Parking here can be a mess. We left home 2 hours before our show and were so glad we did. The drive from Chicago's West Town area and waiting for parking alone, took us over an hour. Once in the parking lot, we were fortunate to get a spot around the corner from the main entrance. Expect to wait in a long line for concessions, coat check, and the ladies restroom. Prices for drinks and snacks are what you would expect. However, the mixed drinks we purchased were definitely worth the price we paid. Our server at the bar had a "heavy hand" so there was plenty of spirits in the drinks. Definitely appoint a designated driver. Seats are comfy here and the inside of the theatre gets warm. But plan to sit very close to strangers if you don't have an aisle seat. I like the intimate setting of this theatre. Views from row E were fabulous. Being an amateur musician myself, I would say the only critique I have is that at times the instruments sounded louder than vocals, so it made it hard to hear the soloists at times. In all, a December concert here was a beautiful experience and a great way to kick off the holidays!

The first was a concert , but where I was sitting didn't make it feel like a concert . The next event was a comedy show. This venue is much more suited to those kinds of shows you'd see in Vegas. I can definitely see it as an ideal venue for conferences and TEDtalks.

It was a Friday night and I was at Tuscanos Restaurant to watch the entertainment and have a cocktail. While I was there Tony Cassano and Joe Birigante were performing on stage. Their music style was pretty good however they continually degraded Italian-Americans by calling then " Dago's' and " Grease balls". They did this to the point of being rude and disrespectful. Not one person in the restaurant said anything to them. When Tony Cassano got off stage he played a song on the speaker system called " I'm a Dago" and version of " Amadeus". My Grandparents and their Family took a ship to the United States and worked honest hard lives and I felt this was disrespectful to them. My deceased cousin at one time knew half the guys in this restaurant and was part of the Italian-Americans Business Association. Not to mention all the Italian-Americans who serve or served this country in the military were being referred to as " Dago's" and " Grease balls". Me being part Italian and Irish found it disrespectful. I approached Joe Birigante and politely asked him to refer to us as Italian-Americans. I also advised him their were elders in the restaurant who deserved some respect. Joe and Tony, felt since they were Italian that entitled them to use such terms. I remember back in the mid-1980s, in a restaurant on North Ave., in Melrose Park, a waitress started calling the owners friends " Dagos". A man of honor , named Jackie, immediately advised her to refrain from calling them Dago's. Since then, those guys are gone and it seems so is all respect and honor. Tony Cassano continued to use the word " Grease ball", so I got up and left. As I was leaving he made another smart ass wise guy statement, something like, " Don't let the door hit you in the ass!' , Well let me say this, wherever these guys perform any person of respect or honor should walk out. I will always let the door hit me in the ass with these two disrespectful rude performers out of respect for my Family and Friends and for all Italian-Americans who deserve the basic honor and respect that once was. A guess basic respect was once upon a time.

However, one is able to shake hands with the stars and just say 'hi' without paying for an autograph or buying any merchandise, such as books or CDs, that the stars may also be selling. We were very disappointed with the New Year's Eve show we saw at 6:30pm ran by smoothchicago.com…read more First of all why wasn't the Ice Bar up and running? It was NY Eve! We had to go all the way down to the hotel bar which is not handy at all. The seating was so tight in the Montrose Room you could barely get around, especially with no coat check. The sound system was not good. The Drummer had 7 mics on him and he was way too loud. You could barely hear the younger keyboard guy (forgot his name), even Althea Rene had to ask for him to be turned up. It has been many years since we were last at the Montrose Room and saw Norman Brown perform. Things were so much better back then and worth the tix price. Please ditch those tv tray type tables that tip easily with something better to put your drink on. You can do better! As to not just complain, we did enjoy the musicians and overall we enjoyed their music. Plus it was fun to dress up and go out to hear live music for New Year's Eve. However, to pay good money for the tix and pay a lot for parking, just to be left disappointed saddened us. Not enough effort was put into the whole experience.

A bonafide live music venue outside the city limits? Believe it!…read more I have the feeling the luxe Montrose Room won't be a well-kept suburban secret for much longer. Housed in the seriously chic InterContinental hotel, this intimate music venue boasts ringside cabaret seating and killer acoustics. It's obvious they poured a large investment in making sure the sound is top-notch! Right outside the doors leading into the Montrose Room is the Ice Bar. The specialty cocktails are made with some of my favorite things: St-Germain, champagne floats, passion fruit juice, and lychee vodka among other sexy ingredients. For the man in your life? Some stellar whisky, bourbon and cognac selections. Tip: Don't forget to have your parking validated by a bartender on the way out and you'll only pay $5. And, be sure to take a stroll around the hotel - the art collection is FAB.

My partner had a great time laughing all the way through. It wasn't packed on a Sunday and you can park on the streets just make sure it's not by a sign that says tow. This location does not have their own private parking lot, but they do have a $20 private valet parking service where you can park behind the house - I do not recommend that you use this. There is street parking past the valet parking guys, and the street parking is FREE, just be aware of specific spots on the street with "no parking" signs to avoid tickets/towing. On to the house itself, it's fun, but short - like maximum 15 minutes. The sets are great and the costumes/actors are all really well done as well. They do run pre-season specials like $12.99 ticket sales - I think for that price it's worth a visit to 13th Floor, but I wouldn't pay full price. There is also a nice gift shop at the end of the house itself with various merch and halloween items and escape rooms you can do which are fun. Overall, I'd recommend a visit if you can plan it out well and get it for a decent price during the Halloween season, but if you're doing only one haunted house this year, there are better ones for your buck in the Chicagoland area.
