For McKeesport, this diner is a hidden gem. For starters, the restroom is clean which is a great sign that they care about cleanliness. You can also see into the kitchen. Inside are red & white checkerboard table's and a hometown diner feel. The turkey club was delicious! Instead of being made with cheap deli sliced meat, it tasted like a home roasted breast that was then sliced. Generous amount of turkey. Fries were tasty. Service was fast. read more

Good experience overall. Since this was my first visit, I am unable to provide an in depth review. Based on this meal, service was quick, and friendly. In fact, since this is a staple in the neighborhood one can truly catch onto the small town, warm, friendly atmosphere. Definitely a comfortable gathering place for community connections. Food is outrageously expensive, 2 cheese burgers and 2 onion rings 2 ice tea for $43.75 at a local joint, really. The food wasn't all that good, that's what really took me over the top. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The menu reads Cheeseburger $7.50, how do you get to $43.75? You pay for tomato, lettuce and onion and probably got hit for mayo too! First time here - nice size location and great parking. I had gotten a latte on the way - but outside drinks are not allowed (just FYI). At first I was thinking that was going to set the tone but boy was I wrong. Prices extremely reasonable and portions are huge!! I got their special / strawberry French toast bake. Goodness gracious it was amazing. I hear they make different flavors every week. I'll be back to try more!!! Service was very, very good. Very sweet - called me "honey". Just cute. Very casual place. I was just with my friend had breakfast.. our waitress was super nice. And our food was "OK." Not great. But there were 2 older gentleman sitting next too us asking this rude waitress about what he had ordered. Instead of just being the person in the wrong. The waitress began to argue and made the ol man upset... (not nice). I just said. Wonder why they are not busy anymore.. this waitress says something across the room with a loud voice.. making us feel right at home. (Sarcasm) The older gents said. This will be our last time. We visited Di's with a larger group for brunch, and I was quite disappointed in the experience. This brunch was planned in advance, so there was fair warning for our group. We were seated in the back room which was semi-private and appropriate for us. There was some confusion as to if our group could order from the menu vs just get the buffet (communications prior gave varying answers), but it wound up just being buffet to make life easier (totally understand). Shortly after we sat, our waitress took our drink orders, but we were never given water (thought that was fairly standard?). A few of us requested water throughout the meal, though. She brought around our coffee, with one of the mugs having significant drippage as it arrived (and no cleanup). I requested milk instead of cream for my coffee, which was eventually brought over (after a second ask), but this also had a lot of drippage that soiled our table. No big deal, we cleaned both situations up. She seemed quite stressed, but our waitress was around for coffee refills when needed. For the buffet ... it was disappointing. The offerings were pretty standard - scrambled eggs (one plain, one with ham), hashbrowns, home fries, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and french toast. The one addition that was unique was the biscuits and gravy, which were easily the highlight of the fare. The biscuits were flaky and buttery and tasted homemade, and the gravy was flavorful, although probably could have included more meat for balance. I also tried the scrambled eggs which had very little flavor and were cold. Disappointing! I was also disappointed in the lack of healthier options - no offering of fruit or vegetables to round out the meal. I heard similar thoughts for the other buffet options from other guests, wishing for more variety and quality. I will say that Di's is a good price, but I would next time opt to order from the menu. read more

Breakfast. The most important meal of the day. Sometimes places lose grasp on that concept. I think Di's is hanging on by a thread. The Gang has been here twice in the past, and both times the food has just been...meh. Nothing spectacular. No "holy cats, that's awesome" or anything to blow me away. The service, however, has been short of expectations both times. Waitresses are more worried about their food at the computer and less worried about bringing people their food and creamer for their coffee. Di's does have a breakfast buffet, and that's kind of cool. I can't speak to its contents or it's quality, but considering Eat n Park is really the only place around that has that down, it's nice to see another business trying their hand. Well the food is pretty good but I will *NEVER* eat here again. The prices are OBSCENE. Just paid 50$ for two burgers and a kids pancake. They charged 1$ for a leaf of lettuce. 1$ for a tomato slice. $3.75 for 3 oz of gravy. 5$ for a small handful of fries. NEVER in my life paid 5$ to add a couple fries to a burger. Not even a lot. Like a McDonald's medium size. $2.75 for coffee, 3 for a glass of coke. I'm beside myself right now. Furious. I've eaten here many times and never ever ever had a check like this. They have literally started charging for everything. Be careful because they might be charging you to breathe their air the next time you go in. FURIOUS. read more

My husband and I decided to go out to lunch and we wanted somewhere new to go. We started looking up diners. That's when we found Di's. Their soups are amazing! All of their food will have you coming back for more. Great homemade dishes and reasonable prices. And I can't forget about the staff! Friendly and helpful. You will not be disappointed! We eat breakfast here at least 3 times a month. Food is always prepared well. Restaurant is clean, bathroom is spotless. Di is friendly and speaks to everyone. You can see she is invested in her business. Always enough wait staff. Coffee refills are always offered not only by your waitress but anyone passing. This place doesn't enforce masks for patrons or employees. Occupancy was not limited and everyone was crammed together. Just ate here for breakfast. They have a buffet setup, which is nice. They also had plenty of staff for a busy Saturday morning. Therefore, the service was great. However my food was fair. The bacon was soft and chewy and the French toast could have used a little longer on the griddle. The bathrooms are extremely clean, which is always a bonus. read more

HORRIBLE place. HORRIBLE staff. They served my son sour tea. When I said something the server got an attitude. They did NOT get my order right, over charged me and the place was dirty!!!!!!! Our server was not nice she acted like she hated the world! After I left, I called to make a complaint. The manager got on the phone and her attitude was even worse than the servers. I would not recommend this establishment. We waited for our food for upwards of 45 minutes, and waited another 10 minutes just to get our check. The service was very poor. Each member of our party was served their food at different times, forcing half of our table to wait for everyone to be served, letting their food become cold. In addition to this, my order was incorrect, and another party member was served cold home fries. Given that everyone had only ordered breakfast, a 45 minute wait is uncalled for. Finally, our waitress never apologized for the delay, and was too busy on her cell phone to promptly give us our check after our food was finally served. I will not return. read more

In the area for a meeting that I showed up to early I decided to wait it out and get some breakfast. I did a quick yelp search and discovered that Di's Korner stone diner wasn't far away and boy did it cover what I needed. Walking in everyone seemed pretty chipper for the early morning happenings. They weren't busy yet and it seems to be a seat yourself kinda place which I personally enjoy so I did just that. I was created by Vicky and she quickly explained the specials and how they have a brunch buffet. I chose to search the menu ( which the full menu was available) and went with a simple breakfast platter of sausage gravy and biscuits, eggs, and home fries and I'm always intrigued by soups so I got a cup of their hot sausage special. The soup was a bit greasy and I think the cook accidentally added croutons and cheese to it thinking it was their French onion (not a big fan of soggy bread) but it was plenty hot and enjoyable other than that. Eggs were prepared nice, biscuits (I don't believe home made) were nice with the gravy and the home fries were nice and crisp. Very filling meal for under $12. Miss Vicky told me about their car cruise ins and they sound like a fun time! Would definitely return for some more lunch appropriate items and try them out as well. My only complaint at all would be that the cook in the open window kitchen kept playing with his hat and hair with his gloves on and didn't change them before doing something else. Heavy set fella and I'm sure like most kitchens it's hot. Coming from a culinary background, that kind of stuff gets to me a bit tho. . Since moving to the area, my boyfriend and I have made Di's Diner a regular stop, especially on Sundays after church. Generally speaking, it had always been a comfortable place to go and get decent food and service... until recently. The last two visits were very disappointing and unfortunately we will not return after our experience this last time. Most of the waitresses have become familiar with us and we've never been complainers and always tip a minimum of 20%. I order the same omelet each time. These past two visits that omelet was made wrong. The first time, the owner, Di, had it made over again with little opposition. However, this last time, the attitude she displayed to us was unacceptable. I was about 2 bites in and realized that the mushrooms were completely raw and hard. Strike one. I proceeded to open the omelet to check the rest of the them. They were all that way. I picked them all out and set them aside. As were were waiting to catch someone's attention, and the omelet was open, I realized they also neglected to put in the broccoli all together. Strike two. Di arrived to the table and picked up one of the mushrooms and squeezed it between her fingers and said "That's what a mushroom is!" ... We looked at her dumbfounded and reiterated the fact that they were RAW. We stated that the mushrooms in his omelet were fully cooked, mine were not AND they completely forgot the broccoli. Di huffed and grabbed the plate and started yelling instructions to the cooks on her way to the window. Very unprofessional to be so loud that the entire restaurant could hear her. My boyfriend and I looked at each other and i decided that at this point I no longer wished for them to remake anything and preferred to just be done. I walked up to the front and let them know. He had enough of the attitude and decided to quit eating as well and we walked up to the counter to pay and leave. The cashier offered a coupon which we declined and stated we would not be returning. They called Di over to take over the transaction and she proceeded to argue with us and accused me of eating most of the omelet and then requesting it to be remade! What!? Strike three. She, very loudly, demanded to know who the waitress was, but we tried to explain that this was not the waitresses fault. Di accosted us by saying we have no right to tell her how she should 'deal' with her waitstaff. "That's not how we roll here", she said. That it was the waitresses fault for not checking on us. She even tried to state that they were very busy and mistakes happen... yes, mistakes happen but they were anything but busy. The restaurant may have been 1/4 full and that's an exaggeration! It was around 1:30 in the afternoon. We handed the waitress a tip to be sure she was not abused by this unfortunate situation. It was proven that the waitress entered the omelet correctly into the computer. It was the cook who made it wrong. Di's attitude has now ruined her chances at ever seeing us in there again. I will be sure to let anyone i know about our experience and advise them not to go there since she obviously does not know how to 'deal' with her paying customers. She proceeded to charge us the entire amount, even though the omelet was wrong and uneaten. She made this situation a loud and unnecessary scene for the entire restaurant.
