After wine tasting at the Royce we stopped next door to grab something to eat. The hostess told us they are no longer called District 78, I forgot the new name, and that they changed the menu. I went to district 78 last year and it was more of a steak house vibe. The new menu is basically bar food with a few entree options. I ordered the smash burger with cheese and it was cooked perfectly. It was juicy and full of flavor. There was only 1 slice of bacon ($3 upcharge) that I could have done without. The fries were crisp on the outside but soft and fluffy inside. One of my friends ordered the fish and chips (catfish) and she said it was good as well. I'm going to give the short version but believe me when I say this was the WORST dining experience ever! The new restaurant name is Social 78 8/26/26 for our ladies night we visited this 'restaurant' for dinner before the canceled Jill Scott concert. The service was TERRIBLE! The server Kinzi B could have cared less about being there. Her disposition screamed she was being bothered. Mind you it was early evening and the majority of tables were empty We were escorted to our table by Johnny ("manager"). He stated he would check back to see how we were doing (never happened). He actually went to Kinzi and acknowledged our table. She took her time to come to the table. Then it was another long wait for one drink that was 3 sips. Food orders were incomplete. My order of parmesan garlic wings that I had to ask only to be told at that time " they were out of the parmesan garlic (huh?) Ditched that order. The sweet potato fries were good Looked for Johnny prior to leaving and was told he was downstairs. Left restaurant my soul was irked, so I immediately called while still downtown. After 3 calls I finally spoke with Johnny. I explained the situation, he expressed concern and that the situation would be addressed. He asked that we give them another chance prior to writing a review, stressing the matter would be taken care of. Just talking a lot of hoopla about nothing as it turns out. Provided my number and stated he would be in touch. Today is 9/22/26 no call to date. I'm sure the matter was NOT addressed. If I could give a ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO review I would. Came here with a friend for my birthday before our event downtown. We ordered food and drinks and we only saw our server twice. Once was to take our order and second was when we had to flag her down for our bill. We were never checked on during any time in-between. The person who delivered our food was much nicer than the rest of the staff. The bartender was actually very rude. My shot was given in an extremely dirty cup, there was an old lip print still on the glass. I informed the person who brought out our food and he told the bartender the cup was dirty and she instantly got an attitude about him saying my cup was dirty. No apologies or nothing, just attitude about it. She even went to say the cup was not dirty, it's just not polished. Honey, I know the difference between water spots and a whole lip print still on the rim of the cup. I wouldn't care if it was just water spots but like I said it was a whole lip print still on the rim. She did not need to give attitude about it, all she had to do was get me a new drink. This was my first time here and I will never come back just from this experience alone, and yes I'm telling everyone I know about my experience because they need to know how their staff is. I didn't order attitude with my food and drinks so why give it. Plus they add automatic gratuity onto the bill that's why they give bad service because they know they are getting their tip anyways. Note this review was stuck in drafts: Initially I was not feeling this place at all. The water glasses were filthy, they looked cloudy like cups that have been there for years...but this place has only been open for a month or two. We let that go and proceeded to order after a wait of 20 minutes or so. They unfortunately were out of several items (no crab cakes, crabby Pattie's, calamari etc.) which the waitress said was due to the Mother's Day brunch they had earlier. I ordered the Pink Starbursts martini, my sister ordered a strawberry mojito, mom and aunt ordered Long Island and Moscow mule respectively. My drink was supposed to come with a freeze dried rim, as you see in the pics it is rimless with an actual starburst just plopped in the glass. We also ordered the martini tree/tower which is so cute and perfect for pictures. It came with four martinis of your choice . We had the pink starburst, lemon drop, strawberry lemon drop and French 75. French 75 stated it came with sparkling wine but the amount had to be minimal because there was no kind of bubbles or effervescence in the drink. We ordered a variety of appetizers, the fried chicken sliders, truffle fries and the fig bbq wings. Portions were small; the wings you only get 5 per order and the chicken sliders, two . I ordered the lamb chops for my entree and everybody else ordered the chicken Alfredo. We waited about 40 minutes for our appetizers and had to pause on my birthday drinks cuz my stomach was empty and no food in sight. This place has fine dining prices with none of the service, decor or accoutrements . The fig wings were huge but very good, the sauce was delicious. Truffle fries were hot crispy and tasty. I'm going to be honest the service was super slow here and we waited forever for our appetizers. They took so long that our entrees came out shortly after our apps. HOWEVER..the food was very much worth the wait. My lamb chops were flavorful and cooked perfectly. I was a little unsure about the description of the sauce that accompanied the lamb chops but it was delicious. My asparagus were enormous and cooked perfectly, I don't think I've ever had any that big (that's what she said) and they were seasoned to perfection. I will definitely be back! This was an impromptu stop for some food on a Sunday evening as many of the restaurants near by were closed and I was pleasantly pleased. Due to it being impromptu I was looking for cheap eats which this is not however I didn't mind spending the money as the food was very good. Our serve Jada was great and ensured everything came out to our liking also sent my original oyster back because of the presentation wasn't to her standard which I appreciated. My only complaint was the size of the oysters for price and how stacked they were the oyster its self was lost in all of the cheese. I would also love if they offered a fresh oyster versus Rockefeller. The wings were so good I didn't know what to expect and I am very particular about my wings but they surpassed any of my expectations! We also had a spicy chicken sandwich not pictured which was flavorful and packed a punch with spice. The garlic Aioli that comes with the fries added a nice sauce to aid in cooling of the mouth from the siracha mayo. This place is great weather it's a date night or a night out with the girls. The music and vibes are there however not to loud or crazy like some places in the city can be with similar vibes. I enjoyed not having to yell to talk but also being able to sing to the music that's being played and sip my drink. I was saddened to hear they were out of calamari, charred lamb ribs and scallops but that just means on my next visit home I have to go back and check those out now that I am prepared for the menu. The managers go around checking in on tables which is a great sign of customer service. They seem very organized, no chaos noted. The ambiance was beautiful. QR codes only, and what was listed for food was not avaliable. I got the surf and turf but the scallops listed were not an option. 10/10 I will be back again! At first I was skeptical about this place, but they redeemed themselves, and have earned a lifetime a customer in me LOL. I came there with a group of 11 people, and we called beforehand to reserve a table. On the phone, we were told to just walk in and we would be seated, because they do not reserve tables. Low and behold, that was not the case, like we assumed. But the crazy thing is, the staff then tried to act like we were crazy and couldn't have talked to anyone there. The food was amazing! I had the salmon burger, with broccolini on the side. Everything was cooked to perfection. Kisses to the chef. I also had a Long-Island Ice Tea and it got me just right LOL! The alcohol was alcohol-ing. So that was definitely a plus. Also, the vibes of the place was great. The DJ, at least the night we went, was consistently playing good songs. The mash potatoes were thick and flavorable, they definitely southern style mashed potatoes. Asparagus were also very well seasoned! My God Sister booked us to come here for her birthday, and this was my food. I asked for the Cajun rasta pasta this is how my food came to the table . When you look at the menu and on the website, this is not I repeat not the same thing. The noodles were soggy like they have been boiling in a pot for hours. The food was horrible. They tried to bamboozled me with my cocktail, made it a different bourbon, then what was on the menu, it says it's made with angels envy when the cocktail came to the table...I knew this was not the angels envy bourbon because I am a bourbon drinker. therefore, I took the cocktail back to the bar and the bartender Grabbed the bottle of Makers Mark to make the cocktail. I then decided to ask her sorry but the menu say that the cocktail is made with Angel's envy and she poured the bourbon back into the makers mark bottle and then proceeded to make the cocktail with angels envy. When the waitress notice that I was at the bar to get my drink remade, I was told that I couldn't get it done at the bar I did proceeded to informed the waitress that my cocktail was not made with the correct bourbon that was presented on the menu.
