Love this place! Capacity of just above 500. All seats from bottom to top have great views of the stage. No obstructions. Great sound system. Easy in and out of seats and bathrooms are also easier to move along. Naturally there will be lines for the bathrooms and bars during intermission but it moves quite quickly due to the small capacity of this theater. This is located at the Water Tower Place so shopping, eating, and fun things to do literally surrounds you. Pro tip: get your parking ticket validated. Without it, parking is $40! With it, it's $14! Woot!!! Enjoy the show!

We attended a great performance and left feeling uplifted and happy. The music and dancing were exquisite. We were mesmerized the entire evening. Add in a little humor and our night was complete. The theater is clean and comfortable. The views look great from any seat. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I want to make a point to attend this theater more often. Parking is easy and there are several restaurants to round out a nice evening.

Upon entering this compact lobby, my ticket scanned then I had walked passed the two concessions stands before entering the theater. BTW, this theater is located in the same complex at the Ritz Carlton and Water Tower. Plenty of parking, public transportation and dining options. As I had entered the theater, I was handed the program for The Golden Girls, then how to locate my seat. My seat was G8 which was okay. It was great be sitting behind one of railing, however, I was not able to see the entire stage. I can't blame anyone. I just know for the next time. I thought the visual and sound system were spot on. The seat, itself, was comfortable. Overall, a great experience and I would return to see another show.

Beautiful playhouse. Centrally located DT near the Water Tower. I was able to do some shopping before the play. On to the playhouse itself. Very intimate and clean. The security and theater workers were very friendly. Prices for refreshments were reasonable and lower than other theaters. Overall not a bad seat in the house. I would come back to this playhouse.

Broadway Playhouse is on the smaller side of theatres for Chicago but I love the intimacy of this theatre. There are plenty of parking garages around the area in walking distance. You can do valet and I think certain shows they validate parking. When you enter you enter into the main lobby and on one side is the bar and the other merchandise. Bathrooms are clean and the line moves quick. Inside the theatre it's easy to find your seat and there is not a bad seat in the house. I've sat in the way back and this time around I was in the 3rd row. The seats are comfy for theater seats and the elevation of the rows helps so you aren't blocked by those in front of you.

Came here to watch "20-sided tavern" (which was AMAZING). The venue itself is really good. There isn't really a bad seat. All good views. Staff was very friendly and helpful. My only critique was the bar setup. The lines were soooo long and the service so slow that there was basically no chance to get a drink at intermission if you also went to the restroom. So, plan ahead and order several drinks if you want some for later. Other than that, I loved it!

Opening Night! Golden Girls Tour! I'm already ready to go back and see it again!

I had never been to this Playhouse before. I cannot say enough about it! The parking is easy and convenient and not outrageously priced, especially once it's validated! You literally walk from the parking garage across the street and into the playhouse! The lobby is spacious and set up perfectly! The bathrooms are large and clean, well the women's bathroom anyway, I cannot speak about the men's as I obviously wasn't in there. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. The seats are pretty comfortable and not to sound like Goldilocks but the theater is just the right size! We were in row N and could still see and hear perfectly. We went for The Golden Girls tour and I am still blown away! The show itself was absolutely incredible! 12 out of 10 I would go back tomorrow if I had tickets! Do not miss this if you get the chance to see it anywhere in your area whether it be Chicago or anywhere across the country! I will give the disclaimer that is a very adult show. But it is so much fun and absolutely hilarious! Don't miss out on this one!

I came here to see stomp! The venue itself is cozy, pretty simple, and all great seats with a good view. The seats are comfortable but definitely note if you have broad shoulders or a bit larger you may be closer to your neighbor than you prefer as they are close bucket seats that share an armrest! It's right next to the Ritz Carlton for reference, I got a little lost on the way over! The staff was very helpful and kind! My only suggestion is to not let people in super late as it is distracting and a bit disrespectful to performers in my opinion. Stomp: Oh my god the most talented human beings!! Seriously I want to see it again and again. It felt like so short and I wished it never ended. So interactive and I couldn't stop laughing. I thought it was a serious performance but it was hilarious and eye opening; my favorite performance of all time! It was great for all ages, I attended with my boyfriend and we're both 25, surrounded by a range of people. The cast was extremely talented, diverse and so complimentary. I will definitely be bringing friends and family back to see this performance!

I have been here once before. It is a small but intimate, nice theater. The acoustics are good. Seating is comfortable. When I entered a lady immediately asked for tickets, but I had comp tickets and was waiting for someone. The restroom was clean, decent. Nice decor. Parking nearby wasn't bad thanks to my peps at SpotHero. Restaurants nearby. First time seeing a musical here, not bad.

Row A seats 1&2! Great view!!!

Came here for the first time to see Cruel Intentions and it was AMAZZZZZINGGGGG! We scored last minute (aka within a few hours of the show, super cheap less than $20 tickets!). We sat in the front front row which I was a little concerned because those were the only seats available and so cheap that I was worried about an obstructed view. I was sure wrong! In my opinion it was the best seat in the whole house! We could see the whole stage with perfect perception and all the cool dancing and singing was so awesome right in front of us! Plus LEG ROOM! ha Definitely gonna go for the front cheap seats again! As far as the show, ummm I am a 90s baby for sure, watched the movie a billion times, know every line and innuendos by heart, and laughed and sang by ass off so much that I got so excited I bought a T-shirt (sensible) and a CD after (WHAT?!). Yes I excitedly bought a CD when I don't own a CD player haha! But it was so fun and the show was so amazing. I never ended up using the CD (collectors item maybe? lol) but I downloaded the musical on itunes ha. GO SEE IT! And the venue was awesome! Good snacks, STRONG drinks!, great views any where!

I loved this theater. Small, quaint and every seat in the house has a perfect view. This was an incredible play and so much fun! Had a Great Valentines Night here.

It is a fitting venue for touring and other musical productions. The grandeur has been kept up tremendously, with marble everywhere you look, yet it doesn't feel tacky or OTT. The restroom lines are still a prison yard spectacle, and it's a bummer. It's fine to keep things moving and have a somewhat intense system for doing so. But I really dislike the power trip and lack of coordination. I was there early on in the intermission, thank goodness, and one woman told me to stand alongside the wall. Sure! Then about 20 seconds later, another woman working there told me to stand against a different wall while I waited. As I was in the stall, I heard one woman shouting directions at everyone - the crazy thing was that she didn't seem mad or rude, but she was at such an obnoxious volume with extremely repetitive shouts! It was honestly annoying, between that and literally being told "up against the wall" like we're criminals. It's also downright stupid that there's no wifi here. What year is it?

I used to live in the city, so getting the chance to come back and see a show there always feels special. Last December we went to see Phantom of the Opera with our daughter, my mom, and my godfather, and it was such a memorable night for all of us. From the moment you walk in, the theater itself is stunning. The architecture, the ornate details, and the overall atmosphere make it feel grand and historic in the best possible way. The theater is also very well run. Everything from entering the venue to finding seats and getting settled felt smooth and organized, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Seeing a show like Phantom of the Opera in such a beautiful space made the evening feel even more magical. It's the kind of place that reminds you why live theater is so special. OUT OF THIS WORLD. Every single voice was powerful, soulful, and straight-up gave chills. You could feel the emotion in every note--gospel, R&B, soul... it was hitting on ALL levels. The costumes were a whole moment! Bright, bold, colorful, and creative--every scene felt like a visual celebration. Just beautiful to watch. And the dancing?? Whew! High-energy, sharp, and so fun. The choreography had the whole audience locked in--you can't help but move in your seat! This show is just FUN. It's vibrant, uplifting, and full of life. From the music to the movement to the storytelling, it pulls you in and doesn't let go. You walk out smiling, feeling good, and maybe even a little inspired. If you get the chance to see it--GO. This was my first time at this theater and O. My. Gawd. The elegance hit me the second I walked in. The entire place is like stepping into a glamorous time capsule. Think ornate, gilded ceilings, rich and flamboyant architectural details, and walls that look like they were decorated for royalty. Massive, sparkling chandeliers hang overhead like they're showing off -- and honestly, they should. Everything felt extravagant in the best possible way. Now, a small downside: the women's bathroom on the second floor only has three stalls. During intermission the line was long, like "please don't let the curtain go up yet" long. I heard there's another restroom downstairs, so if you're a planner like me, maybe scope that out before the show starts. The staff and ushers were wonderful -- super attentive, helpful, and very observant. They kept everything running smoothly and made the whole experience feel welcoming. Definitely make sure you plan ahead for parking or valet, since downtown can get a little hectic, especially on show nights. Somehow, I learned about a children's production presented through their educational wing. I'm not sure if their education & engagement was this strong in years past or perhaps I simply wasn't dialed into their offerings, but that's definitely changing now. We went to see Splish Splash. This was a 50 minute long story about a blue heron and friends who are seeking to repair the moon after it fell into Lake Michigan. There were songs, there was play, and it was highly interactive. The kids--fellow "sailors", along with three of the cast members--learned a song to sing along at various parts of the show. There were several times when the kids were invited onto the "stage" (it was in one of their lab/classroom spaces, so there wasn't a raised stage) to help or participate. It was so well done, and kept the kids engaged. I really loved how this experience was designed. Upon arrival we were checked in and pointed to one of the classroom spaces. I was surprised because I wasn't sure how actors could be safe there, but it was actually a room for the kids to color and read books or play with toys and stuff before we were taken into the room where the performance took place. I've only seen something that was meant to keep kids busy like that before showtime is at Filament Theatre, and we've gone to kids shows at two or three other theaters by now. It was a great touch. This production was specifically geared toward children aged 0-5, which is atypical and felt so special that it was written with the littlest theatergoers. One of the important pre-show reminders was for adults, reminding us that it's a no-shush zone! I'm so excited that one of the most important theaters in the city, and the oldest non-profit theater still in operation in Chicago, is so committed to developing young audiences in an exciting way and meeting them where they're at.
