When I was looking for a boxing class to attend in the East Valley, I looked at all the suggestions on Yelp, Facebook groups, and even the social media accounts of the locations. When I look for a boxing class, I want to learn technique, get a solid workout, and have fun. I'm not looking for a cardio kickboxing class or an ultra-intense boxing class for high-level boxers. I enjoy the workout, and I enjoy the movements. If you're wondering if you would fit in with the boxing classes, I would say that there are all shapes, ages, and levels at the classes I've been to. I've done drills with high schools, people that are middle-aged, and even those older than me. Everyone is welcome at UKF, and the coaches make sure you work within your level. They wouldn't partner you up with someone much more advanced or vice-versa. I purchased a ten-session package after I did the free one-day trial, and it has been a great investment, IMO. I always finish drenched in sweat, and from what I've heard, some other guys that track their caloric output are pushing 700+ calories burned in a one-hour session. One of the cooler things that I've seen is the kid's classes. The few times I've gone in the evening, it's right after the kid's classes, and these kids ROCK! They have the footwork and pack a punch! Very awesome to see kids building confidence and having fun learning how to box!
