Dip & Flip is basically just another burger place. Only that they have successfully perfected this classic dish with a simple trick: adding gravy for dipping. If you ask me, this makes it easily one of the best burgers in London.
I was looking for quick snack on the way to a house party and the newly opened Dip & Flip branch in Tooting was exactly what I needed.
I really liked the large windows at Dip & Flip in Tooting. The restaurant is located at a corner, and the light interior together with the big windows along two walls create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Dip & Flip is a no-frills burger restaurant. What makes Dip & Flip different from other burger places is that they embrace the universally known fact that everything becomes more delicious if you add some gravy.
After I had already been to the two other Dip & Flip branches before, I knew what to expect and decided to try something different this time. So I ordered the lamb burger. It was just as delicious as the beef burger I tasted last time when I went to Dip & Flip in Wimbledon. The patty was nice and pink, juicy and full of flavour. It could perhaps have held together a little better, but as the bun had a good size and coped with all the juiciness very well, the burger was overall still easy to eat.
Dipping a burger in gravy sounds messy, and I can assure you, it can indeed be a challenge not to cover yourself in the tasty brown sauce. However, I found that the more often you do it, the easier it becomes. Luckily, the people running Dip & Flip must know this pretty well, because with every Dip & Flip burger you get a wet tissue to wipe off all the gravy that might most likely end up on your fingers. And there's also a big roll of tissues on every table.
The gravy not only enhances the burger, it also improves the chips. While the chips on their own are good, even though not outstanding perhaps, they are mostly crispy with a pinch of spices. Dipping the chips in gravy immediately makes them all the more tasty.
Seriously, if you have never tried dipping a burger in gravy, you should waste no time and visit any of the currently three Dip & Flip branches. I would be surprised if you left disappointed - at least if you like gravy as much as I do. read more
