The best swim school we have been to. Clean and great staff. My son takes lessons there and absolutely loves it.

If you're looking for a low cost place to swim near Mount Laurel, NJ - this is it!…read more The Wahoos Swim Club's main purpose is youth swim teams. But during the day, they open to lap/fitness swimmers like me. Current hours (Jan, 2020) are 7-3pm. 25 yard pool, 7 lanes. No weekend lap swimming. But at an annual cost of $310 for an adult membership (less than $26/month), Wahoos is the most affordable pool I know of. And here's another huge plus: cooler pool temps - usually between 79-82... and one more awesome Wahoo's quality: low chemical levels in the pool. The club just underwent a thorough remodel - very clean and neat, but basic - not all dolled up like the $$$$ health clubs. I've never seen it over busy during lap swim hours. For my money, it's a great value!

This is a nice deal, so I don't have to join a separate gym or pool to swim. That said, if my gym didn't have that deal, I would not join Wahoos outright. Their open lane hours are very limited (6:15 AM. to 3:00 PM. during the week, and some later night hours on the weekends), and basically the only time I am able to get there is at 6:15 AM., before work. It seems that this swim club mainly caters to swim TEAMS, and not the individual athlete. Because of that, the pool is pretty full at that time of morning, as the before-work crowd is all trying to get in. I can't imagine actually paying for a membership to this pool with such limited hours. The facility is a bit dated, but clean nonetheless. The 8-lane pool is always clean and a nice temperature - I'm comfortable in the water after only 1 lap, and never overheated. There are plenty of kick-boards for use, and the life guards on duty are always pleasant. For now, I will continue to utilize the Wahoos pool since it is included in my gym membership, but I'd really prefer to have more options as to what time of day I can swim.

The front desk team is always friendly, flexible, and incredibly helpful when it comes to scheduling make-up classes. A special shoutout to coaches Maribel and CJ --they've been exceptionally professional, patient, friendly and consistently encouraging. Their clear instruction and positive energy have truly boosted our daughter's confidence and swimming skills. I also highly recommend the Summer Clinic Program--the daily evaluations really accelerated her growth and gave us great insight into her progress. It's a safe, supportive, and fun place for any child to learn to swim.I highly recommend it to other parents!

Her current instructor is beyond amazing though. Our biggest problem with Bear Paddle is the facility. It feels disgusting. I understand the locker room will be wet, but the floor always looks dirty too, and it doesn't feel just wet, but slimy. It smells like strongly of urine half the time, and sometimes feces. Which leads me to believe they don't clean well enough and they likely need their drains cleaned. The floors in the changing rooms have gunk buildup. The walls are filthy. They need a professional cleaning service to clean multiple times a week, the floors need an acid wash and to be disinfected everyday. The walls need to be cleaned. I don't want to sound harsh or nit picky, I just don't think it's asking too much for cleanliness to be a high priority in a facility where kids and families change and expose their bodies to water, floors, benches, etc. Particularly for what they charge, considering they don't offer more flexible payment setup options. I don't want to keep my bank info on file, and the fees for cards are obnoxious---the tuition never seems to stay the same month over month either. Again, really do love most of the staff and instructors--and I love how far our kids have come by going here. But I'm to the point where we are probably going to have to switch schools, because I can't risk my young ones by exposing them to whatever is going on with that locker room.

We love AHK's instructor and love the ability to makeup classes when we need to. The facility is clean and they do a great job at communicating if there are any changes to the schedule. Prices are comparable to the other neighboring swim schools, but we liked Goldfish because they are offered times on Sundays, which works best for our schedule. We look forward to many more years here!

We have decided to pull our child from this facility and look elsewhere. Two major issues remain unaddressed: Freezing Showers: Ever since the renovation in December 2025, the showers are unusable. The water turns ice-cold after just a couple of minutes. Expecting children to rinse off in freezing water--especially during the winter months--is unacceptable. Lack of Instructional Time: Each 30-minute session is crowded with 4 children. By the time the instructor rotates through everyone, each child gets very little actual "learning" or active swimming time. It feels more like expensive supervised splashing than a swim lesson. We joined Goldfish expecting a premium experience, but the lack of maintenance and the poor student-to-instructor value have made it impossible to stay. If you're looking for a school that values feedback and prioritizes student progress, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
