Mike, Tommy and Paige were diligent and polite, and did excellent work. My standards are high and I like to exercise a decent degree of control over many aspects of projects, and they always accommodated our needs and requests. They were not only able to give me an accurate and reasonable estimate but they also were able to stick to it! They also gave my parents the best materials, craftsmanship, and overall quality and care that the basement needed. After having such amazing work done on the basement my parents brought Lev & Sons back to do the kitchen! WOW!! My parents old kitchen was dark and dreary. Michael and Dmitri were able to give my parents ideas on what would look good and how to maximize the space. They moved over a wall, put in stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, a HUGE window overlooking the backyard..... It looks incredible! My family couldn't not be any happier. My parents beam with joy every time, they walk into the basement and kitchen, and with good reason! They also do smaller jobs. At my house, they put in ceiling fans, high hat lighting, fixed holes in the wall and many other smaller jobs that overall made a huge difference in my homes appearance. I called Novalis to replace the EPDM on the roof of a house we were planning to buy. Things started…read morewell with the owner Jonathan being very helpful during our home buying process and providing an estimate for the work needed, which we used to negotiate a credit from the seller. Once the deal went through, we heard from multiple people that Novalis was the best, so despite their higher price we decided to go with them. We had a beam with some deflection and an old ceiling/roof made of 4" wood wool. The span between the beams was larger than normal since the house was built in the 50s. Jonathan did not see this as an issue. On the day his team was ready to start, Jonathan's father, John (who used to own the company) also showed up to supervise the project. He was uncomfortable starting the project after seeing the deflection in the beam and the span between them. He spoke with his son Jonathan who continued to say it was fine. John pulled me aside and told me I should pause the project until I had a structural engineer come out. I'm really thankful for John's honesty. After taking his advice, the plans for the project changed to include ripping off the entire roof, replacing the sagging beam, adding tongue-and-groove planks for decking, two layers of polyiso insulation, and a new layer of EPDM. John continued to supervise the project and was great to work with. He answered all of my questions and was patient in talking me through the process. The job was done quickly, and the end result looked great. Coming out of winter and into the rainy season, I cleared debris from the drains. Not long after, I heard water pouring off the corner of the roof and hitting the metal downspout. I went up to clear the debris again. This became a frequent routine, as I kept hearing water come over the roof corner. I called Jonathan to come out to discuss the drain, as well as a large wrinkle near the front of the roof that had apparently been there but was now more noticeable after debris had been continuously sitting without proper drainage. I showed him pictures of other flat roof drains being set lower into the roof to allow more water to drain and prevent them from getting clogged so quickly. Jonathan did not see a problem and said any fix to the drain would involve cutting into the membrane, which I should carefully consider. We discussed other alternatives and he said he would get back to me after discussing them with his team. A month went by without Jonathan reaching out. I called Novalis to speak with him and left a message with the front desk. A week went by without a return call. I then contacted the EPDM manufacturer, Johns Manville, and one of their specialists pointed me to a PDF showing a proper drain installation on a low-slope roof. The diagram showed, and the specialist confirmed, that the drain should have been set lower into the roof. I called Novalis two more times to discuss this and what a reasonable solution would be but they never returned my calls. I spoke with two other roofers and showed them pictures to get their opinion on how serious the issue was. They both agreed that the drain was not installed properly but also said that fixing it by cutting into the EPDM could potentially cause more problems. It's a shame that things ended this way since Novalis had my trust and confidence in the beginning. I had a lot of respect for Jonathan's father and even though he was supervising the project, mistakes happen. How you handle those mistakes really says a lot about your character. Jonathan and I could have worked this out. If he had simply stood by his work and offered an extended warranty, it would have gone a long way. Even now with our ten-year warranty, I have no idea if he would honor it. It's clear that whatever reputation Novalis had was built by his father, John.

Manny at Woodbridge was very easy to work with and considered my thoughts too. He drew up a beautiful kitchen plan for me. My room needed to be gutted since the whole set up of the kitchen was going to be changed and we needed new insulation, etc. It has made a big difference in the hot weather. Don, the project manager, was great to work with and also had some very good ideas. He kept the project moving along. You will get a realistic time line that they will stick to. The workers each had their specialty. There was one crew who did just wood working, another for tile, etc. I felt as if we were getting the best for each part of the construction and finish work. Speaking of finish work, Tom is the man for that. He came in at the end and installed appliances, put knobs on the cabinets, figured out how to install the tall pipe on my chimney style exhaust. The pipe needed to be extra long and to be cut on an angle for my slanted ceiling....perfection. I found their prices to be competitive too. No complaints from me. I would highly recommend Woodbridge Builders in Kenilworth. Linda and Gil Weeden Cranford, NJ

They quickly responded to this damsel in distress and did an amazing job replacing our double roof. The roof never gave us a problem in 30 years! When we decided to replace our roof, based on age alone, we were so pleased that Woodbridge Builders was still in business. Fortunately, the next generation, Bill Kaczynski Jr., maintained the professionalism, work ethic and expertise I was so pleased with back then. I can't sing the praises of Bill, the crew, workmanship, and amazing attitude of everyone enough. The work was done timely and professionally,. My neighbors were in awe watching the process. The crew had a great deal of respect for my property. The clean up was so good that if I didn't know better I would say that no one had been on the premises, of course except for the amazing roof, gutters, and leaders that were installed. They even used a magnet on the driveway to retrieve any loose nails. It's been a really good experience. I highly recommend Woodbridge Builders.

There were definitely times when we wanted to make some changes to what they had done, but they always made sure we were happy with the final result. I've heard a lot of horror stories lately about contractors not showing up or not delivering what they promised. So, I feel very fortunate that we found Frank and Sue because they were very reliable, fair and very concerned about customer satisfaction. Of course, I wish they could have worked faster at times but that was mainly due to material shortages which were totally out of their control. They and their team are warm and personable. I can't say enough good things about Slattery Contracting or Mike Slattery. Quite a few years ago,…read morefor reasons too complicated to get into here, I had to completely tear down and rebuild my house. I got several estimates, and Slattery Contracting's was the highest. Something in my gut told me to go with them anyway, and I thank my lucky stars that I made that decision. There are a bazillion reasons why I recommend this company, but here's a few highlights: 1. First and most important -- Mike Slattery is honest, trustworthy, and reliable. 2. Mike's crew does one job at a time. And they are so organized, they know before the build even starts what each day will entail. This means that before they start, they've lined up all the subcontractors -- electrical, plumbing, etc. Absolutely PRICELESS because it means there's never a "down day" when no work is happening. As a result, my house was demolished and rebuilt in a matter of less than three months! 3. The work done by Slattery Contracting is impeccable. I have quite a few friends who are in the construction business, as well as in other related fields (engineering, architecture, etc.) and every single one of them was beyond impressed with the quality of construction in my house. Additionally, during the build, even though nobody was living in my house, the place was spotlessly clean -- I would go poke around at night, and the raw, unbuilt house was broom swept, and everything was neatly put away. 4. When things go wrong, as they occasionally do, Mike makes it right, even at his own expense. 5. Eight years after my build, I had a very minor issue that was the result of the passage of time, not the result of anything that had been done incorrectly. Mike still came back and fixed the issue, even though it wasn't his responsibility. Who does that these days?? MIKE. 6. Mike's crew is clean, respectful, and dedicated to doing the best job possible. I've joked with Mike many times that I hired him primarily because he came to give me an estimate dressed neatly in a Slattery Contracting shirt (a couple of other builders showed up in torn jeans and dirty tee shirts), both looking and smelling clean. That's not why I hired him, of course, but it said a lot about who he is and how he conducts his business. 7. I was also impressed that Mike gave me a written estimate with a breakdown of every single aspect of the job, and the associated costs, both for materials and for labor. (One contractor I met with called me two weeks after he visited, and said, "Well, I guess I can do it for somewhere around $XXX,XXX." I mean, seriously? That's an estimate? Hell no. I want it in writing!) Anyway, I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. Yes, Slattery Contracting might come in slightly higher than other estimates. Yes, they are worth EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR. Mike made a completely horrible situation tolerable, and many years later, I still love my house -- a house that has no construction issues, a house that is safe and beautiful!

I contacted Michael to begin the process of designing and building a porch on our home. He came to look at the property, took a copy of our survey and said he would contact us with some estimates and bring back material samples. It has now been over three weeks. I have texted him, emailed him and called his office. No contact from him or his office in return. For a businessman to claim he is so reliable, and trustworthy, yet not want to respond to customers is false representation. It's really too bad. He seemed to have great vision and enthusiasm. Brand New Update -- shortly after posting my initial review, Michael contacted me with a better than expected proposal. We were a little gun shy but Michael convinced us the lack of communication was a reflection of his commitment to other projects, not how he does business. He event sweetened the porch proposal by throwing in the electrics to fans on the porch. We went with him and the experience could not have been better. He handled all of the permits and approvals.
