Parking here can be a mess. We left home 2 hours before our show and were so glad we did. The drive from Chicago's West Town area and waiting for parking alone, took us over an hour. Once in the parking lot, we were fortunate to get a spot around the corner from the main entrance. Expect to wait in a long line for concessions, coat check, and the ladies restroom. Prices for drinks and snacks are what you would expect. However, the mixed drinks we purchased were definitely worth the price we paid. Our server at the bar had a "heavy hand" so there was plenty of spirits in the drinks. Definitely appoint a designated driver. Seats are comfy here and the inside of the theatre gets warm. But plan to sit very close to strangers if you don't have an aisle seat. I like the intimate setting of this theatre. Views from row E were fabulous. Being an amateur musician myself, I would say the only critique I have is that at times the instruments sounded louder than vocals, so it made it hard to hear the soloists at times. In all, a December concert here was a beautiful experience and a great way to kick off the holidays!

The first was a concert , but where I was sitting didn't make it feel like a concert . The next event was a comedy show. This venue is much more suited to those kinds of shows you'd see in Vegas. While visiting Chicago for a professional training, I discovered the best little spot. Let me get…read morethis name right: Parkway Bank Park Entertainment District. Wow, that's a mouthful. I can't help wonder if locals have a nickname for it? It is right across from O'Hare airport, so maybe locals mostly stay away. But whether you happen to live near by or just in town for the weekend, this entertainment district is a one-stop-shop for all your unwinding needs. My training was at Crowne Plaza hotel where I was always lodging, so this oasis of entertainment was delightfully within easy walking distance. Once here, you'll find a plethora of restaurants and other activities ("Would you say I have a plethora of piñatas?"). A quick rundown of some of the current restaurants located around the district's circle: Fat Rosie's Taco and Tequila Bar The Sugar factory (milkshakes, sundaes and food items) Bub City BBQ Adobe Gilas Tex Mex Saltwater Coastal Grill Crust Brewing Fogo de Chao Brazilian Strakhouse As for entertainment: Joe's Live for live music and concerts King's Dining & Entertainment (bowling, pool tables and food) An AMC Dine-in theatre Pete's Dueling Piano Bar iFLY indoor skydiving And a nice little dispensary for all of your out-of-state needs when you hail from Indiana! (That little disposable pen "wrote" some great stories for both me and a friend! Sometimes, you just need to lie there, listen to music and loose track of the time!) One of the coolest things about this entertainment district is this faux-grass field right in the middle that makes the circle. People were just hanging out and talking and listening to music and (I think) drinking. (I'm not sure if public drinking is allowed there, so don't hold me to it. But I am pretty sure that was the vibe.) Kids were running and playing on the artificial turf and having a great time. I feel like this field is used for organized sports and activities, but it was open for the public to use on that particular evening. If you find yourself in the Rosemont area of Chicago or staying near O'Hare, swing by the (hold on, and let me get this straight) Parkway Bank Park Entertainment District. There is something for everyone at all price points!

It's conveniently located in this area and is surrounded by countless hotels, additional shopping complexes, movie theater and other restaurants. There is a large activity green area in the center an it surrounded by spots like Kings Bowl, Zanies Comedy Club, Sugar Factory, Harley Davidson and a few other spots. As noted in other reviews, I can't tell the target demographic for this "park". And honestly there may not be one, but on the surface, not sure who they created it for. We sat at the benches for a while after having lunch at Fat Rosie's and then popping into the dispensary. There is a large multi-level parking garage dedicated to the park. It's a pay lot, but super convenient. Overall, solid complex offering a few options and the ability to be outside. 3.5 stars for me, but since we don't have half stars, 4 it is.

I love mysteries and I enjoy guessing along. Some of the actors were kind of weak (and quiet) I'm sure they were talented enough but didn't know how to work with a room full of dining patrons as opposed to a traditional audience. There were some that were great. The accordion player, the G-man at the end, and the Louie kid who was really sweating to keep the energy up...he was the only one who had my attention the full time. I was having a pretty good time by the end of the show...but then the show didn't end. The director got ahold of the microphone (he actually had it from the beginning but at first he used sparingly...thankfully) and just talked and talked about nothing. My favorite part is when he grabbed his glass (which took about two minutes) to read straight out of the program. It was awful. Hopefully this was an opening night idea and will be quickly dropped because by the end of it, this speeches by the director and the producer almost completely ruined the work of the actors.

My daughter loved Zombie monster truck last year but this year, Zombie driver was not as good as others. It was entertain with crowds cheering on for cars. I think sitting on 2nd floor was a smart decision due to smoke from the car. I didn't want to be too close to the cars anyway. Pro tip- arrive early because parking lot can get crazy. The upstairs area looks to be a great place to enjoy any concert, but that's why it's reserved for VIPs. They did a great job of transforming the place for the show. Lots of fun lighting special effects, fun t-shirt gun giveaways, dry ice floating bubbles - which I never saw before in any show, and of course the balloon drop at the end. Also the music was loud, but you could still talk to the person next to you - well loudly of course, but I didn't feel like I had to shout. I had only a sip of a margarita which was a bit sweet for my liking, but overall a great place to catch a show and do something out of the ordinary!

The theatre is part of the Des Plaines Park District and what a great asset for the city. There are a handful of organizations that rent space for their productions here I think, amongst them Big Noise Theatre, which I learned about at a Park Ridge summer event and that's how I found out there's a great black-box theatre in the suburbs. They've hosted various arts companies, including dance and opera. They're also available for rent by other parties as well. Prairie Lakes has just under 300 seats and the sight lines are good; I don't think there are any limited view seats in the place. Seats were very comfortable too. We had to go all the way down to the hotel bar which is not handy at all. The seating was so tight in the Montrose Room you could barely get around, especially with no coat check. The sound system was not good. The Drummer had 7 mics on him and he was way too loud. You could barely hear the younger keyboard guy (forgot his name), even Althea Rene had to ask for him to be turned up. It has been many years since we were last at the Montrose Room and saw Norman Brown perform. Things were so much better back then and worth the tix price. Please ditch those tv tray type tables that tip easily with something better to put your drink on. You can do better! As to not just complain, we did enjoy the musicians and overall we enjoyed their music. Plus it was fun to dress up and go out to hear live music for New Year's Eve. However, to pay good money for the tix and pay a lot for parking, just to be left disappointed saddened us. Not enough effort was put into the whole experience.

Housed in the seriously chic InterContinental hotel, this intimate music venue boasts ringside cabaret seating and killer acoustics. The specialty cocktails are made with some of my favorite things: St-Germain, champagne floats, passion fruit juice, and lychee vodka among other sexy ingredients. For the man in your life? Some stellar whisky, bourbon and cognac selections. Tip: Don't forget to have your parking validated by a bartender on the way out and you'll only pay $5. And, be sure to take a stroll around the hotel - the art collection is FAB.
