Oh man this place has the potential to be so dangerous…read more Do you remember, in the pre-Katrina days, there was a place at Oakwood Mall (and maybe The Riverwalk) that was called Sweet Factory? You went into this delightful little candy shop, filled your bag with as many goodies as you wanted, and they charged you by weight. Well, Lolli and Pops is the same type of place. I was drawn into Lolli and Pops with a free sample of candy- candy from strangers is acceptable in cases like this. Walking in, I was in candy heaven; there were sweets of all types to explore. My favorite section was probably the candy from overseas- they had a lot of Asian treats that you can't get anywhere else and they have Pocky here!! They had regular sugar candy, a chocolate section and a while chocolate section. Chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered everything- I wanted it all. If filling a bag isn't your thing, they have a wide selection of goodies that are wrapped and boxed and ready to go. They also had really cool things like giant Rice Krispie Treats, cotton candy and fancy sodas that would be great for a party. I am really tempted to get one of those Rice Krispie Treats for my birthday...really tempted. I'm knocking off a star only because the place was jam packed and it kept me from really digging in and exploring all of the candy. I know it was a Saturday, so if I return it'll be on a weekday.

It was nice to finally experience this place but it's quite overpriced to me for the quality. I…read moretried 4 of the truffles and had the lavender, strawberry, bourbon, and passion fruit. Only half way liked the lavender. The others not so much. Service and the cashier were nice/pleasant. The shop is cute and colorful. Nostalgic and exciting to be a "kid is a candy store"! My godchild loved the gummy sour candies he got. Also tried the birthday cake caramel corn. It doesn't have much of a taste. The caramel is even bland. I did appreciate that it wasn't overly sweet but would actually have preferred that. Could be my choices. I may try something else from here soon.

La Divina has become one of my favorite places in Baton Rouge. I usually stop in for a dry…read morecappuccino, and it's consistently excellent. What keeps bringing me back, though, is the atmosphere. In the mornings, it's quiet, warm, and inviting--the perfect place to read, think, or prepare for the day. It's also become one of my favorite spots to meet with colleagues, entrepreneurs, and investors because it's comfortable enough for conversation without feeling noisy or rushed. I also want to recognize Bethany, who makes a genuine difference in the experience. She greets everyone with a warm, full smile that immediately makes you feel welcome. She's attentive, thoughtful, and truly cares about making things right if something isn't quite as expected. That kind of hospitality is rare, and it shows. If you're looking for more than just a good cup of coffee--a place where you can slow down, think, read, or have a meaningful conversation--La Divina is well worth a visit.

I was very disappointed with the panini sandwiches at La Divina Cafe. I ordered the roast beef…read morepanini, and to my surprise, it contained only a single, paper-thin slice of roast beef. For a sandwich advertised as roast beef, I expected a reasonable portion of meat, not something that was barely noticeable. The portion was extremely disappointing and made the sandwich feel like a poor value. If you're going to serve a roast beef panini, the roast beef should actually be a substantial part of the sandwich. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would have a hard time recommending their paninis.
