Classic looking dive. It looks pretty worn out, from the patrons to the bar itself. Di's Den is one of those neighborhood hangouts. Just happened to catch this place going by on the bus and turned out better than it seemed like it was luckily. The drinks are pretty cheap, and there's a pool table. A place like this is becoming rarer with the cheap drinks. It's about $6 for some of the stronger stuff. They have one of those chilled Jagger things. Always a welcome sight in a dive bar. Plenty of cheap beers in bottles and cans, as well as plenty of the hard stuff. Has some entertainment. They're popular for darts, and you can play pool. Kind of cramped in here and hard to move around. This is even worse when it's a busy time like when there's a game. Have some good and cheap drinks. It has some cheap ass beer or some cheap strong cocktails if you prefer. There's also patrons who like it for playing darts, the pool table, and whatever. read more

A great dive bar. We'll, I mean that in the best of ways. It's local so on a given day you will see locals. And with Covid-19 still around, nice to see them taking temperature checks and keeping the social distance thing. I think k this is important to see and let those of use who just came in for the first time to see their practices. Nice job. Now I will day I wasn't at all impressed with the drinks. Asked for Cucumber vodka with sprite, and it was flat. Didn't taste right at all but I kept it as this is my 1st time here. Well, the water was good. And bartender (owner?) Gave us apple shots that he makes in house (hmmm usually I don't do "homemade" moonshine but I was pleasantly surprised. It was smooth and really good. When I got home that's when it hit me! Good times for sure. All in all it's a good spot to stop in for a friendly face of locals although I only knew my friends, everyone was friendly. read more

Stopped in after a food tasting at our wedding caterer's shop because I love little corner bars like this. It did not disappoint. Super friendly and relaxed atmosphere coupled with inexpensive pours of decent bourbon. It's everything you could ask for in a quintessential Chicago neighborhood bar. read more

I love a good dive and Di's Den is about as good dive as you'll ever see. Cheap drinks, good drinks, great atmosphere, great staff, free everything! Well...you know...not everything. But want to play pool? Not a penny! How about some darts? Nope, they won't take your money. Need some chips to go with your suds? Head to the table that has them sitting out with salsa & indulge for no extra fee. Jukebox music? Oh yea, it can happen...for free. They let you hook up your phone if you like and play away. Um...that's a dream. Hanging out at Di's Den feels like hanging at a friend's basement - super chilled and taken care of - just the kind of environment I'm into. There was no shortage of space. It was busy but not packed to the brims and for that it shoots straight to my list of favorite weekend spots. The bartender here was amazing. He had my back and made delicious drinks. Plus his semi-Irish accent thing he had going on...Oooooohhhh....if I wasn't a spoken for lady, I would have been straight swooning. This place is the definition of a dive bar. It doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. They have cheap beer in cans and well drinks. Darts to play for free, a pool table (although might be a wait for this since they only have 1), and good tunes. Went here on a Saturday and was pretty quiet, everyone was friendly and had a great time with my friends. I can't hold anything against them since they know what they are and what they do well. They're wasnt any food for sale from what I could see. There's food options around the area and next door, not sure if they'd be open to you bringing it over, but didn't seem like itd be an issue. If your in the area and want to throw some darts and have a beer, why not? read more

My husband threw in the dart league and would occasionally have an away game here. I used to accompany him because I myself like to throw darts and am friends with all the guys on the team. Also, watching the guys play is interesting and I think it strengthens my dart strategy. However, I stopped accompanying him when he would go to Di's because the drinks are just terrible. They measure the shots and then charge what we think are expensive prices for a bar in Portage Park. Unless you're a darter that doesn't mind paying Lakeview prices for drinks, it's really not that great. read more

Owner is the worst, acts entitled and like the world revolves around her and her little bar. Her employees are just like her, rude af. Patrons smoke cigarettes and weed right outside the doors and gawk at women as they walk by. It's appalling to witness. Owner has no respect for those that live around this place. Typical I guess of a "neighborhood bar" but I wouldn't recommend, at all. I went to the UYE here last night so now Yelp tells me my next review awaits and I'm happy to oblige. This is a neighborhood place. Its a bar with a separate dart room. The dart activities were in full swing. The local crowd is a little older. Again, just another notch in my quest to visit every bar in the city. But how our group was treated by the management, bartender and locals makes this a five star place. Also, some trivia from Dan: Portage Park is named for the "portage" that existed along Irving Park. People used to transport their canoes across land from Lake Michigan to the Des Plaines River and onward to New Orleans. Lets see, LSD to Cumberland - thats eight miles. They didn't have Di's Den back then to stop for a drink. I think I would have not fared well as an explorer or pioneer. read more

This is the second time in a month I've been shushed or gotten strange looks for being loud with a group in a bar. Is a quiet bar some new trend I'm unaware of? I came to Di's Den for a UYE (unofficial Yelp event) organized by my Yelp pal Sandy. I wasn't expecting much from this dive bar, but I would definitely say it's more of a comfortable neighborhood bar than a "dive." It's clean, unpretentious, and the bartenders are friendly. One thing I dread about Friday nights at any bar is the potential for a lack of seating. Di's has plenty of tables, and we were never bumping into other people even though it was quite busy for a dart tournament. Di's isn't just a local watering hole. There's a pool table, a TON of dart boards, and a juke box that even lets you play music from your phone. The crowd is older - no young clubhead types or skank-a-sauruses on the prowl anywhere in sight. Well drinks were $4-5 each, there's a full bar, and of course, beer. read more

This place..... This damn place! Is freaking awesome! 10 Dart boards people. 10! and they have individual halogen lights so it's very easy to see. You can't do "take aways?" because you got GED? No worries! They even have computerized scoring machine for the dummies! (I was little inebriated so I used it) It makes the game go lot smoother and faster. It's same as bowling. If you ain't drinking, you ain't having fun. It was Friday night when a friend and I visited this place, and it's when they have some kind of dart tournament and the pot was over a grand! I'm not much of a player so I just shot some before everyone got there and just drank my $3 16oz coors light. Oh yeah, how cheap is that? You don't like darts? No worries, this bar has another room! One for darts and booze, the other one is just for booze! Good stuff! If you play darts, you definitely have to come by this place. I think this place is holy grail of darts in Chicago, I heard the old timers talking about different places they used to shoot. A lot of regulars here, all the ones I've talked to are very cool and pleasant to talk to. Average age is probably around 40-50. Some are older, and they are one bad ass dart players. Owners are awesome, she came by and talked to us for few minutes and cracking jokes. Even gave me some tips to be a better darts player! A bicameral establishment, with two rooms, one devoted to catering and dart tournaments, and the other, being where the "regulars" hang out, more catered to a local tavern feel. Di and her establishment has been the prominent steel-tip dart bar in Chicago for quite a few years, and has hosted quite a few tournaments with their 13 available dart boards. Blind draw tournaments are a staple there on Fridays, plus plenty of dart league teams play out of this mecca of Chicago darts. One pool table, but it's free! Good folks, fast bartenders, Golden Tee, etc. Very low on the creepy old man/frat boy ratio - just regular people. My first few visits to Di's Den was a great experience. However, today's experience just totally ruined it. My visit today just left a horrible taste in my mouth. I was meeting a few people from our dart group and got there a little early. I told the bartender I was waiting on a couple dart buddies and I ordered a coke and started throwing darts with my wife. 45 min later the bartender walked over to us and with a snotty, and arrogant attitude said verbatim, bartender- "I don't mean to be ignorant, but next time you are going to have to order something else. I can't afford to have you back here throwing darts if that's all you are going to order." me- you mean alcohol? bartender- "yes. Alcohol" I wanted to tell the bartender I was an alcoholic, but I thought to myself it's not his business to know why we don't order alcohol. However, the bartender did use the correct word to describe his actions. IGNORANT. So Are alcoholics not welcome in Di's Den? On different occasions the bartender with the thick irish accent gave me a funny look every time I ordered some soda. The other few times I was here at Di's Den I would spend over $20 dollars on soda, and some dart parts. It took a very long time for me to get myself to step into a place like Di's Den, but if buying "soda" isn't enough so that my wife and I can have a good time throwing darts, then we will just have to find some place else. I wasn't left with much of an option, other than to leave, but the other bartender that works during the weekdays is much nicer. read more

was in the neighborhood last weekend for a six corners event and decided to pop in here for a drink afterwards. there's really not a whole lot around this area, so we were happy to find di's den. and what a find it was! i don't usually frequent dive bars but am always surprised by how cheap the drinks are. it's pretty sobering to then realize how much they're upcharging you everywhere else. anyways. this bar is composed of essentially two rooms that are joined together through the bar and a separate door that connects the rooms. kind of hard to explain, but you'll get it when you see it. one room has the pool table while the other room has a bunch of dart boards! when have you ever been to a dive bar that has so many fun things to do inside? well you will when you come to di's den. but best of all - great crowd and real friendly people in here. especially the bartender who has that real midwestern charm and can magically work both sides of the bar (one side in each of the rooms) with such ease all by himself. the only thing to know is that this place is cash only. they have an atm on-site that will charge you an arm and a leg in fees. so be sure to bring cash with you if you're headed here for a drink! read more

Di's Den, Chicago's largest dart bar! Friendly regulars, great bartenders, cold beer. The food selection leaves something to be desired but when you're looking for a place to play darts in Chicago I couldn't recommend anywhere better. The bar is split into two sides. The "bar" side as I'll call it, has a couple of tables, a pool table, SilverStrike Bowling, GoldenTee Golf, and a digital jukebox. The "dart" side of the bar is quite large and boasts 8 dart boards, another whole bar, and plenty of room to sit and relax. They have about a dozen TV's and always play the local sports games. Being that it's more to the north side of town you're more likely to see the Cubs than the Sox but it doesn't mean they won't accomodate you if you want to watch them. Friday nights they hold a blind draw style tournament with a hotshot contest and a mystery out as well. It gets pretty busy in there for sure. They are also host to several local dart league teams all throughout the year. Stop in and say hello. I'll probably be there! read more

I have been her a few times while my hubby played in a few dart tournaments. It's a really nice place. Good drink selection and the bar tenders are always super friendly. The best thing about this place is the fact that the bar it self is double sided. That is pretty awesome when there is tournaments going on. The dart room is really big and there is always plenty of seating. Also there is 2 restrooms so you never have to wait in line. As far as dive bars go this is definitely one of the better ones that I have been to. read more

Made a quick pre-cinema stop here to kill some time. Big space. Real clean. Bottles and cans of beer only - no tap. Friendly. The juke had an odd mix of metal and those Stars-and-Stripes songs about the troops: Suburban and Western. Peeps at the bar knew the lyrics and sang along. Felt like I had been dropped somewhere in Kentucky. Felt a bit like a tea party. And not the Alice in Wonderland one. No Mad Hatter. No Rabbit. But it sure does look like dart central-one entire wall for your flinging pleasure. read more

I have had a hankering to play some competitive darts since I moved from Atlanta. After looking around on the internet, Di's Den seemed like a good bet. They have a blind draw tournament every Friday night that apparently gets pretty good attnedance. There were probably 30 people there last Friday and I was told that was a relatively low turn out. The tournament was well run. My rustiness was apparent! Most importantly, I met some nice folks that loved to play darts. Since I also have that love for the "sport", I fit in nicely. I wish it were a little bit closer to my place. But, beggers can't be choosers. The beer was pretty cheap, the place was clean, and the staff friendly and prompt. WhayT I like about this bar is the size and how the bar is divided into two sections. So you can't see the drunk skunk on the other side as there is a wall partition and just a little area for the bartender to go back and forth. The bar is divided into two rooms and the second room is like a big dart arena. I have not seen any bar yet that devot so much of its space to the sport of throwing a dart. The televsion screens could get an update and the beer was cheap. read more

This has become my neighborhood bar. When I am in a hang out at the bar mood, I will drive into the city from the western burbs just to hang out at Di's. Very friendly group of regulars and the bartender on Saturday nights can not be matched. read more
