They are the only facility in the Fresno area that would accept someone with his diagnosis. When I removed him from his previous facility that was rated 4 stars by Clovis Community, he was so weak that he could not sit up or stand because he had lost nearly 30 pounds because of their poor care. The receptionist at Sierra Vista was very welcoming. The staff was friendly and I could ask any staff member about his condition. At his previous facility I was only allowed to speak to one person and she never gave me answers to my questions regarding his weight, BP, etc. Sierra Vista's dedicated Physical Therapy staff was able to get him up on his feet and walking again. I am extremely thankful for them doing that! When he was discharged to go home many of the staff hugged him goodbye or gave him a kiss on the cheek. They will be happy to know that he is still up and walking. Thank you Sierra Vista!

I take reviewing Sierra Vista healthcare center very seriously because someone's loved one's life…read moremight depend on it. I first want to say that the staff was very kind and hard-working. My Dad had been to Willow creek 9 months prior and had a better experience- but his health was not as bad as it was so it's hard to compare. Willow Creek and no other facility would accept him except for Sierra Vista because he needed a self catheter every six hours due to foley complications he had at the hospital. I'm very grateful that they accepted him and were willing to do this difficult job. My dad arrived after being in the hospital for two weeks. He was immobile and we were hoping he could gain some strength through physical therapy. Upon arriving, I remember feeling as if things were not set up for a patient to succeed physically. My dad's bed felt very cheap and had no rails for him in case he fell. The TV didn't work and he wouldn't have been able to see it anyway, because the bed could barely prop up. He could barely reach his food due to the height differences of the bed and the table. The food was absolutely terrible, and I repeated to them several times that it took him hours to eat. He needed the food to sit in front of him for hours and that he would eventually eat. After 20 minutes of putting the food in front of his face, they would take it away and toss it. Due to this, his kidneys failed because he was not getting any food. They also restricted his fluids because his sodium levels were not great but it was clear he was completely failing from dehydration and malnutrition. We had some other issues and I felt it was almost impossible to get a hold of the doctor. I think there's one Dr on sight once a week or so... when my dad had an allergic reaction, it took hours and hours for them to get approval to put hydrocortisone on his skin, so I actually went to CVS and got it myself because he was suffering. After four days, my dad declined terribly. He couldn't even speak or understand anything. They had trouble getting the catheter in and his bladder got distended so they had to call emergency. At Emergency we learned that my dad's kidneys were failing. He was in the hospital for another two weeks and ultimately it was because he didn't have fluids or proper nutrition. My dad was put on Hospice and since he has been in assisted-living- it's been a miracle and he has made a complete turnaround. I really think it came down to nutrition and comfort. Sierra Vista has some things to work on like cleanliness, the humidity was almost unbearable, the food was a huge issue... But I do believe the staff did their best. All really good people... physical therapy probably wasn't the best situation to put my dad into, so I can't put all the blame on them... I feel he was neglected a bit, but I also think the staff had so much on their hands with other patients. I think if your family member is declining at any facility like this, it's best to get them somewhere very comfortable because being comfortable and fed well is the key to healing.

My husband spent a few months doing in-home PT and then going to another physical therapy office…read more It was good and got him going in the right direction, but he plateaued. Someone recommended The Summit as an alternative, and we decided to try it out. He's been there 5 or 6 times, and it's clear that their approach is going to take him the extra mile to regain his mobility. The harness system is a game changer, I wish more physical therapists would use it. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming at the facility from the front desk to PT staff and even other patients. Kind of wish we'd started out here, but then maybe we wouldn't know how special it was. For reference, my husband has weakness in his right limbs and foot drop due to brain tumors and edema. Peter's personal experience retraining his brain to work his limbs is really important to us because he knows exactly what my husband is dealing with and how to get past it.

My dad spent a little over 3 weeks in this facility back in December 2021 and had a good stay. He became well enough to return home on Christmas Eve but got hospitalized again a couple weeks later and was discharged on 1/19/22. He was, unfortunately, admitted to another nursing facility where the staff's attitude and patient care left much to be desired. My mom was frustrated and in tears nearly every day that my dad was at the other facility because her poor experience with the staff there was unlike her previous experience with the kind and responsive staff at Hanford Post Acute. With Ms. Nancy's help, my mom was able to get my dad discharged from the other nursing facility and transferred to Hanford Post Acute yesterday evening, 2/2/22. It was the next best thing to bringing him home, and when we stopped by with a couple items for my dad last night, his nurse (Michael) assisted us very kindly. Just want to thank the warm hearted staff, including Ms. Nancy, at Hanford Post Acute. You are all doing such an important job, and what you do (and how well you do it) makes such a significant impact on families! Last night was the first time in two weeks that my mom was finally able to relax, not worry about my dad, and get a good night's sleep. We checked in with my dad today and he told us how nice his nurse has been to him. He sounds much happier and well taken care of since his transfer to Hanford Post Acute. Thank you, and God bless you!
