving (except for knots). After your first month is when the 30,000 dollar circus begins. The military veteran instructors are the best you could ask for, as for the other instructors they fill your head with garbage about the "industry". Underwater welding is literally just teaching yourself how to run a bead on a plate, then show the instructor and he gives you a thumbs up even tho it looks like a monkey just did it. You get "graded" on your weld plates, 85% of my classmates were never asked for their test plates and somehow received the same grade on it. Putting together bolt on flanges were also test scores, I didn't do any of them and still got a 90 on every one, but sometimes if you did do them they would somehow LOSE your score, that happened to a few classmates of mine. And good luck finding bolts and wrenches, with all the money the school makes, it doesn't get used for whats needed. Cheating on tests is accepted. Students stealing thousands of dollars worth of classmates equipment is never taken care of even if the thief is caught red handed, no police called or anything. It happened to me personally, 100 dollars out of my wallet. When you're diving you just walk around underwater, there's no tasks to complete, the pneumatic tools were never even spoken of while I was there even though they have them to use. As for the facility, it's decent, the bathroom is destroyed and has never been fixed, microwaves in the lunch area don't work, the classrooms are big enough though. You buy equipment from the school marked up 200%+, and you're not required to buy it there but they use your ignorance against you and pretty much shove it down your throat and if you bring your own gear they give you a hard time about it. The classes don't mean jack, you sit there and watch slideshows as an instructor reads them, you dont learn much other then what the instructor is reading. Job placement is non existent, you dont learn how to write a resume, I figured it out on my own and handed it in for a grade, after that I never heard another thing about it. The curriculum is just a bunch of bs. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this is the exact experience I had at this school, I read bad reviews before I went but didn't heed the advice and still went, and regret every dime spent. I'm sure you'll have the same experience as I and every student I met there had. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE to become a commercial diver, Divers Academy will only bring you down not build you up. Wow, what a poorly run company from start to finish. I applied for a sales job at this facility and the Director who interviewed me is the most disrespectful, uncooth, immature and unprofessional person I've ever had the unfortunate privilege of meeting. Apparently its a common practice of theirs to place random ads on Craigslist for employment as a joke thinking "no one will show up." Yes, these are actual words I overheard from her mouth prior to her interviewing another potential employee, before she belittled and berated him right out the door. I was so taken back by her conduct, I had trouble taking MY interview seriously. When asked why I applied for a Sales Position without any prior experience in the field, I responded, "Well I'm attempting branch out and develop my professional skills in other aspects of industry." To which she gruffly remarked, "I THOUGHT you would have read the ad." All the while in my head thinking...You read my email which contained my resume, wrote me a reply, and scheduled this interview!!! How can one person be such a human resources nightmare?! My thoughts are, if this is how they conduct themselves operationally, I wouldnt pay them money to teach me an occupation that could potentially get me killed. Just my two cents... read more
