There was a man in a wheelchair behind me who I hadn't seen. I moved aside for him (and would have done so if the driver had asked politely as well, instead of barking orders at me). The man in the wheelchair actually apologized to me, but I told him it wasn't his fault the driver was rude. When I tried to board again, the driver put out his hand and said, "Wait!" again, very rudely. I told him he was a jerk, and he started lecturing me about politeness (like HE knows anything about it). At that point I lost my temper and told him I had not even seen the disabled man, and to chill the F*** out. Then I opted to wait for the next bus, so I wouldn't have to deal with his PMS, or whatever was wrong with him. I reported the incident to RTD and asked for a follow-up call, only to be told that the case had been "closed out". So I made a new complaint, and was told that RTD was "sorry for the inconvenience", but they couldn't say any more than that. I asked if I could now ride the JUMP without being verbally abused by nasty, self-important drivers, but they wouldn't answer because that would be giving out information about their employees. They are willing to protect abusive drivers, but not the passengers who keep them in business. Pretty disgusting.

This way you don't have to pay for parking or worry about finding parking in downtown Denver. There's signage telling you how to ride, the schedule for the different lines, and the ticket kiosk and the ticket validation machine next to the tracks.

I work on the Mall, and I can say I've had fewer people approach me for money or want to engage me in unhinged conversation around this area than other spots along 16th. Pretty heavy flow of trains until 11pm at night.

It's well-lit and sees plenty of regular foot traffic, but hopping a train to Auraria Campus or Englewood Station right from the convenience of Denver's most popular pedestrian mall can't be overstated. The Walgreens is probably pretty convenient, too, if you fancy making sure your flu shot is current before exposing yourself to public transportation and all its associated pathogens.
