After leaving my review he (Christian McCoy) called me and asked me to remove my review and after I told him I wouldn't be removing it he cussed me and told me to go F*ck myself several times. I will say the staff at the Ottawa location were great with my baby but he did get an infestation of mites and is currently on 3 meds for it. The only place hes ever been is home and at the gold leash. He stayed there 3 nights and about 2 1/2 weeks later his symptoms started. I will never take my dog back to this facility.

Full disclosure, our pet did not stay at Starved Rock Pet Resort. We planned to and the folks…read morerunning it were kind and accommodating to a fault. We were very excited to have our labradoodle stay here. The issue was that kennel consisted of a series of outdoor / indoor cages with their bull mastiffs in parallel chain linked cages. As we pulled up, the dogs were barking and biting at each other though the fences. This might be totally fine if your dog mostly lives outside and is used to being around large barking dogs. This is not the case with our coddled, living room dwelling labradoodle. The reason I gave three stars is that there was no was for us to know this before we pulled up.

I am currently serving in the Army, and for the last three consecutive reunions, training, deployments, or other responsibilities have kept me from seeing my extended family. My fiancée and I have two young puppies, and we wanted to make sure that they were boarded in a comfortable facility close to the reunion. A quick Google search showed me that the Paws Here pet resort in Oglesby fit the bill. The problem was that they closed at six PM even though it was located at a private residence. My chain of command promised that we would be released at noon on Friday, giving me ample time to get there, but nonetheless, I called to verify that we could drop our dogs off later if necessary. Long story short, one of my Soldiers was having a pay issue, and I was forced to stay at work later than expected so that he and his family could pay their bills that weekend. Once we were on the road, we called Paws Here to let them know that we would be coming in late, and the underlying circumstances therein. Their tone was markedly different. They got back to us an hour later to tell us that we would have to wait till 0830 the next day to drop off our dogs, thereby throwing a huge wrench into our plans. We were debating between sleeping in shifts with the dogs in the parking lot, driving to a relative's house 40 minutes north of the park, or finding a different hotel that allowed pets when my uncle located the Starved Rock Pet Resort. We called them and let them know about our situation. We received clear, concise directions to their facility, and dropped our dogs off around 930 PM. The owners were very kind, and asked numerous questions about our dogs' individual behavioral quirks. Their facility was very clean and well maintained, and we felt very comfortable leaving our dogs there. The owner called us twice the next day to let us know that our dogs were settling in nicely. When we picked them up on Sunday morning, our dogs were relaxed and happy. Overall, it was a great experience for both us and our dogs. Other relatives of mine are now considering boarding their dogs here rather than leaving them at home. Guess which of the two pet boarding facilities they will be using?

I called and left a message for them, and they called back the next day to book. I was a bit hesitant to book when the girl said that they don't allow the pet's owner to remain in the room while the cat is being groomed. I am used to staying by my cat's side so he remains calm. But if that is what the business wants then I was fine to oblige. The establishment wanted me to drop him off between 8-8:30 am. When dropping off, I asked for the groomer to give him a lion cut, with a little puff of fur to remain on the end of his tail, and to shave the fur on his body fairly close to his skin. He is a Maine Coon and he had a lot of fur to trim, so the cut was $65. This seems like a fair price to me for the area and I was happy to pay this. The two young girls who were checking in the pets were very friendly. I observed that it was a nice and clean work area. One of the girls carefully placed my cat's carrier (with him still inside it of course) on a bench. It was fairly quiet in there at the moment, just one tiny barking dog in the background. They called me a little after 10am to pick him up. The girl who called me let me know that they only accept cash or check. I appreciated the heads up before I got there, as I was planning to pay with a card. Super easy picking him up. The only thing I should have done was inspect his haircut before taking him home. I am used to being there the entire time of a grooming and my previous experiences the groomers usually ask if the cut is OK before I pay. I wasn't asked to inspect him first, and I did not look at his haircut as he was already in his carrier. When I got him home, I was surprised to see a huge puff of fur left on the end of his tail that was about 4 inches in length. I did ask them to leave a little puff of fur like a poodle but I was expecting it to be a small inch-long piece. It just looked sort of funny but it is not a dealbreaker. The one thing that was slightly disappointing was the fur on his paws was not trimmed that much. All I can assume was perhaps the cat was not having it any longer and maybe the groomer had to end the haircut there. The groomer did not mention this to me when I picked him up, she only said that he was fairly well behaved. Overall, it was a good haircut, everything appeared to be evenly and smoothly shaved on his body. He also smelled nice and clean so I assume they used a cat wipe to clean off the excess hair. He was not very upset when I got him home other than the normal crankiness after a grooming haha! I am sure they handled him just fine, otherwise the cat's behavior would have been much different.
