The inside was very cute with a lovely ambiance. The lady who took my drink order, a shorter woman with glasses, was very welcoming and friendly. It didn't take long to place my order. The man who made my drink was also very kind. I asked about the golden color of the tapioca, and he explained that it tastes the same but has a more golden hue. He was right, it tasted just as good, maybe even a little sweeter. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Me and my friend wanted boba after dinner and this place fulfilled that craving. Cute spot! Loved all the decor and wall art inside good for taking pictures. I got their thai tea and my friend got the brown sugar boba. I liked that it wasn't overly sweet. And the boba was cooked well. I would recommend giving this place a try when visiting Grand Rapids!

I enjoyed the Hokkaido milk tea very much! It wasn't very sweet (which I liked), tasted like a caramel frappe to me. The boba was well cooked and chewy. Interior is very cozy and has a cute spot to take photos at! The employees at the register were very helpful with their recommendations too! Probably the best boba/milk tea spot I've been to in West Michigan!

I think if you're in the mood for some boba tea, this is probably your stop. They make the tea there in front of you, so that's definitely a pro that it's not prepackaged. I'm not a fan of boba so I opted out of adding it to my tea. I tried the Thai milk tea (I was craving Thai tea but was in a rush to get back to my hotel) and decided to stop here and see what this was all about. While not terrible, I wouldn't stop again to get the Thai milk tea. Perhaps because I was expecting something else was why it didn't win me over... either way, not my favorite but worth a try if you're craving some tea (cold or iced).

I love a good boba shop, and this one did not disappoint. It's smaller, but it still has a cute, welcoming atmosphere and enough places to hang and drink your tea if you want. I like to grab and go, and it didn't even take 5 minutes for my order to be ready. Got the Thai iced tea with boba!

Ding Tea is a Taiwanese bubble tea chain that has arrived in Grand Rapids! I think this spot will do well because it seems like bubble tea / boba is gaining popularity here. I've been loving boba since my college days and Bubble Island in East Lansing (RIP), so it's exciting to have another spot to try. Ding Tea has a lot of options and different ingredients that I've never heard of, so it was a little overwhelming going in. However, I just ordered a combination that sounded good to me and it ended up being delicious! I had seen photos online of the menu but still don't really know what everything is. I thought we'd be asked our ice and sweetness level, but we weren't. If you have specifications for that just let them know when you order I guess. I got a passionfruit milk tea with star fruit jellies. My boyfriend got a chocolate milk tea with coffee jellies. Currently only seven people are allowed inside at one time for proper social distancing, so we had to wait outside for a bit. Then our drinks took a little while to make but they were apologetic - and we didn't have anywhere else we had to be that day. If you're in a hurry maybe try calling ahead. The drinks were very good! I didn't find mine to be too sweet, which was a relief since I don't like them to be super sugary. The chocolate milk tea had a nice chocolate flavor but the coffee jellies didn't taste like much. We commented that a popping strawberry boba would have been really good with the chocolate. The passionfruit milk tea was fruity and refreshing! I love the star shaped jellies, they had varying textures that made it really interesting. Total for two drinks was around $10 before tip. We will definitely be back, maybe after studying the menu a bit more!

More boba comes to Grand Rapids! All of the milk teas use non dairy creamer and the flavoring is powder based, so it's non-dairy. They also have soy and almond milk that can be used for the lattes. The boba is all additional, but price for their boba is about the same as other boba places. My boyfriend and I ordered large hazelnut milk tea with golden boba and strawberry slush with rainbow jelly. The hazelnut milk tea was delicious. The strawberry slush is very sweet, wish we could have requested a reduced sweet level for that - but apparently the strawberry syrup they use at baseline is very sweet. Total for the 2 drinks was around $12. Looking forward to trying more of their flavors! Hope they do well, especially with the prime location in downtown Grand Rapids near Van Andel arena.

It was a Saturday around 8:30-8:45 a.m., and the place was so busy that sending it back didn't feel worth it, so I went with it. It turned out to be their breakfast "sandwich," just made with a waffle instead of bread, featuring eggs, onions, tomatoes, and bacon. Since I don't eat bacon, that was the only element I didn't care for, but otherwise it was a very good meal. I also ordered the café miel, which was excellent. I'd definitely come back for the waffle (just without bacon next time!)

The place was pretty busy but we managed to get a table. We weren't near any outlets but I did see a few scattered along the walls. The vibe is pretty cozy with mismatched chairs and what look like church pews. I ordered a flat white with oat milk and Nate got a pour over. The prices were pretty cheap, lower than most coffee shops in the area (only $5 for a latte) which was nice. They also took my name for my drink which I loved! They also have a small food menu with bagels and spreads and sandwiches. I do wish they had some more fun seasonal options for coffee drinks, the menu is pretty basic. Some other cool features of this coffee shop include gender neutral restrooms with vacant/occupied locks (love those) and a wireless printer. It was pretty loud while we were there, but I have noise canceling headphones which helped. Definitely a busy spot, so if you need an outlet I'd recommend getting there early. I liked this coffee shop but I think I'd pick Ferris over it (which is next door). Still, if I'm in the area again I might stop by.

So when my family and I were walking around downtown Grand Rapids and needed a place to eat breakfast, we popped into Social Misfits because their menu is basically 90% waffles. My kids love waffles. Every kid loves waffles. Waffles it is! This is a great restaurant for families (because ... waffles), but also a great restaurant for adults because they have a nice selection of creative cocktails in the evening, and coffee in the morning. Social Misfits is basically waffles, alcohol and caffeine, in that order. When we visited in the morning, the adults opted for coffee (really great black coffee!) and the kids both opted for the Little Lad, a waffle topped with strawberries, blueberries and chantilly cream (basically whipped cream, but a little sweeter and whipped a little longer). Both of my children ate most of their waffle, which is a big thing, considering they usually eat like birds. We also got the Son of a Biscuit, which was a garlic parmesan waffle topped with chicken sausage gravy and a fried egg. You could add fried chicken to the mix for an extra $6 (we did not). This one was fine, but the egg was way overcooked! Oh well. Lastly: We got the Ol' Blue Eyes, a waffle topped with blueberry compote, lemon curd, whipped ricotta and graham cracker crumbs. This one tasted amazing, but there was so much blueberry compote and lemon curd that it made the waffle a bit soggy. I think the chef was feeling generous with the toppings, but homie needed to hold back a tad. Sometimes, a little bit goes a long way! Fifty percent less gloppy stuff would have made this waffle dish 100% better. If you ain't really about that waffle life, then not to worry. Social Misfits also has a few "not waffles" items on the menu, like salads, sandwiches and a couple of bar snacks. But I think if you visit this restaurant, you need to just embrace waffles. There are more than a dozen different waffles on the menu. They're all fun and well-thought-out. Pick one and eat waffles for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
