Lots of better title companies to use. I had a settlement scheduled for a certain time days in advance, 30 mins prior settlement my client gets a call from the notary asking what time would he like to sign. So of course the settlement would not happen at the scheduled time (when everybody is sitting there waiting). I call Karlen at the office and her response is not her problem and I need to call the notary. Not the response I was looking for. They hired the person and they screwed up and I need to fix the problem. Totally unacceptable. Find a better title company. There's plenty out there. read more

Steve is always accessible and returns calls in a few minutes unless of course he picks up on the first call. Awful experience with this company. Used them when I bought my house in 2014. They told me, without me asking, that I was lucky to work with them because they were the best. Six years later I couldn't sell my property because there was a problem with the title (Yes, they had one job) which they should have caught. When I reach out to them, they were annoyed and didn't want to help me. It took almost two years to solve the problem, and I couldn't sell the property. There are plenty of decent and competent people in the area, stay away from them. read more

Wow. I recently used DT for two closings. I have never worked with a company this unprofessional in my entire life. Our attorney didn't even show up to closing and instead sent a notary, but didn't tell us he was doing that. Buyers and sellers waited a full 2 hours and trying to reach out was unresponsive. On top of that, they don't accept cashiers checks which is ridiculous. I took one out the morning of closing and had to put it back when they said they only take wires. With the amount of wire fraud out there this doesn't inspire confidence. They made errors in the documents twice. My agent thankfully noticed. Didn't get my security deposit for a rent back. Had to reach out directly to the president who fedexed a check. By contrast we worked with a moving company that was run by 18-20 year olds. They knew 1000% more about customer service than Dt. I can't stress this enough, use someone else. Look at other reviews here saying the same things. I used classic settlements on my first house in 2018 and they could not have been more pleasant to work with. read more

Fantastic experience. Steve was meticulous, proactively communicative, and extremely competent - exactly what you want in a title company. His team was responsive to email and messages and willing to walk me through answers to my questions. I closed on a house in Delaware during COVID, and even with all the challenges that represented, the process was smooth. Hard to get in touch with, numbers were inexplicably different at closing, paperwork contained errors (we were listed as joint tenants rather than tenants by the entirety). Afterwards, we found out that they'd missed a lien in their title search, which, even after being resolved, still came up in another title search later. It took several days to get routine paperwork from them for a refinance transaction, still waiting on documentation that the lien was resolved. read more

It was my first time working with them and to say that I'm happy is an understatement. The deal we were working on was somewhat challenging but Karlen never lost her composure, worked her process, constantly communicated with me throughout the entire time which is one of the main things I was surprised about. I'm used to having to "hunt down" title companies for certain pieces of information. Not with Karlen! Providing an update, as District Title has finally worked out our issues. Though it took lots of email, and some frustration on our end, District Title has since been working to resolve the issues and keep us happy/satisfied with the resolution of our problems. They did figure out the water bill, and mailed us a check for what we overpaid and took a good amount of time, personally, to work out the property taxes situation with DC government (no small task). The owner has also called a few times to ensure everything was resolved and has also apologized for the issues. Our Realtor ensured us that he has never had issues with District Title before, so maybe our issue was a single-case. Hope this updates helps! read more

Great team to work with at District Title and the owner Steve is intelligent and resourceful.

All around pleasant experience. Great location, schedule was worked around me, and Steve and his staff are very knowledgeable and responsive. The best part was that I always felt the buck stopped with me. I felt I was in control during the entire process... and was even provided a calculator at the table and was able to check over all figures on the HUD. Any questions I had were immediately answered to my satisfaction as we went through the paperwork. The whole environment was very comfortable, starting with bottled water and ending with a satisfied seller. I strongly recommend District Title and, if given the choice, hope to use them again... Absolutely TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! If there were negative stars, I would rate accordingly. DON'T TRUST YOUR BUSINESS HERE, ESPECIALLY FOR BUYING YOUR HOME. These people don't make you feel helped and at ease with your home purchasing transactions. My Closing Disclosure (CD) stayed in their queue for days and they corrected/updated numbers a few hours prior to the scheduled closing time. They provided really poor customer services prior to my closing scheduled appointment and pointed fingers to the lender instead of acknowledging the fact that they failed to send me the updated CD with all fees included a few days prior to the closing. I don't think that my closing process was handed a proper way. It seems like that there was a major discount between the title company and the lender. I needed to follow-up multiple times with them and the lender instead of being the other way around. read more

Absolute worst settlement service EVER! Only use District Title if performance, communications, and basic customer service are NOT important to you! Closing was delayed due to paperwork problems. Different office handles scanning etc and getting the deed recorded doesnt seem to be a priority..which isn't a problem if you aren't concerned about getting your sales proceeds anytime soon. read more
