Went twice during our stay in ELP during a wedding weekend while staying at the Hotel Paso Del Norte. I got the turkey bacon sandwich and my date got the everything bagel or HBE Toast (can't remember). I thought my sandwich was good and had a decent sized portion. Bread was still toasty and not soggy despite me not eating it until about 10-15 minutes after we got it since I had to take a call in the car. She's a vegetarian and enjoyed her order, said it had a lot of flavor. On the first day, I got a quad shot on ice with some soy milk while she got a chai latte. No complaints on our end. We got regular coffee the next day and shockingly good as well, not burnt like a lot of boutique coffee shops. read more

Stopped here on a road trip to Houston. Coffee & matcha are one thing the hubs & I always need if we're not making it at home so we always look for cute coffee shops on our trips. I not a big fan of super sweet drinks but I like some flavor so I had questions since they had so many yummy sounding selections. The cashier was nice & honest when I asked her questions about the differences between a few drinks. I was debating between the chagaccino latte or strawberry rose latte - she mentioned the strawberry rose was on the sweeter side & chagaccino would be healthier if I cared about that. Having a chagaccino before I got the strawberry rose matcha with 1 pump less than the usually do & it was absolutely yummy. Well worth the quick detour off I-10! We stopped in for coffee and a snack while we were driving through El Paso. We had house coffee, toast, and yogurt parfait. The coffee was a medium roast and quite good. The toasts were the highlight of our visit. We had the Apple and HBE. Both were more delicious than they sounded on the menu. Enjoyed my cafe latte and chicken salad here. All was good, place was decent, folks were friendly and the bathroom is clean. Nothing wrong. If I'm not in love it probably has more to do with El Paso than with this establishment. This is a perfectly fine artisanal coffee shop. But its not awesome or compelling. If this is the best that the city has got (and Yelp suggests that it may well be), that says more about the city not having a five-star spot; nothing against these nice folks. District coffee was across the street from our hotel in El Paso, so we went yesterday morning before heading out of town. We were still floating on air from our meal at Elemi the previous night, which could be why we so quickly soured about this place, but we were unimpressed and slightly befuddled at its high-star ranking. The guys working were really, really nice, so we do want to acknowledge the excellent customer service that we received. Iced coffees are basic, but fine. Otherwise, the food was not good at all. The two muffins we got--pistachio and chocolate chip--were really dry and seemed like they had been thawed. The "pistachio" was just almond extract and green food dye. The yogurt parfait had so much honey in it that the whole thing was cloying and overly sticky. The "seedy toast" was made with some supermarket bread with uninventive avo etc. on top. The food quality matched the decor: unoriginal and from a big box store. Maybe we needed to get some kind of specialty latte to see what makes this place so great, but we left still yawning. Obviously District Coffee might be the cat's meow for other folks. read more

Ambiance - Clean and cute on the inside. They made sure there was adequate spacing and were in compliance with COVID regulations. Beware that this is downtown, so parking might be a bit of a hassle. Service - You pay at the counter and pick-up your drink when they're done. Worker was very friendly and even put on gloves to get my credit card. Kudos to them for being extra cautious. Both times, I've ordered the avocado toast and was happy with the freshness and just the right amount of your not a big eater like me. My family ordered sandwiches, and they were happy as well. This spot is a cute little spot in the middle of El Paso. The inside is quaint with wooden furnishing, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I couldn't sit inside because of the pandemic, but definitely think it would have been a great spot to hang out and work at. As for the coffee, the barista serving me was quite knowledgeable in terms of coffee and coffee recommendations. This place is adorable! Makes me wish I was back in college just so I have more reasons to go and "study" there. It's modern but cozy and has a variety of drinks/food items. The coffee and lattes are so yummy. And they do have mylk upgrades. The turkey bacon sandwich was OmG to die for! The ingredients and chipotle aioli just makes it so tasty and different from what I've had before. I'm not from the area but if I could get it teleported monthly I would pay for that. Can't wait to be back in El Paso to have it again. Also the owner is a previous teacher from the area so I thought that was pretty cool. Very cute space that was decked out for the holidays with a tree and string lights when I popped in here for a quick caffeine pit stop around 9am on a weekday. The Baristas were super kind, especially for how early it was, and were also equally festive with Santa hats on. I ordered a 12oz hot latte with oat milk and it hit the spot -- kept me awake for the long drive back to Austin. The sweet smell of cinnamon filled the small space and made it feel very cozy. The honey lavender latte was good but the the HBE toast delicious. They give you the option of cream cheese or hummus, I choose hummus and with the eggs it tastes really good. I am a big matcha latte fan, and this place offers a coconut milk matcha latte! This is a first one for me, and it turned out to be really good! The staff is great and they are super helpful. Here is the breakdown Ambiance and decor Very relaxing place with very contemporary feel and look to it. Nice and comfortable seating option and perfect spot for working. Menu Standard items at the menu but well done and that's what matters at the end of the day. Originally born and raised in El Paso, but I've lived elsewhere since '09. Recently spent a weekend around downtown (at the new Aloft hotel right across the street) with family and friends. Loved being able to go just across the street to a cute little coffee shop for wonderful coffee every morning. If I can - I ALWAYS strive to give business to locally owned coffee joints. What I loved most was the option for a "Chemex" pour over. Experienced a "Chemex" pour over for the first time a few months ago in Austin; the difference it made in the taste BLEW. ME AWAY. I left that experience realizing I didn't know coffee could taste like that... So, of course, I drank pour overs at District Coffee. Yes - it takes some time, and it might be a tad more expensive than you're used to - but trust me it's worth every second and cent. Let's just say my experiences here helped confirm the decision to start my own pour overs at home! Everyone who waited on us was friendly and knowledgable about the pour overs and the tastes accentuated with each offered roast. I can see this place doing very well with all the people who work downtown. Oh, and if they have one - try one of their chile con queso scones! Only drawback - wish they had more comfortable seating options. read more
