City driveways and Hardscapes

We hired City Driveways and Hardscapes to remove, replace and extend our driveway, apron and 4…read moreconcrete blocks in July 2024. The work was ok. They said the job was over but the apron was messed up. It seemed like the end of the job was rushed which lead to issues. The 4 concrete blocks were also messed up (poured concrete then it poured less than an hour later). Rain was in the forecast and anticipated, like stated they rushed at the end. They had to redo the apron so the blocks and apron are two different colors when we paid for uniformity. We didn't feel like harping on it so let it go to be done with the job and the company. The job was done in August 2024. Seven months after, in March 2025 an area of the driveway were it was extended started to form a hole. Patrick came out and stated it was because there was not enough stone below the asphalt and they would rip out and replace at least half to three-quarters of the driveway and have it done correctly. He also assured us that the area between the newer and existing driveway would be seamless, you wouldn't even be able to tell which turned out to not be the case. After this conversation, there started to be another area about 2 feet from the hole that started to get soft/crack. We made them aware. In April 2025, they came to redo the work. I spoke to the person who seemed to be in charge (blonde, early-late thirties) and showed him the areas affected. They ripped the driveway up right up to the end of the sinkhole which was not the plan relayed. I called and spoke to Patrick and asked him, he said he would come out to take a look but never came. The next day they poured the asphalt without Patrick ever looking to make sure the work was correct and what was initially communicated. After the asphalt was poured Patrick said that they would seal the driveway so the color of the asphalt would match. Initially he said they would come in two weeks to do it. Two weeks came and went with no communication. A crack has also formed between the newer driveway and existing. We gave Patrick the benefit of the doubt since it did rain quite a few times in that time period. June 2nd, we texted Patrick since we have not heard from him in about a month and he stated we had to wait 4 weeks for the asphalt to cure. That is fine, there was just no communication to us. On June 4th, 2 people came to seal the driveway. There was no protection on our garage doors and the overspray got on them. We didn't say anything, gave them the benefit of the doubt that they knew and rectify the mistake. On June 5th they send a guy out with lysol wipes, what a joke. Later that day, someone comes with a chemical and leaves the chemical on the doors. I texted Patrick on June 5th and he texted back "Yes that's ok we put a product on the doors to take off over spray from sealer we had to allow it to set in for the night and all wash off tomorrow morning no worries." They did not come on June 6th to remove the sealer. on June 7th, three guys come out with Goof-off, wipes and sprayed the doors with water to try and remove the chemical. They stated it would be off and the doors would be white again. The chemical did not come off, the doors are stained, paint is stripped and our WHITE, NEW garage doors and coping/siding around and yellow/brown. This is absolutely unacceptable. The garage doors cost over $8,000 and the driveway over $13,000. Dealing with this company has been one issue after another. We have texted Patrick pictures and our concerns which have gone unanswered since June 5th. This is not a small issue, our garage doors are ruined because of the ineptitude of this company. The workers and owners have clearly little to no experience in this field. The ironic thing is, they went to another house in the neighborhood to seal their driveway after ours and asked the homeowner to open the garage doors. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to put up a tarp or a covering over doors to prevent overspray getting on the house. They have caused us now $8,000 worth in damages, excluding completely robbing us of over $13,000 for their so-called "work." We did not pay for a piece-meal driveway which is the product that was delivered.

I got 2 more estimates. One was higher one lower. I decided to go with these guys. And I couldn't be happier. Yes I could have saved a few dollars but after seeing the finished job....WOW!!!! Worth every dollar. They came with a team, everyone knew their job and did it well. Prior to agreeing, they explained step by step of how they would do the job and the time it would take to complete. Writing this review is the least I could do. I am so happy and 100% satisfied with the job and manner in which job was done. I strongly recommend this company. True pros at what they do. PS, My neighbor jealous Thanks Guys. Mike
