I was a former employee and I went to get air today and a few of the employees were making fun of me and just didn't feel welcomed at all there. no one was trying to help me, they seen me pull in to get air. Discount tire in hickory NC has went to the dogs! Absolutely awful they knowingly install -6mm offset rims knowing the OEM rims are +31mm then when they done guy gets out i said there still rubbing & guy says yeah well we can cut your fenders uh no no you won't so in disgust I leave after replacing these rims that was on it before for supposedly better rims now that fit better? Wrong they fit Way worse rub way worse & I have already had to repack cv axel because of discount tire negligence! Now I call today & they have renigged on peurchasing the rims back like was told I could do if I wasn't satisfied. They tell you anything to get the sell & Slap oN your vehicle & then your on your own. No customer service or any accountability ever. Nothing but young guys that cclearly don't know they ass from a hole in the ground! & When you call voicing your concern they tell you sorry not sorry tough luck go F yourself sir! Steer clear of this shotty inconsiderate Scam artist establishment & I've been going to discount tire for well over a decade & used them for my beamer & my sante fe but they are no longer not even a smidge like the company of old! Visited 2/23/24. Got 4 new tires installed, and a new rear wiper. Appointment was for 4pm, and I was out of the door by about 4:45. Very happy with the time & quality of service. They also cleaned my wheels which was unexpected but nice! I've had great experiences at every Discount tire I've ever visited! read more

DON'T PATRON IT IF YOU VALUE YOUR CAR. I was a return customer, had no issues my first visit years back. This time my hubcap had a chunk taken out of it, admittedly damage that appeared to come from a socket wrench according to Danny Escobar (whom I assume is a shift manager) and a huge scratch over my wheel well that was not there when I brought it in. He looked me in my eyes and told me he'd "made it his mission to make it right" and would file the claim under their insurance, then when I left he turned around and filed it "disputed" saying they didn't do the damage. So he lied to me and wasted my time after they damaged my car, then lied to the insurance company - fleet response, who helped with nothing. Thanks Danny! Stand up guy. I get it's hard to find good help but there are a bunch of incompetent careless kids running that garage. It was a simple tire change and they did NOTICEABLE damage. The level of dishonesty is ridiculous. I hope if you're considering one of these "fast tire change" places you'll reconsider. Otherwise, You'll be left to fix the damages they make to your car. Find another tire source. There are way too many options to go here. I generally shop for tires locally, but Discount Tires had what I was looking for and a good price. So first I go in on Thursday and make an appointment for Friday morning at 8:00 AM. I am about to pull in and they call me and said the tires I needed did not come in on the truck. They were apologetic. So I have to go Back Saturday morning. I go in Sat morning and they say about an hour and a half. Two hours later the have still not started working on the car. I ask about it and they said appointments take priority.... If time and customer service are important to you find another option. read more

Almost a year ago, I got our tractor in a awkward position that apparently broke the seal on the tire. Did not know that at the time and thought I just had a flat. Took it in to these fellows and they looked at it and fixed it for free while I waited. That was pretty impressive customer service. This morning, I took in a tire from my new zero turn lawnmower, that had a piece a wire sticking out of it and, again, They fixed it within five minutes, while I waited, and at no charge. Will never buy tires from any other place. I thought that kind of customer service died in this country long ago but was thrilled to see it still alive and well at Discount Tire in Hickory. read more

This is the ONLY place I will get my tires! They are very accommodating and did not turn me away even though I came in at 5:30 pm needing four tires. They have a mini fridge stocked with bottled water and coffee for customers. They still accepted customers walking in at closing time. All of the staff were "Johnny on the spot" and not one was just standing around. Definitely recommend them! read more

Needed new tires for my Jeep Wrangler. Called the store to see about ordering them and if they could price match. Yes to both! The day before my appointment I called to make sure they arrived I was informed that only three showed up at that point I was worried. Shawn assured me they would get me taken care of. The day of my appointment I arrived and found out the other still was not there. They instead offered to put me in a better tire for the same price! Install went smoothly. This is a very busy store and having worked in the automotive field I was expecting about an hour for install and had no issue with a small delay- they are working on my car I would much rather them be delayed and do it properly than something go wrong. They took care of my mom and I with no issues. Highly recommended. read more

I had my first experience with them today. I went on-line, purchased the tires I wanted and made an appointment. We arrived about 10 minutes early and checked in. The customer service associate was friendly and efficient. He said it should take about 30 minutes to install my tires. My car was immediately taken to a bay and the work began. Due to the clear glass, between the service area and the installation area, I was able to watch as the techs worked. These guys hustled! There was no laid back, take your time, the work will get done when its done. Nope. These guys were fast and efficient. I didn't time how long it took, but I would guess it was very close to the 30 minutes I was told to expect. The wonderful customer service was great, but I also want to give a huge 5 star review to the techs who did such a great job. I feel they do not often get the credit they deserve. I will definitely go back for my next set of tires. read more

After I read many reviews for various tire retailers and then did a price comparison, Discount Tire ended up being the clear leader. I was able to make an appointment on line and when I came in I had prompt, professional service. Tire balancing and wheel alignment are free services when you purchase tires from them. The purchase also includes a free lifetime tire rotation service. I love that they are a chain and if I had a tire issue away from home I may have access to another store close by. If I don't have access to another Discount Tire Center and have to pay out of pocket for a replacement tire all I need to do is turn in my receipt and they will completely reimbursement. I definitely feel good about purchasing my new tires from them. read more

I evacuated my wife, son, dog and two horses to hickory for hurricane Florence. When I fueled my truck getting ready for the return trip to home, I noticed a nail in my tire. I came to discount tire because of the reviews on Yelp, they did not disappoint. They got my tire patched and me back on my way home. They knew they would not get any return service from me due to me not living in the area, but they still gave me excellent service. If I lived in this area, Discount Tire would be the only shop I would go to for my tire needs. read more

So I work for discount tire and I've been with the company for a while now so I know how things work. I took my grandpa's Jeep to get a rotation and balance just thinking it would be a normal service I've gotten several times while out of town. And especially because I work there I've always expected great service because that's what I give. Well let me tell you that this store got EVERYTHING wrong. I'd never hate on a store unless something was really off and I think them almost dropping my grandpa's Jeep on the cement shop floor counts. The tech didn't block up the Jeep right so it started leaning when he took the tires off it completely started falling! I had to run out there hollering at them to put the wheels back on, torque them on and get my Jeep out of there while holding it up so it didn't hit the ground! The funny thing is everyone just acted like nothing had happened! The disrespect from my own company colleagues was outrageous. I called back later to talk to a manager but all I got was the same full timer who said it got taken care of. Yeah no. If management reads my review feel free to call me so we can discuss the issue I'd love to handle it more appropriately since they felt it was no big deal that the car was 2 inches from slamming hood forward into the ground. read more

I just left from my third visit to Discount Tire and each and every time has been a splendid experience. This visit, I heard a squeaking noise that started all of a sudden going down the road coming from my front left tire. Wasn't at all sure what the issue could be and said 'well, discount tire always did me right on my old car, let me swing in there and just ask them'. Turned out my lug nuts were extremely loose and I was missing two on a back tire on this car I just bought 2 weeks ago (but that's for another review). I pulled in and one of the gentlemen stepped out to take a look with us, they pulled the car in to lift it and take a look and discovered the issue. I was in and out in about 15 or so minutes and wasn't charged but peanuts for fixing it. After this experience and especially considering my first two (which consisted of first time buying tires and then replacing the tires, also for peanuts, when we hit a nail) I will never take my tire business anywhere else! went in for an oil change, had a signal light not working ask them to check it out, they replaced the bulb and I drove a cpl miles and the signal light quit working, went back and told him it had quit, he wouldn't even look at it said it must be wiring harness, drove to another station and the bulb had blown. they replaced bulb and have driven car for weeks with no problem. if alray would of fixed proper I would still be a customer read more

I was not satisfied. The person quoted me an hour and 15 minutes to change two tires. At the point that an hour and a half had gone by I had to request for a refund and leave WITHOUT my tires changed because I had somewhere to be. Not to mention they had not even pulled my car into one of the bays to even begin working on it.. but yet they had already gone ahead and taken my money. Meanwhile at least two or three customers that arrived after I did were taken care of before me. I will never visit this location again. Period. read more

They gave me all my possible options and even though we were told from another tire center that they couldn't fix the nail in our tire, the guys at discount did the double-checking to ensure it was true. I have bought all my tires at Discount Tires for several years for two different vehicles. At this time I am not well and cannot wait an hour for services on my tires. I went to get tires rotated and told I would have an hour and half wait, which I told I could not do, so they told me to make an appointment for that afternoon. I went there that afternoon, I waited 45 minutes and watched them take two walk ins before me. They said they had waited over an hour. I took my keys and left because I could not wait. I went back made another appointment and ask would they uphold my appointment time because I was not able to wait for a long period of time that I got too tired to last. They said they would take care of me, to come in at 4:00. I went at 3:45. A lady and I walked in at same time, I let her in front because I thought I had appointment and just had to give keys. At 4:06 they take her car back. At 4:30 I ask for my keys and told them this was the second time they had done this to me and I physically could not wait any longer. The guy came out to the car and said appointment times were for within 45 minutes and I was next in line. I told him I could not physically wait, that they told me I would be taken care of this time. I did not know appointments were not kept and you had 45 minutes after appointment time was their policy. Not good service, and appointment times do not matter. read more
