My uncle took us on a road trip to Tagaytay City and along the way we saw a bunch of restaurants that offer "bulalo". Bulalo is a traditional Filipino beef shank soup that is popular in this part of the country. I personally chose Diner's Bulalo because they claim to have the best soup in Tagaytay and their dining area offers guests a view of the Taal Volcano (famed as the smallest active volcano in the world). Plus dining at a restaurant overlooking an active volcano has been a pattern for me ever since I was introduced to an Indonesian buffet in Bali that overlooked Mt. Batur. I wanted to have the same experience in The Philippines.
Anyway, service here was great! The restaurant got packed fast with locals and foreign tourists so we were lucky enough to get seats with the view!
WE ORDERED
--------------------
- Beef Bulalo - Their specialty is a must! The beef was tender and they also offer free broth refills. Perfect soup during our windy day adventure in Tagaytay! For dipping I prefer fish sauce with calamansi and a bit of chili for a kick!
- Crispy Pata - Crunchy, but not a big fan because some parts were lightly burnt.
- Fried Chicken - light batter, but still crunchy and good.
- Grilled Stuffed Squid - Simple squid dish stuffed with onions, tomatoes, and herbs. It's marinated with light soy sauce and it's usually dipped in spicy soy sauce with calamansi.
Overall, the bulalo did not disappoint! This is a perfect restaurant for out of towners! read more
