So I came here a couple times to try on glasses frames. Let me tell you..... Dean is a star! The moment I opened the door, he was so happy to get me started. I soon found out that Dean is a personal stylist there and he does a fantastic job connecting with people and helping them find the perfect pair of glasses. You can really tell he enjoys his job! The African American woman, hands down love her! She's down to earth, funny, personable, and also connects to customers very well. The manager, shes lovely and very welcoming too. The only odd ball of the group is Alan, one of the opticians. He's one of those "one of these things is not like the other". They sat me down with him so he could input my info, and it was like talking to an automation machine. To be honest, it doesn't seem like he fits with the culture there. I'm asking him questions about what my vision insurance covers and he's giving non detailed answers and kept asking if I wanted to finalize and purchase. Almost like he didn't want to be there and trying to end the conversation. Major turn off. I was so happy when I walked away from his table. Nobody wants to deal with that negative space. One bad apple shouldn't ruin the overall bushel so I'm going to keep the 5 stars listed because everybody else was amazing and really made me enjoy my glasses hunting experience. read more

I love this location and the great selections. I went in today to take a look at the designer frames "Trunk Show" selections. They also get new designer frames in almost weekly! You will most likely find 1, 2, 3 or more frames you love. The people are extremely friendly and helpful. Mariana goes above & beyond to ensure the customer is pleased with their purchase and experience. I personally had a situation where the insurance provider (VSP) damaged the frames I purchased when it was sent to VSP to create the lenses and put them in the designer frames I purchased. Mariana contacted VSP, elevated the issue, demanded they reimburse the cost of the frame, and requested they send her the pre-cut prescription so Direct Optique could cut and insert the lenses into the new replacement designer frames I selected to replace the frame VSP damaged. I was and still am extremely pleased with my purchases and experience. And will continue to refer family, friends, and even strangers. read more

Upon arrival I was greeted right away and was taken back with the amount of frames they had to choose from. Def frame heaven!!! I gave the 2 stars to the staff who work here because they are very kind but the doctor here has a very nasty and rude attitude. I have literally been going here since highschool. About 16+ years as a patient there. There have been several new doctors and she is always combative for no reason at all. I tried to give her a chance but this is the third year and she makes me not want to ever come back. I literally got my eye exam and then cancelled the contact lenses trials hours later. She always says she will order my trials every time but never does. She told me my vision is WORSE than better after saying throughout the session it got better. I have never had an issue with any doctor until her. I will not be returning. She always has something slick to say to me. Idk if she has anything against black woman but I won't be back. I've been a customer here for about 4 yrs now and I constantly feel like I've been overcharged. I was just charged $215 out of pocket, and the total was $405 before insurance, to have my lenses replaced. I looked up the average price online and it said $100. I paid for blue light protection and was seeing blue dots from headlights while driving. I was never told this would happen bc had I known I would've never chose that option. I was told it was only $20 extra but come to find out it was $179. And of course I will not be refunded. They gave me lenses w/o it and are keeping my money. I'm done with them. Go here if you want to be overcharged. The doctor is not very friendly either and she made me wait over 15 minutes bc she was chatting; unprofessional. read more

The employees here were so nice to me and to us! They had loads of patience because I could not make up my mind! I even got to talk with Dr McKenzie and she even tried to help me make a choice! She's so nice and very pleasant! She really tried to help and didn't complain when I was taking too long to choose! She even walked out with us chatting! I really liked her a lot! Also the one employee with dark hair and cute glasses, African American young woman truly helped me a lot too! She had the patience of a saint! She let me look and she was not "pushy" in the least ! The only reason that I didn't get glasses there, is because they were just too expensive even as much as I loved them! So this building specifically is so modern and unique and big and spacious, very nice. I like how they have candles lit.The staff are overly super nice and friendly people who are really helpful. I came to get my eyes checked out because I was having problems. When it was time for me to pick out some frames I literally didn't even have to move an inch. At least 3 staff members were giving me tons and tons to try on as well as giving me their opinions. Overall my experience here was pretty great. My Problem: I am a young college student who still isn't sure how these type of things work as well as not working with a lot of money going into this. As soon as I got home and showed my parents my new glasses & how much I paid for them, my parents Informed me we have great insurance and it gives us so much to spend and if we choose a more expensive pair then we have to pay the difference. I felt taken advantage of by the staff and feel as if I should have been informed how much my insurance would have covered & how much I was working with. Then I starting thinking these people probably work off commission & its probably why THEY were the ones bringing me all the glasses out of Tiffany & Tom Ford & wherever else. Absolutely amazing place! We first went here when my husband had an issue with his eye. The doctor was able to diagnose him right away and prescribe him an antibiotic. Once his eye cleared, we went back for an updated prescription for contacts and glasses. Both times have been absolutely amazing! Everyone is so nice and helpful. Besides being the nicest optical store I have ever been in, they have the largest variety of eyewear I have ever seen from your basic pairs to the top of the line! This company is harassing me with text messages every month. I never once gave my permission to use my phone number for texts. I came here once and never again. Here is why I will not be returning here. First of all, I own a yoga studio and came here right from work. I was in my yoga attire with no makeup and my hair was a mess. I didn't realize I had to dress nice to be treated with respect here. While I was waiting for my appointment, I was looking around at different designer name brand glasses. A woman approached me with no questions and said "these glasses aren't for you" and pointed me to the cheap glasses. I couldn't believe what had happened. I was embarrassed and wanted to tell her just how much money my household makes. Instead I bit my tongue and continued on waiting for the eye doctor. The eye doctor was one who acts like he knows everything and you know nothing. I made a mistake on my form about an eye condition I have and when I pointed it out he literally chuckled at me. I always get treated like a VIP here. They have wonderful customer service. A great selection of eye wear on hand from bargain, to designer. I'm pretty on my glasses and never have an issue with broken frames or scratched lenses, and they always happily refit or retighten my glasses no matter how long it's been since I've bought them. I will NEVER buy and/or recommend this place, I felt rushed during the examination, when I asked a question the lady doing the exam was very short and to top it all off they sold me additional things like "polycarbonate feature" that would make the eyeglasses "super scratch and resistant", but after 2 months one lens is already showing imperfections and they want to charge me an extra $100 to replace it, my initial total was approx. $550.00, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY, the quality is terrible and I can't believe the glasses I purchased at target for a fraction of the cost are in way better shape. read more

The one criticism I have for this place is that three years ago when I was getting an exam, the doctor started pulling at eyes during the exam: trying to look in them and he was extremely aggressive. I came here after hearing their ad on the radio it was a great experience. I was in and out within two hours and with a new pair of seeing eyeglasses that are fabulous Christian Dior! I walked in and was greeted right away with a pleasant lady who ran my insurance card, and got me in right away for an eye exam and tried on many different frames. The doctor there was very professional and so kind. I was also pleased to find Mr. Savich there as he is one of my mutual friends and was so helpful and excited to see me there. After my exam, my lenses were cut and my frames were fit to my measurements. I love my new blingy frames and will be coming back for anything else I need. After having an awful experience with an impatient, pompous, and entitled optometrist who was flustered because I was not providing the answers she was hoping to hear, and then later told another optometrist that she "purposely gave me a difficult eye chart so I would need a prescription," I knew it was time to switch to a new optometrist. Subsequently, I visited my primary care physician whom recommended Direct Optical Canton Optique. This office provided excellent optical services and the prices and amount of eyewear the office has can not be beat! The sales professionals were very knowledgeable and have a fantastic eye for fashion. I have never been able to find a pair of sunglasses that fit nicely on my face, but on my first visit, I confidently walked out with two! Moreover, the office itself was very inviting and cleanly. Furthermore, the staff was wonderful! While the optician, Pauline, was delightful and welcoming, the star of the office was Dr. Karana. She was very clean, friendly, knowledgeable, and very patient. She answered all my questions and really took her time and made me feel like my eye exam was personal rather than just "another eye exam." What amazed me most is her passion for optometry. Though I missed some of the "old-timers" (Robert!) who took consistently good care of us when we first visited here about 12 years or so ago, it looks as if the good service and customer care remain with new folks. We had a terrible experience at Direct Optical. We set up a discount program with them for our company and they gave us the dog and pony show to get us in the door and its been down hill since. They were to directly bill our company and they sent personal information of one employee to ANOTHER employee! An employee went into their location misinterpreting the program we had set up and received a very unprofessional response in return. In response to the misinterpretation, the owner of the company called yelling at me, not giving any kind of opportunity to respond or render the situation. The heated conversation was all over $29! I had a small issue that was taken care of then but, to my astonishment, they remembered me when I called again three years later. I recently visited Direct Optical Canton when I lost my glasses on a Saturday and I wanted to get a quick check up and have my prescription updated before getting new glasses. When I told an employee (possibly the owner) that I would not be buying glasses there and I would instead be buying glasses at Warby Parker, she screamed at me in the store and told me she refused to give me my PD. And then questioned me about my choices saying that other people have told her that Warby Parker makes a cheap products. This was absolutely inappropriate and ridiculous behavior. I have never been treated like this ever in my life and I will never be coming back to this business. If I were you I would steer clear of this place if you can. I'm sure the owner will comment on this and claim that none of this is true, but it is absolutely true and I'm still shaken up about it, this is no way for any business to treat a customer. read more

BUT DO NOT DISPUTE HER AUTHORITY. She, owner will scream and insult you publicly. I was screamed at publicly by owner Marianna when I told her I could not see properly through my new glasses I'd just purchased from them. She made me feel like I had the problem and that I was difficult ,, by no means was it their error. She then said try them for another week, I just had to adjust to them. The progressive lens had waves, they were way off. I decided to take glasses to my eye doctor that dose my eye exams. I was told they were for sure not the high quality lens I was charged for. I was told these lenses were OLD SCHOOL, they were no longer being used . I went back to Direct Optical in Canton. Giving owner the benefit of the doubt ,I decided not to mention these findings. I just told her I could not see, these glasses had waves. She demanded I give her the glasses back. She practically ripped them out of my hands. Then she yelled and screamed that theres nothing wrong with the glasses , how she bent over backwards to help me and how I have the problem. She said that it was a small town in the eye ware industry and no-one is going to ever sell me eye glasses again. She then did not want to return all my money. REALLY. After publicly humiliating me,you want to charge me... Oh, I'm no longer allowed in there store...I'm o.k with that... Marianna, I have a family, trust me I do not want another one. FYI.. People want what they pay for and when they come into your store they are really looking for good quality glasses.....not mystery lenses and a 2nd family.
