Live Bait caters to an audience that's looking for something a little out of the ordinary. Much of their work mines the area between traditional theater and performance art. The focus is on new voices and new stories, with a lot of support for emerging playwrights and solo artists. Each summer, they present Fillet of Solo, which is a series of solo performance pieces.
This doesn't mean that everything they do is either dry or weird. This summer's plays include "Vegas Baby!," about growing up in Las Vegas, and new work by Nicole Hollander, the creator of the comic strip "Sylvia." I've seen plays here about death, travel, sexual identity, and Letitia Baldridge. Sometimes all in the same play.
If you've seen "Too Much Light" and you're ready for the next step, try Live Bait. read more
