This place have been around in town for a while now. I like to pop in here every now and then when visiting home. The workers are typically nice. Usually a lot of teenagers/young adults working. I'm not sure if it's family owned or not . Plenty of open parking spaces and decent prices. I got a brownie sundae and added wet walnuts. It was pretty good. Don't be confused by the name, as I initially was. This is NOT the same as Dippin Dots. It's regular old-fashioned ice cream, and it's pretty darn good. I ordered the strawberry cheesecake, and it was very good. This summer has been a sweltering one in Martinsville, so this place is particularly welcome. The only downside is that it's out on the edge of town, heading toward Ridgeway, so it's a bit of a drive from Collinsville, for example. But it's worth it. read more

Yummy!!! I had to visit Dippers while in Martinsville after hearing everyone rave about it! It was delicious! They have a pretty robust ice cream menu including hand dipped ice cream, shakes, sundaes, soft serve, ice cream sandwiches and cookies. I got the Oreo sundae and it was great ... a little too much for me to finish but I enjoyed every bite. I highly recommend the strawberry cheesecake ice cream. They have plenty of patio/lawn seating so this is great place for families to enjoy their treats. Locals find the place to be a little expensive but it's actually cheaper than most comparable places like Cold Stone. They accept cash and cards. There is plenty of parking. Really enjoyed stopping here. I was craving a milkshake and saw this place on my way back to NC. The staff were courteous and prompt. Prices are very reasonable. They have a huge selection. Update: You must try the banana pudding ice cream. It is actually better than real banana pudding. It even has the wafers in it. The blueberry cheesecake ice cream is also wonderful (has bits of graham cracker crust in it). They sell some of the flavors in pints but they sell out. If you see a flavor advertised on their Facebook page, do not dally! I missed out on the birthday cake ice cream this year because I waited too long. Dippers has an ever-changing ice cream menu, but I don't think it matters what flavor you choose because it'll be delicious no matter what. I had the birthday cake ice cream, and out of all the birthday cake ice creams I've tried, this has got to be the best. Why? Because Dippers' cake flavor doesn't taste artificial and includes actual cake chunks. The pecan pie ice cream also had actual titular ingredients and was infused with delicious caramel! While visiting Martinsville for the Smith River Festival, several locals mentioned we needed to eat ice cream here before leaving town. Dippers did not disappoint and lived up to the hype! My husband ordered the seasonal Peach in a waffle cone and I ordered the Banana Pudding flavor in a cup. Both were amazing! Where else can you get Banana Pudding flavored ice cream? It was almost as good as the real thing with small bits of Banana and vanilla wafers. The peach flavor was sweetened just perfectly with small chunks of real peaches. I appreciated that neither flavor was sickening sweet with sugar. Will definitely stop here again next time we're in Martinsville! read more

I was visiting my grandchildren and they told me such great things about Dippers. They decided to take me for my very first visit a few weeks ago. We get to the window and wait for about 5 minutes to place our order and no one ever came up to the window. I started to look into the window to see if anyone was around and I saw a male employee and a female employee hovered up on one another in the corner and I thought it was very inappropriate, repulsive, and very affectionate especially since my grandchildren were there. I do not think that this type of behavior should not be acceptable in the work place. You all will not be receiving my business any further. read more
