My 21-month-old had a good time here today! I needed a place reasonably close by to take him on rainy days. Cost is $10 for one child for all day and the place seemed clean and bright. The place has a big, climbable fire truck that my son loved. The place has several different themed rooms (grocery store, beauty salon, vet clinic, fire station) with coordinating toys and dress-up clothing for pretend play. The woman at the front desk said more themed rooms were in the works, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they add. Plus, there is a big play house with two sets of stairs and a big twisty slide to get down. I did see a small area for younger babies that i think was labeled for toddlers, but there is no way a walking kiddo will want to stay put there when they see all the cool stuff there is to explore! Kids and adults keep their shoes on here, and I noticed two party rooms for birthday parties. They also have events from time to time. Tonight, for example, they are doing pumpkin decorating. Apparently there is also a preschool here, although I don't know anything about it. You will have to decide for yourself if the place is worth the cost. My son only makes it about an hour at any play place / playground before he tires out or melts down, and he enjoys Kids Cove up in Bellevue (which is free) just as much, but some days driving up to Bellevue in 405 traffic is a pain and I'd rather go somewhere closer by that doesn't involve a mall parking lot (esp as the Christmas shopping season draws near). Plus going to the same places over and over gets monotonous for me as a parent. Wish there were more options in Renton where I live, but I still feel this place is worth the 20-minute drive. Really cool little place. My kids have fun playing with all the imaginative toys but my kids also have fun playing with Tupperware. Cons: 1. I think it's too pricey for coming in with 3 kids. 2. I wasn't impressed with the staff or experiences my kids had during their summer camps. It wasn't as hands-on or educational as they made it seem. Essentially babysitting with a craft. read more

Adorable and very clean! I attended a birthday party here. The staff was very nice and helpful, and the play space was very cute. There were a lot of activities to engage in, and spots for adults to sit and watch if they didn't want to participate in playing hair salon, vet, camping, etc! The day pass is really reasonable and allows you to re-enter, so you could go for lunch, etc. If I had a kid and lived in the area, I would probably be here a lot! read more

I received an email from Discovery Playtown of some upcoming camps and signed my daughter up for the Voyagers Pre-K Camp: "Ooier & Gooier" as it was advertised that the kids would be making three different types of slime. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for my daughter to do something fun and meet new kids. I just picked her up and I'm regretting my decision to sign her up and leave her there for a few hours. I paid $45 for her to attend and the kids did not make slime during the camp. There was pee on the slide that did not get cleaned. The bathroom doors were locked and my daughter pooped her pants because she could not access the bathroom. None of the attending staff noticed and when she was picked up still had poop in her pants. My daughter has been fully potty trained for over a year so it is not a matter of her not being ready to be out of diapers. The false advertising and neglect that occurred here today makes me sick to my stomach. Just wanted to pass this experience on to anyone that is considering signing up for one of the advertised camps. read more

I went for the first time on Saturday. There were two people on staff and the younger was so incredibly nice and was all over the place straightening up and talking to guests. The older didn't interact or even move very much. Its very clean and has a LOT of fun niches and places to play. There are lots of little details that are amazing and thoughtful. The firemen outfits are legit with suspenders, hats and everything! The fire truck lights up! There are tons of stuffed animals to play with in the veterinarian office and there are posted bios of some animals. They have 2 party rooms where the guest of honor is made "Mayor" for the day. Its just so cute, clean and fun. We will definitely be back. read more

This place is so cool. A wonderful wintertime get-away where Dad can take the kiddo and they can play and play. So much cool stuff, run run and down the slide and then over to the fire truck and then back down the slide and whew, I'm tired just thinking about it. First of all I was not planning on having my kids completely forget about me as soon as we walked in, but that's ok. ;) It seemed simple to me, but we have been here for almost two hours & my kids have not lost interest or asked me for anything! It's great! Next time I'll bring something to work on. My usually shy kiddos are playing with the employees & talking to other people. & the bathroom is set up where my 2 & 3 year olds can go potty all by themselves! I was so thrilled to find out last December that a new indoor play area was opening so close to our new home. We usually drive to Bellevue, Seattle or Pullyaup for Wiggle Works or Play date. It's quite far, but during the rainy months there's not much other choice! This play place is new, so all of the toys and play area are really nice and clean still. The staff cleans up and puts away toys constantly, so the kids stay engaged with it for longer. I like that it's a little city. I was worried that my daughter would be bored with it since it's more role-playing than running wild, but ever since our first visit, she's asked to go every day. She's met new friends there and enjoys pretending. There are no power outlets in the parent-area, which is a bummer since it would be great to get some work done while the kids play. And their website email/contact form doesn't work. You can bring your own food and drink, which is great. We got the 3-mo membership for two kids, which is an excellent value since my daughter always wants to go! There's a little baby area that's nice for babies learning to crawl/walk. I agree with a previously poster, that an age limit should be enforced for this area though. An older child ripped a block from under my son causing him to hit his head on the wall. Then a much older boy ran in and stepped on his arm while he was trying to crawl. My son is fine, of course, but it made the space unsafe for him, even with me and the other parent right there! Looking forward to seeing how this place continues to grow. They have added preschool in the fall, which we may check out, but the inquiry form doesn't work!! read more

Updated review - we went this past week for the second time and it was terrible. First, there were way too many kids there. They really need to limit the number of kids they allow at one time. The place is small and there are only so many things for the kids to do. Second, there was a definite lack of supervision. My 3 year old was told by several kids that she is not allowed into several of the play structures and had toys taken away from her on many occasions. My 11 month old also had toys taken away from her, was knocked over several times and got stepped on (in what used to be the baby area). Third, the toys were in horrible condition. The stuffed animals were gross, most the the play food was broken and the dress-up clothes were torn. Our overall experience was terrible. My 3 year old, who I usually have to drag out of playplaces and parks asked to leave after about 20 minutes. I told the staff on my way out (a mere 20 miserable minutes after we arrived) that we were not happy with our visit and there were too many kids. They told us we could come back later in the day and it might be less busy. Needless to say we did not go back. read more

What a waste of my time. Drove out here from Fife and they are closed. It's 1pm and it says they are open until 4pm! Very disappointed!

This place is fantastic! I went with my PEPS group on a Saturday morning to celebrate our kiddos turning 2 and we all had the best time! This was the first time I've ever felt "relaxed" and an indoor playspace! The staff were all extremely friendly and available (which isn't always the case elsewhere). It wasn't crowded at all for the 2 hours we were there and our kids never got bored. It was only the pre-nap meltdown that made us leave when we did. While I wish it were closer to our house in Renton Highlands, it's definitely worth the drive. This is an indoor playspace created with a lot of thought and purpose. Way to go! read more

This place is perfect for little kids! It's small enough where parents don't have to worry about rushing to the next stations. Everything is fun and interactive. This place can definitely inspire kids' creativity. read more

It's amazing to see my toddlers mind engage in play. She has so much fun here. It's wonderful time for both of us! Here's the list of what we like: Realistic Main Street USA built for little kids. They really thought of everything from mailbox, BBQ, treehouse, fire pit and giant slide. They include dressup outfits which go along with the activity of interest. Veterinary costs, fireman outfits, beautician, cafe. Park bench for parents to watch, be close but not involved in child's experience. Toddler friendly snacks Potty training customized restroom with built in toddler seat and extra pull-ups & gloves if needed. Super friendly staff who really show interest in child development not just being a cashier Wifi, you get to wear your shoes, and it's a relaxing experience. My kids always exhausted! Had a party for my daughters 5th here and I couldnt have wished for more. The place is amazing and the staff was 100% wonderful! I believe the price was on point for all they do! I highly recommend Discovery Playtown for parties! read more

My daughter is a fan of this place. We've always had a good time whenever we visit. A little side note, some of the toys are looking a little old so they can probably replace them soon but overall, they keep this place is clean for the kiddos. I'd highly recommend. read more

We love this place! It's a great place for the kids to burn off energy when the weather outside isn't that great. It's designed like a little town where the kids can play imagination to no end. There is, also, a sitting area for the parents to watch the kids. So happy they're in town! read more

Discovery Playtown - Kid town - Preschools Near Me - Maple Valley, Washington

Too overpriced for what they offer. The place is small, it only entertains my 3 year old for maybe an hour at best before he's bored and wants to leave. I saw about six kids with snotty noses and coughing. It's a great place for your kid to get sick. The firehouse is wasted space as it's empty other then a few hats and jackets. It would be better to have these items on the wall outside the fire truck and use the space for something better. Maybe a mechanic shop with play tools? The bathrooms were gross. Water everywhere on the floor to the point it's a Hazzard and when I lifted the lid for my son to pee, dried urine was everywhere. We went twice while we were there and it was the same. They clearly need to clean them more frequently throughout the day. Unfortunately they raised the price again and when I mentioned it to the front staff suddenly the "owner" comes down the stairs and became quite defensive and agressive and says it costs 10,000 a month to rent the space. It was very rude and uncalled for. Not worth the money at all. I recommend going anywhere else but this place. We won't be visiting again. read more

Super excited to have a fun clean indoor place for our kids to play. It is a very well done play place. My two younger kids enjoyed playing there and we would come back. My only concern is security. Kids can easily get through the swinging door. Nobody checks if you are leaving with the correct kids. Our church and even Chuck E Cheese have far better security. Once that is addressed I would give this place a 5 star rating. read more

This place is unbelievable. So beautiful, clean and engaging. We brought a 22 month old and a 4.5 year old and both of them had a blast. There were so many creative details that made the little town so lifelike for the kids. They loved interacting with this world that was built for someone of their size where nothing was off limits. read more

This place was okay. We went during a weekday, and surprisingly it wasn't busy. My kids played here for about an hour before they got bored. For any child going up the stairs, please be careful. One kid ran up and tripped which cause him to bang his shin on the sharp edge of the stairs. Ouch! read more

CALL FIRST. Chances are they are only opened for drop-in preschool and not really opened for free play. Don't buy the punch card that saves you money unless you really know their hours. It is robbery unless you live close by. I live 35 minutes away and have had them closed for 2 different reasons. The small print on their website says they aren't really open for free play. read more

What a cool indoor spot! Its is a lot bigger than it looks for the outside. They have a mini town with a fire station and truck, salon, grocery store, veterinary, cafe, a house that attached to a tree house with a good size enclosed slide. Clean bathrooms that is well prepped for all ages (seat adjustments, step stools, and changing station). The staff is always helpful and friendly. They have reasonable prices that you can either do a membership with, punch card, or just pay daily. It is 10 dollars for all day play for one child, I do believe if you have more than one they have discounted rates. They do offer a membership program and a punch-card that are reasonable priced. I paid 40 bucks for a 5 day punch-card, it does not expire and you can use it for multiple children (one punch per child). When I do come I like to stay at least 2 hours or more, then I feel like I am getting my moneys worth:-) But you can stay as little or as long as you like. They do offer daily camp programs with different themes as well, it looks fun and I will have to give that a go very soon. You can host birthday parties there (they have 2 rooms) and they offer educational classes as well. Like most other play area's you do have to sign a waiver and I suggest jumping online and doing that a head of time that way when you get your kids will have more time to run out all their energy:-) lol My two-year old has a great time here and I do to:-) read more

When Discovery Playtown opened it had a lot of promise in an area that needs an open space play area. Over the last year, the quality of the experience and their reliability has declined dramatically. We were there one Sunday in February and waited for over 30 minutes after their posted opening but they failed to open. Last Saturday we gave them another try and same thing except the doors were UNLOCKED so one of the parents just walked in and turned on the lights. I know they are transitioning to a walk in daycare but there is NO WAY I would leave my child at this place. They can't reliably get employees to show and apparently the doors just unlock at certain times. To top it off, the way they remodeled to accommodate the transition to a daycare facility makes the space clunky and hard to use and they removed the separate area for eating/parents to sit. Worth the drive from Redmond! It took us 45 minutes and the boys (ages 4.5 and 7) had a blast! They loved the fire truck, salon, post office, restaurant, house, tree house, slide, tent, and campfire. Everything is so well done. It's a great place for dress up and pretending. Bathrooms are great, nice seating for parents, and even an area to eat. We'll be back! read more
