THE WORST! My husband took our dive gear into Dive Utah for a yearly (tune-up. We go diving in Bonaire and do coral cleaning/planting for a couple of months. We dive twice a day, luckily not deep. After a few dives I noticed a slow leak. I took it to the dive repair shop and guess what?! The o rings were old. They had never been replaced. This is SCUBA. Dive Utah is putting lives at stake by taking money and then doing nothing! Don't go here. read more

We did a drysuit certification course with Kevin G. and enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish. Firstly, Kevin was extremely accommodating with our schedule to coordinate the drysuit training. Secondly, Kevin has a very laidback and calming personality that made the whole process completely stress free and enjoyable. The classroom instruction wasn't boring and covered all of the important things to know about drysuit diving. Kevin was easy to connect with and extremely personable. Finally, our time in the water was maximized by focusing only on the necessary things we needed to know. The pool instruction was really beneficial and Kevin worked with each of us individually to show us the skills we can improve on. The open water instruction which took place at Seabase Boneville was focused only on nailing down the skills necessary to master Drysuit diving so that no time was wasted in that gross water. I got a great deal on my PADI open water certification. Dave helped me get my dates all setup. He was very responsive via email and helped with class/dive scheduling. Steve was my main instructor. You could tell he loved diving and was very in charge of every situation we encountered. The guy made the whole ordeal fly by very smoothly and had a ton of enthusiasm. He was also very accommodating getting in my 4 open water dives up at the Crater. I was getting certified for a trip that was within a week of my certification, so he wrote me a temporary certification card and sent me on my way. My official PADI card came a couple weeks later. I can't thank him enough for his flexibility. Everything was perfect except for the insecure bro-tastic douchebag in my class who just HAD to make everything about him. I tried to hold it in, but I kept inappropriately laughing at his childish shenanigans. I truly felt bad for his wife by the end of the course... She knew... I wanted to give credit to Kevin Godfrey at Dive UTAH for being such a Fantastic instructor. The whole shop was great to deal with from the moment I signed up for the classes. They were extremely organized and class started on time every night. Which is great for those of us with tight schedules. For each class we did an hour or two in the classroom and the pool time with each night. Kevin was my instructor and you can tell that he is passionate about diving and wants to share that. He also wants to make sure you are save and feel calm about diving. He was very knowledgeable in the classroom and in the water. Kevin did a great job of explaining the content and also taking time to make sure you felt comfortable with the exercises that you need to complete in the pool. I never felt rushed or nervous which were two things that I was worried about. I would highly recommend Dive Utah and Kevin for anyone looking to get certified! I have wanted to dive for 25 years. When I married my wife 18 years ago, we both said we would do it. But life gets in the way and it kept getting put on the back burner. After she passed away 6 years ago, I promised myself I would certify with our son as soon as he was old enough and confident enough. Well, that time was last weekend. Gary taught our weekend class and right off the bat, helped my son to feel at ease (he was worried about being the only 11 year old in class). He consistently elevated my son's confidence, and mine as well. He answered all our questions, was incredibly patient with us and truly helped us have a remarkable and wonderful first experience breathing underwater. Our OW dives are tomorrow and Saturday and diving is all my son and I have talked about all week. I can't recommend Gary enough! Now as for the shop, they have so many toys to look at and you can tell they are serious about diving, not just serious about making $. The perks of being a student (mind you, these are LIFETIME perks) are outstanding. We can come and use the pool to practice anytime, free of charge. We are offered a discount on gear...heck, we were even invited on a trip to Sand Hollow! Dive Utah has my absolute trust and admiration. read more

I was nervous about learning to scuba dive. It wasn't my idea, initially, by my family decided to learn how to do it, and I decided I would give it a try. There is a lot to learn! However, I am so glad that we took our scuba lessons from Dive Utah, specifically, the instructors Gary and Stacy. They make a fantastic team. If ever anyone was uncertain on a point of scuba knowledge, or unable to perform a skill, they were incredibly patient with them, and worked with them until it was a piece of cake. They are also both extraordinarily good at keeping a very positive attitude at all times, no matter the work ahead. I am so happy now that I have learned to scuba. Gary and Stacy brought me from nervousness and uncertainty about scuba diving as a whole, all the way to genuinely loving it, feeling confident in my skills, and excited to use them soon! My twin sons and I got certified at Dive Utah 15 years ago. When my wife decided recently to become certified we decided to look at other dive shops but the decision came down to Dive Utah. Let me start off by saying that nothing in SCUBA is cheap but if you shop around you'll find that all shops cost about the same. They just package things different as a marketing ploy. I signed up for a refresher for $75 and attended most of the classes and in house dives. Our instructor Steve, was a no BS guy and very knowledgeable. He said that he had instructed over 1000 divers and I believe him. He knew his stuff and our confidence in him was very high. Parking on class nights is on the street and the pool can be very crowded. read more

I don't think I ever in my life have had such a experience with a company. Other people at the shop seem nice. However my instructor Rob was absolutely ridiculous. He was mad and yelling at us the whole entire time and has no patience to teach. It made the class MISERABLE and I honesty just felt anxious the whole time not because of diving but because of Rob. The lack of organization is IN SANE!!!! Can not believe this place. First of all, we were not told to bring certain paper work on the last day that we needed so over half the class had to go back to the shop. I got to my scuba dive on my vacation and when I was about to get on the boat, gear rented and everything, was told I was not signed off on things and could not go! When asking the instructor what I need to do again he literally said he doesn't have a reason it's just a feeling. So when it came down to the actual skills he didn't sign me off on one of them was a thing that we didn't even have to do, he just showed us because of corona restrictions!!!!!! Rob made every effort to make this a difficult experience. Over all, Dive Utah is incredibly unorganized Rob is the worst and made it miserable the whole time. read more

The staff showed us a disappointing lack of courtesy and professionalism. The discover scuba class was way too crowded, with no room to move. The instructor had no time or interest to help my partner who was struggling with his mask. I have dived for almost 20 years, and I have never seen such a poorly run operation as Dive Utah. read more
