Great value, generous portions and delicious food! We fed 2 people for $150 pesos. Half chicken (Piri piri) and potatoes for him and feta salad (with cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado, onion, lettuce, housemade vinaigrette, and generous cheese) for me. Enjoyed this place very much. Harry and Maria are excellent hosts, and know how to cook fish and chicken. Harry is German, Maria is Portuguese and you can taste it in the potatoes and rice, try both when you visit. Loved our Feta salad for two. The fish in shrimp sauce was made to order and the two of us couldn't finish it. And the best part? Our bill, you can't beat this in downtown Playa! read more

We walked past this place a few times before realizing it was run by a German who really knows how to make real German food. I thought it was a chicken rotisserie restaurant because as you walk by you see and smell the most delicious chicken in town being cooked just inches inside the doorway. But on one stroll past, we saw patrons eating pork schnitzel...and it looked very authentic. We said high to the owner (Harry) and it was clear he was from Germany. We came back later that night for dinner and order schnitzel with Bratkartoffeln...AND fresh salads before dinner. It's always a huge risk ordering salad in Mexico and I've personally paid the price for ignoring those warnings. But knowing that Harry was from Germany gave me great comfort that he was properly cleaning his lettuce. It was the only salad I had on this trip and it was delicious and I had no stomach issues in the days after. The schnitzel and Bratkartoffeln was authentic and as good as you'd get in any restaurant in Germany. To cap off the dinner, we ordered the homemade Mousse Chocolate and it was to die for!! Our favorite dessert during our week in Playa del Carmen. We loved and ate our weight in Mexican food that week...but also loved our German meal at Dirty Harry's. Nothing dirty about this place!!
