We have been patients with Dimond Vision for several years and was extremely satisfied. The clinic customer service and patient support has declined, since Dr. Kjome has left the clinic. Dr. Dobson is great! But do not get your glasses here. They use shady tactics and lies to get you to purchase expensive eye wear and then do not stand behind their products. I received my prescription sun glasses less than a year ago with a year warranty on the lenses. I kept the sun glasses in the special provided case but the glasses arms scratched the lenses. Now, less than a year later they are refusing to replace the lenses, claiming the year warranty on lenses starts on the date I saw the doctor, not the date when I received the sun glasses! read more

I have been a patient at Dimond Vision Clinic for many years. I had seen Dr. Kajome before he retired, and he was spectacular! I have seen Dr. Stephanie Berge, and she was fantastic. I have been in health care for over 50 years, working with doctors and a team as well. If I let customer care suffer, as they had with me, I would have been fired 50 years ago. It goes from bad to worse. This office no longer impresses me. They tend to have a high turnover, and continually drop the ball. Calls are not returned, no one seems to care, it's a job. After being a patient for many years with the exact same insurance information, I was told "no, you do not have that coverage (I do/did- for over 10 years). I ordered one pair of glasses from them (oh, interesting, their frames no longer have a price on them- surprise!) and on the second pair ordered glasses/frames from another office, where they confirmed I did indeed have a second insurance, and "no problem, just send in the form you need to have filled out by your OD.") A little extra hassle, but easy enough. NO. I was leaving out of state with a family emergency in December, I stopped by twice, my husband once (yes, 3 times!) and was told the doctor was not in, come back, they had no idea how to help. I live in Eagle River, they are in South Anchorage. After the THIRD time driving to their office "We can't help you", I wrote a letter,and sent a form, explaining I needed the doctor's signature, taxpayer ID, provider ID and diagnosis code. I sent a self addressed stamped envelope, highlighted what needed to be filled in, and mailed it to them. I called them three times and was told "it was in the mail." A team member (wait! There is NO teamwork there!) had called me, and I returned his call twice "not available, he will call back". He left another voice mail to "come in and get the form." I called and explained I was out of state with a family emergency, please use the self addressed stamped envelope that I had mailed with my letter and the form over 6 weeks prior. I returned from out of state, NOTHING. I had also asked a question about follow up, and nothing was ever answered. EVER. I was abandoned and ignored. Not advised for any medical office. When I called I was questioned "What!!? You did not get medicine for that? You need to come in!" So I made an appointment. They called and changed it on a Monday, then I got THREE calls, and a text to see if I was coming on Friday. No, I did not need medicine. After 7 weeks of waiting, they did not have my form filled out completely. The doctor had signed it, but no other information ( I highlighted all that was needed to be filled out!) It was returned to me with my typed letter (coffee spilt on it). I had to ask again for the provider ID, tax payer numbers to be put in. I am exhausted with their lack of care and professionalism. Dimond Vision Clinic sells glasses and other vision products and offers optometry services. The staff is friendly. The location is close to me . They have a nice selection of glasses . So why did I only give them one star ? Because they actually charge a 3% surcharge if you use a credit card, (this is a pet peeve of mine when restaurants do it ) I think it is outrageous for a Doctor's office . Eye exams and Glasses are expensive Especially at this clinic .That little sign opened my eyes . I knew I wouldn't do business with them . read more

They seem to be failing in areas which there were never problems. Billing - answer the phone OR do timely call backs! Be clear what constitutes an annual exam and its costs. My 2025 annual exam bill was $142.00 higher than the same exam in 2024. Only difference was the provider who did the exam. Due to staff issues that day(?), and after the preliminary standard tests were done, I waited in patient chair for 40 minutes before actually seeing an optometrist. No staff came to tell me, while waiting, "sorry there is an unforeseen issue" and the wait will not be too much longer. At the very least! Wow! This place is amazing! That was the most thorough eye exam I have ever had. The doctor was very thorough and took the time to explain everything, which I absolutely loved. I saw someone that was just filling in and unfortunately is retired, but my husband saw one of the other doctors and had an equally great experience! I would highly recommend this place. read more

THEY CHARGE OVER TWICE AS MUCH AS COSTCO FOR CONTACTS! Do not buy contact lenses or glasses from this place. I had been paying $800 for a years worth of contact lenses and then found out I could get the same amount and same brand of contacts for $350 at Costco. Shame on this place for overcharging people. I'm not proud that I was scammed but I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to friends or family because of the lack of integrity and preying on people's ignorance. If you need an eye exam, then they will do it just fine - but i would caution you to just have the prescription faxed to Costco or some other place for purchasing eyewear. read more

**update: I neglected to include that once, my contacts were STOLEN from my building. I called Dimond Vision in a tizzy; they offered to replace them FREE of cost. I don't understand the negative reviews. I've gone here for years and had the best service. They are the best. --- Dr. Dobson is the best. And I've lived in big cities. YES, you will generally wait ~1 hr for your appointment, BUT he is considered the best in Anchorage. And this does mean he takes his time with you, TOO. Your appointment will not be rushed. Also, he has fit me and family in after-hours. He loves the cutting edge and is always getting new tech every few years. Unlike other places, every client at every visit goes into their "dark room," which has all the fancy tech (like 5+ machines). I like all the fancy tests done on my eyes. When you come here over time, you can see any changes in your vision, eyeball shape (very expensive machine, I asked questions about it), etc. Dr. D was able to diagnose a young girl with cancer really early, based off something he saw in these tests. This was before other doctors caught it. He is good at what he does and always tries to stay ahead of the curve. He's always reading and studying things. As a major plus, this place is incredibly hygienic. They wipe everything down all the time, which I appreciate, since I'm putting my face near/on it. People have asked on this Yelp page why his exams are more expensive. It's probably because (1) the extra technology and results received from it; (2) supply and demand. He is always booked and always has well-paying clients. Most of his clients come as referrals. That's how we found out about this place. If he lost clients over cost and couldn't run the business, he would have to decrease prices or shutdown (econ 101). I've since moved away to a big city, and the reason I'm writing this now is because I'm having trouble finding another doctor just like him. I wish there were more Dr. Ds around. read more

Dr Dobson has been my eye care professional for 35 years. You can not find a more qualified, or more professional person, in any field. My eye care has been complex over the years and I know that this clinic has the highest quality service and staff because i have experienced it. Dr Dobson has solved all of my eye health problems over the years as well as has provided for all of my family and extended family. He calls me at home to follow up when complex issues surface. They schedule emergency visits for their patients after hours. You don't get that kind service at other clinics. Went to see Dr Frank to get a referral appoint for a corrective eye surgery. I had to wait over 45 minutes for him after the initial exam to come and give me the referral. During the referral exam he mentioned that if I went to the location, he suggested that there would be a refund on referral appointment. I have discovered that there is no refund and would suggest that if you do need a referral exam to find another doctor to get the exam done at. read more

I love the staff and my optometrist, with one exception. Rebecca makes every visit I have tense and uncomfortable. She's short with people, condescending, and incredibly rude to her fellow employees. The way she interacts with the staff in front of customers is insanely unprofessional; I can only imagine what a horror she is behind closed doors. I have been going there for 2 years now. I think Dr. Dobson is wonderful still. Kind and spends time with his pts. However, I have had some irritating interactions with the front office gatekeepers. I know that leaving a message for Dr. Dobson does not get to him as he is unaware of the message and info left when asking at next visit. I had one instance when arrived 3 minutes past my appointment time and had to reschedule. The next time I had an appt.(the reschedule) I waited an hour and a half and then it was past closing and had to reschedule again. I feel like others commenting here that the people working the front desk need additional training or go to courtesy school. They also need to be reminded about talking about other pts in front of those in the waiting room. read more

Once again, I wait and wait. 415 appointment, going to pay out of pocket for an exam. No big deal, appointment made long ago. I show up at 413 pm, nice place, fill out my paperwork and return it at 420 pm. At 445 pm (30 minutes after scheduled time) AND with not even a "will be with you shortly" or a "we are really busy" etc.? At 448, over 30 minutes after the appointment time, I left. I have no idea how we got to a point where this is the norm, but I am severely disappointed Thx but no thx Dimond Vision, all you needed to do was communicate - even a little. read more

I understand things happen, but seeing other patients go ahead of her who arrived later makes me think this was just them blowing off my kid. They snuck in extra prices, and were not clear on the prices about anything until they were going to charge me at the very end. I have really good vision insurance, and they were charging me more that $700 for basic exams/frames for my two kids and I. I realized later how many things they snuck in - especially to my teenage son who didn't know any better. I will never go their again. I see why they were so friendly - you didn't notice all the charges you were being bilked for. read more

While I have not seen the optometrist, I would not recommend getting glasses here. First they ordered the wrong lenses, the next lenses did not fit and they scratched the frames trying to put them in so they had to order new lenses and frames. The third round, they bent the frame trying to get the lenses in and when I asked about it I got the "oh, we screwed up but hoped you wouldn't notice" look. A month later, my glasses are still not right but I'm done with this office. read more

I love the doctors there and had really liked going there before but after a 40 minute wait and the cost of visit being double compared to the other places in town by offices who do the exact same thing, I won't be returning. The frontdesk staff were horrible. It seems their manager doesn't mind it at all. Be careful when you are asked to pay out of pocket. Most likely they will overcharge you. My go to place, especially for interesting frames. The annual frame show is a good time to view new product lines and also get substantial discounts as well. I've found the service, eye exam and product lines to be some of the best in the state and the prices are competitive to the Lower 48 - plus you don't have to fly down to Seattle or Portland or the Bay Area. read more

Dr Dobson at Dimond Vision is the best! He is very knowledgable and has a warm friendly personality. He has a beautiful state of the art office! It is vey comfortable and I love the decor. He took care of me when I had an emergency. I split my eyelid open playing basketball and he was so kind to see me right away before his 1st patient. He examined my eye and referred me to an appropriate surgeon and made sure they could see me right away. I highly recommend you see him for any of your eye care needs. read more

I have had a couple good experiences here. The staff have been knowledgable and timely. They take my insurance and offer a great variety of name brand glasses for me and my kid to choose from. I did feel the front desk girl was pushy when asking for my medical insurance which I assured her would not cover anything.
