But after interviewing me and taking meticulous notes on my wishes, she helped me understand that especially because I own a small business, a Will was not sufficient enough to honor my wishes. And this was no upsell. It was a lesson about how little power a Will has and how much it doesn't cover. And I think most lay people like me would be surprised too. It's not just about who you want your deceased grandmother's jewelry to go to. What would you do if you were still alive, but unable to make decisions for yourself?
