We are a family of 5 on a trip from Houston to the Grand Canyon in an RV... We popped a tire just a few minutes before 5pm (closing time) on a Saturday, about 24 minutes outside Amarillo. We called this Discount Tire (the nearest one to us at the time) and an absolute angel named Jayson answered the phone. He said he would stay at work late to help us out so we didn't have to camp on the side of the road for the night. When we arrived, he was there with his boss. Both men were so kind and helpful, I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about this place. Luckily, the tire had the protection warranty on it and the new tire was in stock and fully covered. We were on our way in no time. What could've been a disaster for our trip, turned out to be an experience that renewed our faith in humanity and good old-fashioned customer service. My wife and I are traveling cross country when our left rear tire developed a slow leak. I kept filling the tire with air to make sure it didn't get too low,but I knew something was wrong. Coming into Amarillo, we decided to stop here to get it checked out. Glad we did because the tire mechanic found a big screw sticking out of the tread. They pulled it out and patched the tire. Now we should be good as new. When I was presented with the receipt for their work, there was no charge. I was dumbfounded! I expected to have to pay something, but they said it is their policy. I was very impressed with this location. I bought 4 new tires just a few months ago in Colorado, and on my way home through Amarillo I was able to avoid an accident but clipped a curb with my front tire. Instant flat, sidewall damage, tire needed to be replaced. Luckily I had purchased the warranty on the tires. I went to this location in Amarillo for help. I arrived at 8 AM, and they were very professional. They replaced the tire at no cost, and by 8:45 AM I was back on my way to Colorado. Excellent service, highly recommend. read more

Long waiting time. When paid for a rotation and balance, they just rotated them and after I told them that they didn't balance them they didn't do all but one tire. I talked to the supervisor and he said it was the end of the day and they tend to do that a lot. Horrible service. read more

When I broke down with a tire that separated because of the size of the tire (325/65R18) they would not help. The lady on the phone told me we only get shipments once a week. I asked her if they got 'hot shots' that could get a tire of a certain size she said we do but we will only get it once a week she had no interest in trying to help me at all and I am moving across country with a deadline for my new job. Discount tire will never get my business or any of my friends or families if it's in my power to do so. It just goes to show you the big companies don't care. The day after I got my rental car the "check tire pressure" light started coming on but I was so busy with memorial service and family activities I just did not have time to go anywhere to have the tire checked or even back to the airport where I rented it. Plus it was the weekend. I memorized where the Discount Tire store was so I could stop by here Monday morning and have the tires checked out. The guy said two of them were actually on the high side but the front left was down to 22 pounds so he filled it back up. He told me to keep an eye on it in case it had a slow leak. I have used Discount Tires in so many different towns across the United States and rarely had a bad experience that I can recall. It's sure nice to have a place like this that you know you can count on when you are traveling alone. They never charge to just check your tires or fill them or even to repair a small leak whether you bought the tires at their store or not. That has come in handy many times over the years. They fixed it and charged us nothing. We have bought tires from Discount Tire but this was not one of those tires and I told them that. Great customer service. We are replacing all six this summer. I usually do not write reviews but I was so moved and impressed by this business, this particular store, that I had to take the time. I was helping my daughter move across country from Los Angeles to Atlanta Georgia and we had a low tire pressure warning on her special edition Range Rover. We were approaching Amarillo and I searched for a shop that could help us. The first shop I called told us they would call us back in 10 minutes but never did. While I was waiting for that return call I called discount tire to which they said bring it in they can help. I was met by Anthony Cervantes when we arrived and he was extremely professional and helpful. They inspected the tire and found that there was a crack all the way around the side wall and it had also been plugged poorly so it had two problems and needed to be replaced. They did not have the tire on site because it was a special low profile tire but they were able to get it from another location in town in about 20 minutes. In the time we were waiting I watched the guys in the shop and I tell you they looked like a NASCAR pit crew!! It was like watching Formula One team dealing with customers cars with the utmost efficiency...These guys were hustling between cars and jacks were just humming from car to car... No slow moving listless employees w attitudes, these guys were enthusiastic and killing it!! I almost wanted to video it to remember how cool it looked. Shops don't operate like that where I'm from! We were fixed up and ready to go in less than an hour I would say and I just want to give my highest praise and recommendation to this particular discount tire location. I was passing through Amarillo when I sustained a flat tire. I realized it when I woke up early and tried to hit the road by 5:30am to make it to Flagstaff before dark. Unfortunately, I had a flat. After being towed to Discount at 6:30am, I sat in the parking lot until they opened. They quickly fixed my flat and had me on the road by 9am. The staff was very nice, professional and quick. My daughter and her friend were driving to Boulder and as they were nearing Amarillo the tire pressure light came on. I've have used Discount for all of my cars for years so I told them to pull into any one of three that were off of highway 40. They phoned this store, the rep told them to come on by and he'd take a look. He met them in the parking lot, pulled the car into a bay and checked all five tires - all were okay. He explained to them why he believed the light came on - tires will heat up early in a road trip which will sometimes cause the light to come on.
