Got into disc golf recently and i have heard great things about Morley…read more Took a swing by the disc golf shop and was acting like a kid in a candy shop with a sweet tooth to fulfill I was in awe looking at the rows of amazing discs that the store had to offer I picked up a saint pro after my first round to compensate the lost of a driver ( thank you to the honor system it is back with me :) ). Have a good time with your friends here and don't be shy to yell FORE and CLEAR!!

You'd think being a rare course that costs money, it'd at least get the benefit of not being overly crowded, but I don't think I've ever played here without waiting for at least one group on each hole. That's on a good day. On average, you get to the next hole, there's a group starting to throw, with another group between them and you. There was one time where it was a 20 to 30 minute wait at each hole, and was only getting worse as we went, so we just quit around hole 8 or 9. Bummer SD has no great courses and this is the best around, if not busy.

We paid for parking right in front of the Spanish Art Village and paid $10 for 4 hours. Spanish Art Village was beautiful. If you buy something, it goes directly to the artist whose studio you're in. The artists were sitting quietly and would talk to you about their art pieces and tell you a little about themselves. Everything in there was so cool. I was especially intrigued by the artist in Studio 21, he had these incredible three part paintings he does by hand and I've never felt so much emotion before by an art piece. I really wish I had the money for them because I really would've taken them home with me ;( The botanical building was stunning, it wasn't as big as I thought it would be but definitely beautiful! We also ended up visiting the Timken Art museum and the PostSecrets and Cannibalism exhibits within the last 15 minutes of them being open. Wish we got there earlier so we didn't have to speed through them, but staff was still really nice and everything was so interesting to look at! We went to Panama 66 for a quick drink and bite afterward. We didn't even get to explore the rest of it because the entire park is so expansive, but we will definitely be coming back to visit the rest. It's definitely a must for tourists, but I just know I'd be here every day lying in the grass and reading if I lived here!

Spent about an hour in Balboa Park after landing in San Diego, and I'm glad we made the stop…read more We parked at the Lower Inspiration Point parking lot for free, and the shuttle arrived within 5 minutes to take us to the main entrance. Our driver was nice enough to give us a short tour on the way, which was a nice touch. We ended up seeing the Botanical Building and lily pond area, and both were lovely and picturesque. I honestly felt like I was in Europe with the architecture of the buildings. Next, we made our way to the Spanish Village Art Center, and it felt like I had stepped into a movie set, very surreal and colorful. I would highly recommend Balboa Park for any first-time visitors to San Diego!

More adventurous, there are dozens of other trails of varying degrees of difficulty in the canyon. Best place to park (free) is across Park Blvd at the San Diego Zoo.

Hmmm, a whole week of drinking beer at craft breweries all over San Diego County? Oh Hell yeah! While in town, I spent almost as much time trying to explore all the great outdoor places SD has to offer as I did exploring the beer scene. Almost (priorities). After reading reviews from a few Yelp Elite friends, I became interested in checking out Florida Canyon. I rolled out here on a warm Thursday morning. Having really gotten into trail running this year, Florida Canyon seemed right up my alley. It's a compact area with a good number of trails that zig & zag up & down both sides above Florida Dr. Though I only ran 2 miles, I still worked up a serious sweat. It was the heat. It got a lot warmer here than places I usually run up in NorCal. By degree of incline, the trails are moderately challenging. The trail surface itself is mostly smooth. No need for hardcore trail running shoes, street running shoes will do fine. After my quick run, I rehydrated with as much water as I had with me, which wasn't enough. It was obviously time to supplement my fluids with beer...

This is an extensive sports complex in the northeast section of Balboa Park, east of Park Blvd…read more  There are facilities for baseball and softball, bocce, tennis, track and field, basketball, cycling, tennis, archery, swimming ... and golf.  Actually, there are three public golf courses: an 18-hole golf course, 9-hole executive course, and a disc golf course.  My first introduction to Morley Field was when my brother-in-law challenged me to a round of "Frisbee golf" here over 30 years ago.  Other than a few rounds of golf on the Balboa Park Golf course -- and some more Frisbee golf -- I've rarely used the Morley Field Complex.
