I was disappointed by the beer selection; all IPA high-hop, citrusy, unfiltered options; DOESN'T WORK FOR ME. Tried to order food, "kitchen doesn't open until 4pm come back when it's open." SIGH! Interesting on such a beautiful day only a handful of people there. Some good music playing softly on a speaker very hard to hear. WHY NO LIVE MUSIC on a Friday afternoon/evening? Ordered a buffalo chicken-wrap and chicken fingers; the wrap was uninspiring and the chicken fingers seemed like they opened a bag of prepared frozen chicken that were re-heated in a toaster oven. On this day there was a food truck arriving at 4pm, Roamin Wild Mobile Kitchen from Worcester. Unfortunately I'm not excited eating exotic game-food like alligator and other road kill. The best thing about this place was the bartender was friendly and patient. I'm sorry, it has great potential but as-is it's dull and moribund, a FAIL for me.

Friends since high school, Mason and Tarbell have shared a passion for quality craft beer for quite some time. After years of visiting various breweries with their families and friends, the partners began serious talks about opening their own brewery. Not only did they aspire to open a brewery that featured a variety of beer styles, but also a family friendly taproom. Mason has an extensive background in homebrewing, and both partners have a background in business. Clinton was ultimately chosen as the location for their brewery because it lacked a family friendly brewery. A second location opened at Pathway Devens (a biomanufacturing campus operated by King Street Properties) in May 2024. I recently visited Sterling Street Brewery's original Clinton location for the first time. It was also the first time that I was meeting up a with a large group of New England-based craft beer bloggers/enthusiasts who frequently have meet-ups at breweries. The taproom was decent-sized with maybe 10 large tables available for seating. There were an additional 20 or so tables outside, but it was still a little too cold outside to utilize those. I would imagine that the patio area is popular during the warmer months. After grabbing some food from a food truck, I headed to the bar. I ordered a taster flight that featured "Newfound Pale" (Citra Pale Ale), "Otherwise" (New England IPA), "Michael Diamond" (New England IPA), and "Midnight Marauder" (Stout). I enjoyed them all, but I was most impressed by the Pale Ale. I later enjoyed full pours of "Gingerbread Snuggles" (Winter Ale) and "Double Sabotage" (Double New England IPA). The beer was solid, the space was nice, and I had a blast meeting and socializing with so many other local craft beer enthusiasts. I give Sterling Street my seal of approval and I hope to check out their Devens location in the future!

Nashoba Valley is one of those places! We visited last week, a party of four, and what began as a leisurely lunch turned into an absolutely magical afternoon and evening. From dining beside the grapevines and wandering through the apple orchards to wine tasting and an exquisite dinner, every part of our visit was a pleasure. Our first stop was The Knoll, where we settled in for lunch surrounded by the beauty of the vineyards. The sandwiches were excellent, and our server was an absolute delight--warm, cheerful, attentive and always smiling. But the highlight of our afternoon was something entirely unexpected. As we sat enjoying our lunch, we noticed the grapevines nearby. When we learned that we were welcome to pick and taste the grapes directly from the vines, we were thrilled! These were the tiniest, sweetest little grapes, bursting with natural sweetness. There we were, four adults, having the most marvelous time plucking grapes straight from the vines and savoring every bite. It was such a simple pleasure, yet it became one of the most memorable moments of our visit. There is something wonderfully indulgent about enjoying nature's bounty right where it grows! After lunch, we took a leisurely stroll through the beautiful orchard, admiring the apple trees and picking a few apples along the way. The grounds were lovely, and the entire experience had that unhurried, quintessentially New England charm that makes an afternoon in the countryside so special. Our next stop was wine tasting, another thoroughly enjoyable experience and a lovely way to spend the afternoon before heading to J's Restaurant for dinner. And what an extraordinary way to end the day! J's is an absolute gem. From the outside, the rustic farmhouse has an understated, old-world charm. Step inside, however, and you discover an interior that is cozy, elegant and stunningly beautiful. It strikes that wonderful balance between refined dining and the warmth of a country home. The atmosphere is inviting and intimate, without a hint of pretension. The dinner itself was phenomenal. Every dish we ordered was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The quality of the food, the presentation and the attentive hospitality made for a truly memorable dining experience. By the time we finished our meal, we were so delightfully satisfied that we simply couldn't contemplate dessert. But J's had one final surprise in store for us! We were told that the owner has a charming tradition for guests who don't order dessert. Moments later, out came the most whimsical little treat: complimentary cotton candy, beautifully presented in elegant glasses! It was completely unexpected, wonderfully playful and such a delightful gesture. After an exquisite dinner, this little flourish brought smiles to all our faces. It was the perfect finishing touch to an already exceptional evening. What impressed me most about Nashoba Valley was the genuine warmth and hospitality we encountered throughout our visit. From our lovely server at The Knoll to the gracious service at J's, everyone made us feel welcome. There is an unmistakable sense of pride and care here, not only in the food and wine but also in the experience they create for their guests. Nashoba Valley is so much more than a winery or a restaurant. It is a destination to be savored. Come for a leisurely lunch, linger among the vineyards, wander through the orchards, enjoy a wine tasting and finish with a beautiful dinner at J's.
